Summary: READ THIS REVIEW!!!
Review: The people giving poor reviews are honest, I have a feeling IDG(company that makes this book) are the ones giving it 5 stars so that the bad but honest reviews dont ruin IDG's sales, think about it. If you buy this book you will be sorry even if your a beginner, its not even a good paperweight.

Summary: Review the basics
Review: I would have to agree that the core of this book is devoted primarily to the basics of Flash. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing; there are points here and there, concerning the toolbars and menus and whatnot, that are well worth refreshing your knowledge of. It certainly doesn't hurt to have a comprehensive volume dedicated to what most would consider the 'mundane' basics, and the last third of the book does progress.

I have this one, Flash 4 Magic, and Flash Web Design, and feel that there is enough information contained within the three to keep my brain working and learning for a long time to come.

Summary: A bit weak...
Review: Figuring that a "Bible" book should be good, thoroughand informational... well... it doesn't live up to yourexpectations.

I felt this book was VERY VERY BASIC for 2/3 of the book. A lot of it was a waste for the money.

I got more information (doing online tutorials) than with this book. The tutotials got me doing stuff immediately... compared to this book... it would have taken me... a number of chapters before I would have done anything useful.

The last 1/3 of the book is a little more useful in regards to the scripting language.

I would not recommend this book. I could only recommend chapters.

Summary: Solid . . .not Flashy!
Review: I'm new not only to the Flash-world but to animation and looking for good sources to get started. F4Bible is definitely informative but not exactly lite reading. The structure of the information is blocky and doesn't flow from area to area. I can't say that I found enlightment on the basics of animation. It is however a very good reference for those who have gotten past the preliminaries.

Summary: Flash 4 Bible - where you'll find the answers
Review: Flash 4 Bible is the most complete of all the Flash books in print. It covers everything, and it covers it more in depth than the other books as well. I have read them all. If your looking for a reference book for Flash. BUY THIS ONE. Its encyclopedic approach gets you the information you need at a glance.

Summary: Let there be light with Flash Bible
Review: I was pleasantly suprised by the expertise put into the Flash Bible. It has taken a tremendous amount of mystery out of Flash. Though I had read the Flash User Guide (a big joke), I forced myself to read the Flash Bible from the very beginning (rather than skip around) and was amazed at how many little things I had missed. The authors' inclusion of various alternate sources makes this a very dedicated and unselfish piece of educational material--a true 'Bible'.

I am currently laying the ground works for my own website where I plan to post my movies and resume (yes, I do hope to make some money at this some day). This book helped me a great deal and was money well spent.

Summary: Keep your money and use the Tutorial that comes with Flash
Review: This book is just a reprint of the Tutorial that you get with the Flash Program. You would be better off to keep your money and use it for something else. Dont like to spend my time and money on a product that is FREE with the program. I was looking for a book that could assist me with this great program, not just a reprint that cost me money for information I already have to choose from for FREE !

Summary: good for novices bad for professionals
Review: Very wide range of topics, but very little depth. I don't think this is really a book for the advanced programmer. There is only one measly chapter on ActionScripting, which is one of the most useful features of Flash 4. I didn't find it useful at all when it came to backend/Flash integration - you'd be better off trying something else.

Summary: F1 - Top left hand corner of the keyboard
Review: Its out of date. Its hard to develop a book based on software technologies, such as Flash. These Authors may be experienced in other applications but Flash does not seem to be their strongest area of expertise. Thanks for Releasing a printed version of the Flash technotes guys . F1 for help isnt they hard to find.

Summary: The flash 4 Bible, the holiest of the holy
Review: The flash bible is by far the most informative, and well written manual in the arena of flash self-help books today (and i should know having read four of them to date). Personally i wish i had read this one first.
