Rating: Summary: Spend your money elsewhere. Review: Look, i've bough quite a few books like this, to data i have yet to find a good one. If you honestly want to learn something then pick a more concentrated area and by a good book on it. Experiment, play around, ask people questions.Oh, and let us not forget the loads of stuff you can find for free on the internet. Come on, this book is just not worth as much as asked for. It's not WORTHLESS, just not worth as much. Pick up a unix manual. Read RCFs, put some effort into it.
Rating: Summary: This book isn't great at all Review: I am a security specialists at Chaos Network Enteprises Ltd, and this book is very outdated and the internet is always changing. This book is for the new users for the web.
Rating: Summary: This book is water Review: This book doesn't get into the true essence of security. To be able to be a competent security specialist, you must think like a cracker. The line between these two is very thin in reality, with most security gurus having the ability to thwart many systems' security. This book is a BASIC overview of security. I saw no in-depth network analysis, the word "stack-overflow", or any other subject with a minimum of intermediate security concerns. The author of this book is obviously a script kiddie. What a joke that he would publish this "anonymously"...like he's actually somebody.
Rating: Summary: This book is awsome. Review: This book has tought me almost all i know about internet security. This book rocks.
Rating: Summary: Great book, for all. Review: Eventhough it's nut quite uptodate, you can't expect much better from a book. A new version for linux is on the way so you can keep on going.
Rating: Summary: Don't be misled... Review: The problem with books such as these are that they are point in time. As the internet evolves so will new security exploits. I would consider this a book for people who are new to the internet but would not recommend it for advanced users.
Rating: Summary: In depth security info from a "real" hackers point of view. Review: "Maximum Security" is by far the best security related book for people interested in security who have a "basic" knowledge in computers. This book is good for sysadmins. Unfortunately, it allows for danger of malicious users to take advantage of the info. I can tell that this books was written by a "real" hacker. This individual(aka anonymous) has extensive knowledge of the internet, and makes it easy to understand for intermediate users(not in security, just basic computers). This book is a must have for anyone interested in computer security. For more advanced readers, get "Hacker Proof: The Ultimate Guide to Network Security" available at "www.amazon.com" the #1 source for computer books!
Rating: Summary: Good Book, Not Enough Meat Though Review: Still a good book, and much updated. Good background information. But still only references and references... Where is the real thing?
Rating: Summary: Great, comprehensive and easy to follow Review: Maximum Security was, and still is the best book on security, hackers, etc. All other books just explain what they do, and how to stop it. Max. Security gives detailed descriptions on how to perform the hack, tools to use, and much more! I recommend this book to anyone that is interested in computers and security.
Rating: Summary: Great Comprehensive Overview of Web Security Review: Although it lacks the depth necessary to become a "hacker", thus not allowing you to become a suffisticated security engineer, it does provide a great overview of the internet security. Its fun and easy to read. SOMEBODY EMAIL ME IF YOU RECOMMEND MORE Technical INternet Security books!
