Summary: a definitive cookbook for vegans or those who love them
Review: How It All Vegan, quite simply, is the best vegan (or vegetarian) cookbook I have ever encountered. Unlike other vegan cookbooks in our collection, the recipes in HIAV are delicious and never bland. Most fall in the easy-to-make category with easy-to-find ingredients (in most cases, using ingredients you already have in your pantry). I am not vegan but am married to one. This book has solved a lot of problems for those nights when you just don't know what to cook or don't have the time/energy to come up with a vegan substitution for something on your own (e.g. parmesan cheese or shepherd's pie, both of which are exceptional here). Not only is our copy well worn, but we have purchased copies to give as gifts. Meat-eating guests have been quite pleased with the results as well, often asking for a copy of a recipe once they've eaten at our house. I cannot say enough good things about this book.

Summary: Great Reference and Gift
Review: I would recommend this book to new vegans and folks that are kitchen-wary. This is not a book for people who don't like vegetables. I go back to this book all the time, at least once a week. The recipes are simple, and easy to make substitutions and adjustments to taste. Surprisingly, I don't so much use the entrees as I do the reference info, breakfast, spread, and dessert ideas. Good section on dealing with food and kids. My only complaint would be that several of the recipes rely on vegan "soy cheese" which can be dificult to find.

Summary: Please stop saying vegan diets are problematic!
Review: ... My review. This book is quite good. We've made a "cheese" sauce, lasagne, and a salad dressing from the book and really enjoyed them. They were fairly easy recipes with not too many weird ingredients. They also have a great section to help you make some kid projects and household cleaners. Fun and easy. Worth having.

Summary: I'm in Love
Review: I love the Book.
I love the food.
I love how easy it is.
The uniqueness of this cookbook is the ease of using it, I don't understand how some people use that as negative aspect. It's great for beginners and experts in the vegan cooking field. The most appealing trait should be that the recipes share ingredients across the board. Like in their dessert section, you really only need about 20 or so ingredients and you could make ALL of their desserts. You don;t have to go to some special whole foods store (like so many other vegan cookbooks) just to get an unpronouncable ingredient. I have given these as gifts and EVERYONE loves it!!

Summary: Not worth it...
Review: Honestly, I don't understand all the positive reviews on this book. I've been a vegan for about 4 years, and this book really lacks substance! The only people I would recommend this book for would be teenagers starting out on veganism. If you know your way around the kitchen, and have been vegan for awhile...you will be completely BORED with this book!!!

The only positive thing I can say about this book, is that it has a relatively interesting chapter on making your own safe household cleaners, basically by using vinegar and baking soda.

I don't even want this one in my cookbook repertoire. I'd like to get rid of it. Sorry.

Summary: Funnest Cookbook Ever!
Review: This pretty green and yellow book stands out because it's fun AND easy to follow AND 100% good for you. So rarely does one cookbook possess all three qualities.

This is a very #1 cookbook for someone who is just starting to explore meatless cooking. You won't find any brown, superdense lentil-and-wheatgerm hippie mama casseroles here. Instead, the authors share favorite childhood recipes, fresh and easy to prepare salads and yummy desserts. Yes, vegans do eat chocolate and gorge on sushi and make filling food that sticks to your ribs. The lucky ones do, at least.

If you're serious about making a lifetime committment to animal, earth and tummy friendly eating, it's important to have fun. You won't outlast your early twenties if you spend too much time scowling about recipes that have (gasp!) honey in them. "How it all Vegan" isn't a perfect book, but it's the only cookbook in the world that has a recipe for Fart Sandwiches.

Summary: Awesome people write awesome books!
Review: This is a must have for any beginning or long time vegan. With fresh and creative ideas, it can inspire even the laziest of us vegans! Complete with measurements at the back, and an animal ingredient appendix, it can pretty much be the only cookbook you'll need. The brownies are amazing, the breads are yummy and there is even a kiddie section for those little vegan-tots! Hooray! Lots of easy dishes with simple ingredients, and tonnes of new recipes too. It oozes with passion from these two rad women, one of whom I've met in Victoria and is as nice as pie! Mhhmmmm, pie...How nice is it to support such great people, who believe so strongly and whole heartedly in what they do. Kudos to the authors and to anyone that buys it!

Summary: Wonderful book!
Review: This is my favorite vegan cookbook. Sarah and Tanya did a great job with this book. It has recipes for food and for household items.

This is a must have for anyone vegetarian, vegan, or even non-vegans. It has something for everyone.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Simple, excellent vegan recipes and information
Review: The recipes in this book contain relatively few ingredients and are easy to follow. I have enjoyed MANY items from this book and haven't been disappointed yet. I have several other vegan cookbooks, and they are filled with unusual ingredients or recipes that take too long to be practical. This one is definitely user-friendly and well worth the price.
