Summary: pretty good but has too many errors, doesnt cover ISDN!
Review: I took the ICRC class and bought this book to study for the CCNA book. The book maps pretty well to the ICRC class but it has a lot of errors in it and it does not cover the ISDN details. But the coverage of IP addressing and subnetting is awesome. Get this book and the Lammle CCNA book for the CCNA test.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best self paced study guide
Review: I used the ICRC book to study for the CCNA test and found 68 out of 70 questions on the test were covered by the book. It took me 30-40 hours of study and I practiced on a router for a couple of days. I passed the test first try and I don't really work with routers on a daily basis.

Its not often you can find a self study book that really has the information you need, but this one does!

Summary: I passed the CCNA exam using this book.
Review: I used this book to help me pass the CCNA exam on my first attempt. I found the explanations in this book to be a big help in remembering the CCNA material. I also used the CCNA Virtual Lab e-trainer to practice using the Cisco IOS commands.

Summary: Just an introduction...
Review: I'm rather newbie in the Cisco router world so I tried to find a book to help me get up and running my new Cisco 803 ISDN router. While I did find some helpful informations about boot processes and basic configuration theory, I am rather decieved of this book because every subjet is only treated superficially. Besides examples given are taken from IOS 11, not being up to date anymore within the last version 12.0. There are no basic command references at all, which makes the use of this single book for practical configuration purposes insufficient. (And if you try to get more help on the cisco website you're drown in a huge amount of poorly organised technical infos!) Also ISDN is not treated at all in this book. It maybe a introduction book to internetworking, indeed the first 4 chapters deal with this topic. Only starting from chapter 5, the introduction to basic router configuration really begins, unfortunately nothing more in substance...

Summary: Great!!!
Review: ICRC book is excellent! This book is well written and covers MOST of the material. I also used the Sybex CCNA book by Todd Lammle, also a great book, which covered details that ICRC did not cover and vice versa.

Summary: *WARNING* - THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR NEWBIES
Review: If you are a newbie to Cisco routers and want to pass the CCNA exam then avoid this book like the plague! I had to supplement this one with at least 2 other books and this has cheesed me off big time considering its extortionate price. For example, ISDN is totally neglected, diagrams are incorrect, and there are errors in the router prompts ("config" instead of "config-if"). This last one could sting you in the exam. In disgust I went back to the book shop and thumbed through the New Riders book and immediately determined it was vastly superior (it had a chapter on ISDN). The ISBN is 0735700516. Also get a copy of the CCNA practice exam book (ISBN 0072120525); it is invaluable for preparing for the real exam.

Summary: Great book, not for the test though
Review: If you are looking to pass the CCNA exam, but the Sybex CCNA book. If you are looking for great information on introduction to Cisco routers buy this book. This book doesn't prepare you for the exam. It is actually misleading that they put CCNA on the cover, it is ICRC. The ICRC class (or this book) does not cover the CCNA test objectives.

Summary: Excellent
Review: If you are thinking about CCNA, this is THE book. I just passed my CCNA using only this ICRC book. I also use it everyday as a reference. Get it !

Summary: Great Book
Review: Just scored 91% on CCNA exam using this book and Lammle's CCNA study guide. Both books are good, but this book is so well written and has so much extra info that I'm sure I'll be using it as a reference book in the future.
