Rating: Summary: All people in the web Industry...BUY THIS BOOK! Review: If only this book dictated the way all web businesses were run, the industry would be so much more productive, and customers so much happier about their websites. Definitely the premier book for discussing web businesses from the management perspective.
Rating: Summary: The sublime reveals itself to the observant - AGAIN Review: Siegel has grown along with the medium! Amongst a glut of 'e-biz' self-help books, this book's engaging approach allows readers to1) discern the broad patterns of change occurring across all businesses and industries in the field (AKA the 'truth economy' as Siegel terms it), 2) to deconstruct and analyze successful customer-driven businesses, and then 3) take logical and impactful steps to redefine their own enterprise. What a 'business' and what a 'consumer' looks like is rapidly blurring. Consumers are empowered by the digital tools an enterprise can provide them, they can then drive your business or break it if the 'backend' behind the web channel isn't designed to serve them. I strongly recommend this book for business decision makers whose eyes are beginning to glaze over from reading too many WIRED/Business2.0/Forbes articles, and who are looking for a more holistic yet practical step-by-step manual for redefining their business in the age of the super-enabled consumer... To paraphrase the cluetrain.com instigators, MARKETS ARE CONVERSATIONS.
Rating: Summary: Required reading for anybody in business today Review: This is the best book I've read about business and the Internet, and the first I've seen that's about "doing" e-business versus just talking about it. The web is changing every aspect of business (*every* business, every part!), and this book goes over some of the new rules (I loved the part about the "new honesty" required, for instance). The book offers real world advise, and I recommend it to anybody I know that wants to "get it" about business and the Internet. It's also fun to read at times--here's one of my favorite lines, from a sidebar titled "Murphy's Web Laws": "Law #3: If there is one person on earth from whom you want to hide a certain web page, that person will see the page within 24 hours of your putting it online". Great stuff, and a must-read!
Rating: Summary: Read this book and the light will come on. Review: There are a zillion books on the web, but David Siegel's FUTURIZE is the first book that really 'turns the light on'. I have shared this book with over 20 clients so far and have sold at least 200 through my recommendations because I truly believe this book will help companies understand exactly what they need to do to get on the Internet success train. Even those with minimal technical ability will embrace the thinking in this book because it's easy to understand and it just makes sense. For many, FUTURIZE confirms basic beliefs. For others, it helps clear the confusion. It should be required reading for every company officer and manager. It is required reading for every person in our company.
Rating: Summary: "Don't be afraid, it's only your customers" Review: Why are some peole afraid to ask their customers what they think? Maybe, some folks don't really care about what the customer thinks. After reading this book, I firmly believe that we now have a medium and method that will allow us to show our customers how much we care and in a manner that let's the customer tell us what is important to them. 'Futurize...' is the roadmap to use if your going to the land of customer loyalty. And that land is going to have customer communities developed by market leaders of today or those of tomorrow. They will be leaders because their customers will want them to succeed in response to their efforts to help the customer. 'Futurize...' doesn't minimize the fact that those who choose to engage this strategic method of doing business will need fortitude and courage. Sometimes the hardest part about leading is being out in front all by yourself. Instead of measuring where you should be based on where your competitors are, use this book as the walking stick to step out ahead. Others have been out there alone and have succeeded. I sense that this has to be much like Disney who saw the Orlando of the sixties and...... . Have you been to central Florida lately? As mergers and consolidations continue to hold customers interests at bay, "Be patient with us as we....", "When we through...", or " We're doing this for you......", some industries are literally telling their customers to wait until their finished getting bigger and then they'll be ready to help them. I think the customer is ready for someone to say "Can I help you?" and mean it! 'Futurize..' shows how the explosive use of the internet can be the bull horn for your business to shout "You won't believe your eyes! Step right up and let us show you how much we care." This book has me believing our customers will show the same kind of energy and excitement, many of us feel when walking the midway of visiting carnival, country fare or family circus. If, as a circus master, we can take that energy and give the crowd what they want, I think they will come back as often as they can and as much as we want. When that happens the show becomes part of the community and the folks who brought the show have become neighbors and friends. This book outlines how one can tie together the excitement and interest of the internet, the frustration of customer apathy and that part of human nature, which has people caring for those who care for them. I wonder what our customers would think about that? Read this book and don't be afraid, it's only your customers.
Rating: Summary: Must read for anyone interested in doing e-business Review: Absolutely anyone interested in being successful in e-business must read this book. David Siegel understands the internet and what it can do for someone's business. Siegel gets it!
Rating: Summary: A persuasive case for people who don't get it to WAKE UP Review: This book is remarkable. It uses real world examples, hypothetical case studies and plain language to explain the Internet's revolutionary impact upon business. I plan to buy dozens and give them away to friends and acquaintances. As an investor in Internet-related businesses, I understand the enormity of the change that is occurring. David Siegel, employing a team -- or, rather, community -- of assistants to write this book, has articulated the dynamics and their implication for all companies. The future is now and this book will open the readers eyes to the present.
Rating: Summary: Crucial reading for all managers. Review: David Siegel presents an invaluable understanding of what it means to do business in the new economy. His persuasive, well written and easy to read treatise explains, thru example and logical discourse, the concept of doing business on the net as empowering to the customer. Either u get on board and offer the customer what they want or your competitor will. A must for every manager that is thinking of conducting business on the internet, which is everyone!
Rating: Summary: David Siegel sees through the periscope & reports back. Review: I bought it on a lark, having read his other books. That was a week ago. And I'm still stunned. We need to design & enable. Then get out of the way. This book explains why.
Rating: Summary: David Siegel has his finger on the pulse of e-business. Review: With the coming era of e-business, we are positioned to be witness to one of the most significant advancements in human communication since the invention of the printing press. David Siegel is a step ahead of the game. This book is an excellent look into the future of business and should be required reading for everyone in the industry. Though you may not agree with everything he has to say, Siegel's books will definitely make you step back and take stock of your business plan for the coming century. "Futurize Your Enterprise" is a must-read!
