Summary: A MUST READ for those interested in learning Visual Basic
Review: This book is exceptionally well written, cetainly one of the easiest books to read that I've ever picked up.

Quite honestly, question number 69 is worth the price of the book alone!

The book's not perfect---there's a typo or two--but it's really excellent. This author explains jargon better than anyone I've ever seen.

John, please write a book on Java soon!.

Summary: The weirdest Computer book ever!
Review: This book is so stupid! I don't understand how this book got 4.5 stars? Most of the book is not even about programing!? Its like a novel!

Summary: Visual Basic Examples
Review: This text book is laid out in a very relaxing format, unlike so many text books that leave you tense after studying them.
The book is a "talk show", question and answer format. John Smiley answers each "callers'" question with detailed examples and references to topics already learned or covered if they relate. I would highly recommend this textbook.

Summary: Making Visual Basic Fun!
Review: This was my 4th book on Visual Basic, and I liked it so much that I immediately bought all 4 of John Smiley's books on VB. He takes an interesting but dry subject matter, and makes learning it fun by using a "virtual" TV show to answer common questions and problems. The book is full of examples to help the user understand what is happening within VB, and the reader ends it with a better understanding of the elements of programing. The key to this book, and what makes it so entertaining, is the conversational method that he uses to reinforces the concepts he is teaching. This conversational method makes the reader feel that they have sat in on a question and answer session, and have 'understood' the material. A very good second book on VB, as it will reinforce the main concepts, and make them a resource that you will understand.
