Rating: Summary: Outstanding. It's now required reading at e-Media. Review: 5 Things you will learn from Futurize:1. The client's CEO is not in charge. She should not be in charge of what should and should not be on the company's web site. Don't pander to her. Design and build to her customers. 2. Some of the (big or beautiful) sites we thought were success stories are really unweildy cost centers. (see: car companies and toy retail.) 3. None of us should ever be perfectly happy with our web sites. If we are, then we're blind to what our customers are asking and going backwards. 4. As consultants and service providers, we have to know when to walk away from a project that is destined to fail. Some people make monuments and are not interested in succeeding in e-business. 5. The Internet is a dialogue, a conversation, not a "new channel of distribution." Everybody's talking about Siegel's lists of "e-cancers". Watch out!
Rating: Summary: Siegel gets it. Review: I don't care what you think of Siegel's writing style or what you think of the guy personally. He understands the future of business. Maybe he's not the only one.. but no one else has put out a book that reads this well or makes this much sense immediately. I have learned more from this book and "Secrets of Successful Web Sites" than from the next five best business and management resources combined. "Futurize" is relevant for any size business, anywhere.
Rating: Summary: Over the horizon thinking at its best Review: Offers the perspective needed to lead on the Net. A clear exposition that takes the reader beyond E-Commerce on into E-Business. It is now my new yardstick for hiring consultants.
Rating: Summary: Brick and Mortar - No More Review: In an era when Wall Street pressure pushes internet companies to become more like their brick-and-mortar ancestors, it is refreshing to read encouragement for a New Order of business. For those of us who have forgotten our Internet roots, the message of Futurize is a welcome reminder: the customer is the greatest resource on the Web. I read Futurize hoping for a sequel to 'Creating Killer Web Sites'. Happily, I discovered something far more enlightening.
Rating: Summary: Save your dough for someone in the know Review: Ugh. This guy couldn't write his way out of either paper or plastic. A real labor to get through. There may be some interesting and/or useful tidbits in here, but it's like looking for pearls in a river of chaff. I really wasn't overwhelmed by this guy's e-commerce chops.
Rating: Summary: Stellar insights into how humans behave on the internet. Review: This book is very well written and edited, with tested examples of how these concepts work in the real world, how e-customers think and act, and how critical it is for businesses to organize around customer groups. Highly recommende
Rating: Summary: Visionsary, Provocative, Insightful and Brilliant Review: David Siegel has a very flexible and imaginative vision of the future of e-business. He challenges us to take the next step in our thinking with interesting case studies that vividly demonstate abstract concepts in practical applications. It's a must read and must think about book.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: Not only does this book provide a consise vision for the how the net can be an effective force in reshaping your business, but it actually tells you how to take action. The customer focussed approach outlined here is compelling, powerful, and real.
Rating: Summary: Interesting ideas; poorly written and edited Review: Some interesting ideas here. Too bad the writing is so pedantic that it takes a fair amount of willpower just to find the nuggets. This book would have been better had a talented ghost writer AND editor been on board. Also, it seems that a lot of the stuff here is untested; I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be leading my company down these paths. And I must admit a bias here: I'm very distrustful of some of these ideas simply because of the incredibly bad reputation David Siegel has among his peers in the digital world. I think Mr. Siegel would be better received as the author of a book about self promotion.
Rating: Summary: You gotta read this book! Review: Full of great information, well written and a must read for all
