Summary: Amazing
Review: It is really quite amazing the way God used Keith Green for his 7 years as a Christian. It's an amazing the impact his ministry made in such a short time before the Lord took him home at the ripe old age of 28. This is a pretty powerful biography.

I was a little worried though over John Dawson coming into Keith's life. He seemed to be feeding Keith some bad doctrine, even if very subtly, and seemed to be a flatterer, trying to tell Keith how big he was going to be. His prophecies were proven false though when Keith suddenly died in a plane crash. It's amazing how Keith, Melody, or Keith's mentors never seemed to see this.

Overall though, this book is a powerful testimony of what God will do with a willing vessel. How God can raise a man out of obscurity to be a prophetic voice that, though he be dead still speaks.

Summary: Real good, but not for what you think...
Review: It's been nearly ten years since I've last read _No Compromise_, but there are elements in this book that stand out for me. In particular, the entire "revival" scene that took place at ORU should be studied and discussed by thinking Christians everywhere. In short, Keith Green prayed for a revival to come, had a free concert (which always consisted more of preaching than singing), and on the third day... people started crying and praying for repentance. Lines of people streamed to the stage to give public confessions... many were prostrate on the floor... but it's what happened next that's the real enigma. An administrator at ORU took the microphone and said something to the effect that counselors will be available for people's repentance, and then handed it back to Keith Green. Green, not expecting that, uncomfortably ended with a few sing-a-long hymns, as the "movement" had stopped as soon as it began.

Now, the question is... who was right? Was Green following the Spirit, and was revival crushed by the powers-that-be that demanded order? Or were emotionalisms coming to the surface that the powers-that-be saw as very possibly going out of control... and chose instead to channel these graces through safer, guarded, and logical means?

There are two sides to this, and the book takes Green's side (naturally), but the very question deserves mention, as it trickles down to other movements, such as Toronto, Pensecola, the Wheaton revival, and the U.K. Is there a balanced middle ground between church authority and the fresh moves of the Holy Spirit? How does one find that?

There are other examples of Green's radical Christianity that are written about. They are interesting to read, especially today, now that (a) CCM has gotten more commericalized and secular (not that that's a bad thing), (b) community-living has decreased dramatically for varied reasons, (c) wonderful Catholic books have been written to successfully counter the anti-Catholic tracts that Green wrote.

If today, a movement were to begin that would take the lessons learned from Green's life experiences, coupled with a trust of church authority that's logical and God-ordained, and match that with the astronomical level of zeal that Green had, we would have a revival that would burn for a long time.

Summary: Do you have 'ears to hear' this message?
Review: NO COMPROMISE is just that; a powerful, straight forward telling of the life of child musical prodigy come 70's-era preacher Keith Green. For as long as I can remember I have heard his music. I was practically raised on it. Yet it took me until 2002 to actually read this book. The experience was well worth it; his wife Melody did a good job considering lyric composition seems to be her forte.

The book is not too short and not so long as to scare away the somewhat-interested. As I think back on the book, it really is quite an amazing summation of Keith's short 28 years. Melody has included many small stories throughout the prose; stories of personal revalations, hilarious experiences, and tragic occurances. We see the human side of this man who was so often held up as God-like figure in Christian music. How fascinating it was for me-a fan of Keith's music for two decades-to read all these little anecdotes, diary clippings, journal entries, and especially information behind the writing of so many powerful songs. The scope of the book is impressive just because of the number of people drawn into Keith and Melody's circle. Many, many well known people are referred to and quoted. I had no idea there was a Bob Dylan connection and friendship for example.

NO COMPROMISE is a powerful book that follows Keith from his infant Christianity thru his maturing process and eventually, his untimely death. The end of the book is difficult if only because it seems so sudden, but that's how it really was. This is the story of how God worked in the lives of two young people and changed millions for the better. Thankfully, the story did not end on that July day in Texas, it went on, and continues today.

Recommended.

Summary: The title of this book should be the title of our lives
Review: No Compromise- is the book that means so much to me because it led me back to the Lord. This is a biography of a young man who had a simple background, but lived a powerful, enduring life because he sold-out his life for his Master. Keith was an accomplished musician/songwriter who with his young wife set out on a journey to find God, and once he did- never looked back. His music still reaches people today.

Summary: Do not read this book.... unless you are willing to change.
Review: No Compromise: The Life Story of Keith Green completely changed my life. Keith was an amazing man: a loving father, a no-holds-barred speaker, a dynamic and very talented musician, a modern-day Christian prophet. He pointed a single finger up to his Savior, and brought thousands to him. His ministry endures, after death. "Unless a grain of wheat...."

Summary: A book born of the crucible of suffering....
Review: No single biography has influenced my life and ministry more than No Compromise. Thank you, Melody, for this wonderful gift to the church.

Summary: Good biography of a great man.
Review: The reader will find this book personally challenging, inspiring, and moving. Even for those unfamiliar with the incredible (yet short) career of Keith Green cannot help but feel a certain level of conviction as well as a measure of inspiration in the life of this disciple of Christ. This biography tells the story of Keith Green's life from a variety of angles, but perhaps the most significant is the account it gives of his growth in faith. I read this book and was spiritually and emotionally moved to know the God that Keith Green worshipped in a personal and intimate way. Highly recommended.
