Summary: One of the most comprehensive books of its kind.
Review: I am a culinary student concentrating on baking/pastries and this is one of the best books on the subject I have found, for both beginners and experienced bakers alike. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Most chocolate cakes terrible!
Review: I attempted to make three of Ms. Beranbaum's chocolate cakes following her directions to the letter. The ingredients were also exact- Dutch cocoa was used in those recipes that called for it. I was most disappointed in the results. After using so much unsalted butter in the cakes (as the recipe calls for) they were quite dry. No one in my household would eat them; I ended up throwing three cakes away. After using such high quality ingredients-why would Duncan Hines be better? Perhaps the author has no feeling for chocolate cake. D. Erickson

Summary: Best cake book ever!
Review: Possibly the best collection of cake data ever put together. Every recipe I've tried is perfect and delectable. A whole section is devoted to cooking for a crowd. This book is a must for the budding entrepreneur baker. The white chocolate cheesecake with the suggested buttercream is a classic for everyone. Thank you Rose!

Summary: Only God could write a better book on cakes.
Review: This book completely changed the way I think about cakes. Beranbaum explains the theory behind all of her recipes, producing an understanding that ordinary recipe books never seek, much less attain. And its entertaining too.

Summary: Fabulous book; fabulous woman!
Review: I was making a cake for a friend's wedding (only my second attempt at a wedding cake) and the bride's mother had requested that the raspberry buttercream have no seeds in it. As I was using Rose's recipe for the buttercream I tried in vain to find the suggested Cuisinart attachment for removing the seeds from the berries. After contacting the people at Cuisinart (the item is not longer made), I searched around until I was able to find a means to contact Ms. Beranbaum herself. She was gracious enough to call me at home with some other suggestions for seed removal. I ended up sieving the seeds out, which took quite a long time, but was worth the effort! The frosting was excellent and I have made the raspberry puree' again for personal use. Try it drizzled over brownies and ice cream or use it to make a wonderful vinaigrette. If you want to try an easy, yet spectacularly delicious chocolate cake, try the Chocolate Domingo cake. We love to eat it practically straight out of the oven. My husband, while not the family baker, can make this just as well as I can. As a previous reviewer noted, this book is good just as reading material. Ms. Beranbaum has included some very entertaining anecdotes, like the story of her brother's wedding cake and the big storm. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: The most informative book on cake baking I have ever seen.
Review: I bake and enter cakes in county fair competitions. I have won many ribbons but the number of blue ribbons I am winning has soared since I received this book as a gift. Every cake I have made from this book not only turns out perfect ... every one I have entered in my local fair has won the blue ribbon in class i.e. Best Chocolate Cake, Best White Cake, etc.

For recipes that will win the hearts of your family and friends, this book can't be beat. With the most detailed instructions I have ever seen and wonderful color photographs you can bake a simple Sunday supper cake for the family or an elaborate show stopper for a black tie affair.

If I want to make a cake, I reach for this book first of the many cook books I have on my shelf.

Summary: Rose Levy Beranbaum is a genius!
Review: A must have book! I tried six recipes and they were all winners. The instructions are easy to follow and very thorough. I have all of Ms Beranbaum's books and have had the same excellent results from every one of them.

Summary: RLB is my hero!
Review: I don't know how she does it, but she somehow explains these cakes in a way that makes them so simple to make. And yet what comes out is some of the most gorgeous and delicious cakes you and your guests will ever see and taste! My favorite is what I think she calls the triple chocolate cake, there is a picture of it in the front, with hazelnuts. I swear that making one of these for a birthday party is easy and yet the best you'll ever taste. I'll buy anything Ms. Levy Berenbaum ever publishes!

Summary: If you only buy one baking book, this should be the one.
Review: THE CAKE BIBLE is by far the most definitive cake baking book on the market. Not only are the recipes practically foolproof for most every kind of cake, there are thorough and informative descriptions for WHY certain methods are used over other methods. I've had this book for over five years already, and still learn something new from it each time I try out a new recipe.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The most used cookbook in our collection.
Review: Ms. Beranbaum does not over-reach by calling this book a "bible." Her precision, clarity and guaranteed results exceed both Julia Child and Martha Stewart. We bought The Cake Bible when it was first published and use it exclusively for cakes (and waffles!) and for wedding and hostess gifts. Brava, Rose!
