Summary: Not a bad Choice
Review: I bought this along with a few other study guides for this exam. I always make sure to use multiple sources as I can gather strong information from all of them. This book, contrary to some opinions expressed here, is decent. There are errors, but a fairly complete listing can be found on the syngress site. To be fair, the other books I bought also had errors- This had great Two Minute drill sections which allow me to review the important chapter aspects in a short time span (i.e. lunchtime at work)... I found the CD decent, with an on-line version of the study guide which allowed me to throw it in my laptop and not have to lug the book around. I passed the exam, and this book really helped me do that.

Review: I was using this book to help cover my weak areas, but upon reading the text I found myself even more confused. This book has so many errors that it can seriously make you doubt yourself, and your knowlege.

Review: I expected quite a bit more than what I got out of this book. I was very disappointed in the level of typos and errors in the study-questions, especially for the price. Why should I have to go their web site to get the correct information when they should have delivered it the first time (as developers we all know how much we like getting ServicePacks). You would be better off using MSPress Study Series rather than using this.

Summary: For you to pass the exams.
Review: Like many other Exam study guide. It was never meant to be a comprehensive VB programmer's guide. Its a study guide (with couple typos) and does the job it was written for. That is to pass the exams. If you want in depth meterial then buy the MSDN CDs and the Mastering Series from Microsoft. You will pass the exams with this book. Chapters 8 I thought was extremly good even better than how Microsoft press handled ADO (command and connection). If you are looking for a programmer guide, this is not the book for you. However if you want to pass the exam, give it try.

Summary: This book is rife with errors.
Review: There are errors in at least (8) of the (13) chapters in this book. I suspect the publishers rushed this study guide to print.I used this book to prepare for the 70-176 exam and other than the mistakes mentioned, found it lacking. Although the book's format is very readable and the information it contains provides a good base for learning VB 6.0, the book fails to meet it's objective. I used this book, and Visual Basic 6.0 as my main guide for preparation. When I took the test I found that the exam required a level of knowledge of MS SQL Server 7.0 that is beyond what this book delivers. Unfortunately there appears to be no alternative to this book. It appears to be the only game in town, for now.

Summary: As a study guide, it succeeds in guiding your study
Review: Remembering that (as the cover states) this is a Study Guide, who would expect that this would be the only thing one would go through for the test? Go through this book, use its rather good breakdown of certification objectives (maps closely to the test) to identify those areas in which you still need assistance, then go hit the transcenders. Hard. It works. You will pass. I did. Just don't expect this one tool (or any single tool for that matter) to fully prepare you for an exam of this nature.

Review: I did find errors in the book, BUT they do not make this a bad book. Most of the errors are identified on the Syngress website. I have found that the material presented in the text is strong, accurate and concise. I've passed the exam and attribute a great part of my passing to this book.
