Rating: Summary: Yes, this is THE book you should get! Review: I'm a fourteen year-old boy from Holland and even I could understand this great book. From simple motion tweening to complex 3D-graphics : This book has it all! Buy this book if you want to get more outta Flash 4.0. By the way, the authors of this book did one hell of a job! =Joost van Doremalen=
Rating: Summary: It's the Bible. Review: As a novice Flash user, this has been the perfect companion to the manual for me. The authors set out to make the book relevant to the widest audience, and with numerous tutorial examples and a whole chapter on "other web sources", I think they've succeeded. I've purchased a couple of other Flash books while I'm learning, but this is by far the most understandable, and in my opinion the most comprehensive. A hearty Thanks to the authors for this worthwhile undertaking!
Rating: Summary: Thank You Flash 4.0 Bible! Review: Being intimidated by technology can be commonplace nowadays. I must admit that I was a little overwhelmed after purchasing Flash 4.0, but that changed upon delivery of my Flash 4.0 Bible. The program is far easier to understand now and the book truly helped me tune in to some of the intuitive features of Flash 4.0. You can read this book cover to cover or use it as a reference, either way it answers the majority of questions you will have. Many of the links in the book are helpful as well, you get to see real live Flash animation by real live pros. This book travels with me to the office daily. Don't let the seemingly infinite features of Flash collect dust, buy this book!
Rating: Summary: Really "The Bible", Really! Review: The Flash 4 Bible bills it's self as "100% comprehensive, authoritative, what you need". Well, 100% is a lofty goal, the book is more like 99% comprehensive! Every Flash developer from beginner to advanced will find this book a must have. Have you ever used the manual included with the Flash software and found yourself scratching you're head? Well not with this book, the writing and lessons are clear and concise. As a professional Flash developer this book is permanently on my bookshelf and is my first "go to" reference. Thank you, Robert Reinhart and Jon Warren Lentz for writing The Flash 4 Bible.
Rating: Summary: NW Houston reader Review: An excellent book for new Flash users. I went through the Flash manual (quickly) and the built-in lessons and tutorials. This book fills in the blanks that the lessons/tutorials skipped over. In under a 1/2 hour I used this book to figure out how to build my first (but not best) movie. To make it better, the number of color examples could be increased and put them with the respective chapter that they are referencing. I'm having fun playing with the trial tools that come on the CD now. The writers have done a great job and the writing is good and easy to read.
Rating: Summary: Save your money ... Review: I waited several weeks to get this book and it was basicallytheflash manual with additional chapter on how to use flash with programswhich I did not own. After the lack luster color pages, there are about 1 or 2 good chapters. This Book does not really do any justice for the full use and creativity FLASH 4 can bring out of someone ... There are many tutorials and good information if you try to search for them on the web.
Rating: Summary: Why this book is useless. Review: Understand this; this book is the Flash Guide. I found no usefull information in this book and was even more diappointed about paying for it when I visited the companion web site. Want to learn FS Commands for Flash on cd's? Visit the flashbible.com and see the spectacular answer to your question.
Rating: Summary: Dis ain't de book Review: I bought the book sight unseen because I'm working abroad and there isn't much at all on Flash. In general the book is not bad, however I can't say I'm completely satisfied. To begin with, the authors spend way too much time explaining how to use Flash with other software. Incredibly an entire part of the book, a whopping 130 pages plus, is dedicated to using Flash with other programs. Why? I would have preferred the section explain Action Script in more detail with more examples. Or perhaps guide the user step by step into designing a working web site with Flash, with a full movie included. Some of the tutorials were interesting, but in general the book doesn't really deliver what I believe most users want: a book going into full detail about how to use Flash features, not other software. If you don't know anything much about Flash, and you want to see examples of a host of other programs used with Flash, then the book is for you. If, however, you have been using the program for a while I doubt you'll find anything new here to enlighten. A well-intentioned book with a not so high price, but it falls short.
Rating: Summary: Well Worth The Money Review: I have bought three different books in my attempts to understand this program. I felt the first two books were not worth the price I paid, but this latest, Flash 4 Bible, is priceless. I found it to be very comprehensive and helpful. Ron Coleman Cartoon Factory
Rating: Summary: Very Basic - A Big Disappointment Review: This book falls far short of my expectations. My experience with the IDG Bible series is that they are thorogh, and complete - this voulme is neither. If you are new to Flash, this may be an option - but I would advise you to save your money and read the manual, and other online resources. Those of us who want to continue developing the advanced features of Flash are wasting our time with this book. It is by far the worst in the Bible series I've read. All in all - a very big disappointment.
