Rating: Summary: You will appreciate this book. It is great for self-study. Review: Last fall, I completed a required university course on advanced networking concepts. As a result I became interested in learning more about the Cisco family of products and certification paths. So, I purchased Laura Chappell's ICRC book after exploring Cisco's website.I finished reading it on Friday and I can honestly say that it is great! The material is well written, the 16 chapters are appropriately structured, and all information is highly informative. I discovered that most of the instructor-led, five-day courses follow the format of this book. You will learn about the internetworking model, network layer and path determination, router operations, IP addressing, and IP routing configuration. Also, the book covers configurations for Novell IPX, AppleTalk, X.25 377, frame relay, and a host of other related information. Buy it now!!!!!!!!! Della M.
Rating: Summary: Excellent companion book to the CCNA program. Review: Laura Chappell has done it again. This book is a wonderfull companion for the Cisco academy courseware.
Rating: Summary: Combine with Lammle's CCNA guide for great exam prep Review: Put this book together with Lammle's CCNA Study Guide and you've got a winning combination for this exam. Chappell's book will do a better job of explaining router configuration. However it doesn't cover all of the exam objectives and hence there is a need for a second book. This book is good enough though to get the MCSETutor.com stamp of approval.

Rating: Summary: Excellent preparation for the CCNA Exam Review: Several of our staff used this book to prepare for the CCNA. Passed on the first attempt. Good structure, well planned material and concise. Lot of substance without the fluff. I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: Watch the price Review: The book is fine , amazon's price is not . You can buy this for less at your local store, without the shipping charge.
Rating: Summary: You may pass - BUT!! Review: The Lammle book will get you to pass the exam - And make no mistake about it, it is MUCH easier to sift through. However, if you want to do very well (80% or more) you really should get this book! There are little quark questions that pop up on the test that are taken from this book.. word for word.. and are NOT covered in the other books. Remember, with cisco certification, the cisco way is the RIGHT way.. like it or not!
Rating: Summary: This is THE book to get for the CCNA program Review: The only fault I have with it is its coverage of IP subnetting which is woeful. It is much better than the one from Osbourne (although they did explain subnetting well)
Rating: Summary: The only book you need for CCNA Review: This book covers 95% of what is on the CCNA. And doesn't cover more than you need for the CCNA. If you want more detail read Advanced Cisco Router Configuration, if you want to pass with a 90% or better read this one.
Rating: Summary: Exact copy of the course material Review: This book is a replicate of the course material used in the ICRC course. It has additional explanation and examples which were not mentioned in the course book. Disadvantge, no lab exercises, but compensated with additional examples. Looking for cheaper way instead of attending the course? Buy this book, borrow a router(s) (2501s) and work with the examples.
