Summary: Well-used Flash 5 ActionScript resource
Review: Of all the Flash 5 ActionScripting books in my collection (and I have them all), this one has the most pages flagged with post-it tags, and the most highlighted paragraphs. It offers clear, easy to understand instructions, with friendly tips and advice. The exercises helped me grasp key concepts of working with ActionScript. Gary shares the full scope of how to create games and activities; he doesn't just flash bits of esoteric code for effects you will never use. Although the book's focus is games, it's an excellent resource for learning basic ActionScript. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn ActionScripting.

Summary: F5 Book review
Review: The book Flash 5 Actionscript for Fun & Games is an excellent introduction to the world of interactive games. There are at least 9 types of different style games, and templates (arcade games, ball & paddle etc.) that help you create your own games. The text is easy to understand, and the chapters are broken up so that the easy stuff comes first and the author builds upon them.
I strongly recommend this book for it's great content, and straight ahead approach.

Summary: Execellent game programming concepts
Review: The book that i am currently reading ( Flash 5 fun and games ) is way out awesome. The concepts behind game programming have always interested me as a student in my final year in Software engineering. Anyway, LOTS of of concepts have been made so simple yet effective with the use of this book. This book has the ability to keep the user interested, and at the same time being ultimately informative and interesting to read both for leisure and also as a reference guide. Game programming concepts have never been made simpler..... It is a must for those interested into venturing into the ever exiciting and fun world of game creation. Gary Rosenzweig is very skillful at intrepreting technical programming jargons into very down-to-earth sentences. This book is a personal favourite ( I've been purchasing LOTS of programming books throughout the years ) and would remain one in the later years to come.

Summary: Simplified for the masses
Review: The book was a very simple read. Good online examples, but I was looking for something a little deeper.

Summary: Good idea bad execultion
Review: The idea behind this book is very good. Provide people with examples of Flash games and try to teach how they are put together. However, the emphasis is placed on pretty examples with very little teaching. Unfortunately, the examples are not explained thoroughly and a lot of times are left scratching your head. I would recommend this book for advanced Flash users, but definitely not for beginners.

Summary: Not a deal
Review: There are a lot of problems in this book: Not all the useful functions expected in a "ActionScript for fun and games" book. The comments for the codes are poor. And so on...

Summary: good book but lack of source code ...
Review: There is no doubt this is a good book. I have bought and read a lot of books by the same author on Director. They were very informative and enriching. But the agony with this is the lack of a CD with source code. According to the book, we are able to download the code from a url but till now, i still have problem getting to the site ...

Summary: Most fun way to learn ActionScript
Review: This book is certainly the most fun way to learn ActionScript ! The examples are great and FUN ! Even if you're not interested in games, I would recommend this for beginners wanting to work with ActionScript. I also bought Moock's book, which was a quite boring read and is only useful as a reference. This book is the kind that you go through from cover to cover (you can't put it down until you finish it !)

Summary: I love this book :)
Review: This book is great, and I highly recommend it to other Flash users. It's packed with a lot of examples and tons of cool Flash effects. I've learned a lot going through each of the lessons and recreating the examples myself. Also, it's a really fun book. I only wish the author had more Flash books I could buy.
