Summary: One of the best books I have read!
Review: When Karen Duffy was "Duff" you could feel her "life". Even after she was diagosed with her illness, she continued in the public's eye. Seeing her on talk shows and reading stories about her, you could feel her "life". Karen is truly a happy person who has joy in her heart. Her book is uplifting, making you smile, cry and feel joy in your heart! It was a book I could not put down. This is a book that many people should read. She is an inspiration. Thank you Karen!!!!

Summary: Model Patient
Review: I picked up Model Patient as a big Duff fan, but thinking it might be another illness-porn sellout. Not a chance. Karen Duffy's personal brand of tough-as-nails goofiness is, in fact, a great update on the idea of grace under pressure. When I stopped laughing--which took a while--I realized that Duff's approach to the illness she recounts in this book was an act of courage and imagination. Model Patient, in its no-nonsense love of life, has more to offer those in similar situations than any number of smarmy "inspirational" books. It's also a hilarious unvarnished account of celebrity circles and a truly moving love story. Duff serves up the real thing--with a welcome side of twisted humor.

Summary: Thanks, Duff!
Review: My best friend has severe symptoms of Sarcoidosis and just sent me Karen Duffy's book. I didn't know much about Duff until I began reading her hilarious and horrendous stories of suffering with this mysterious disease.

Duff is doing a world of good by putting a face and a name to Sarcoidosis and pushing for a cure. And she's giving Sarcoidosis patients--and anyone who's ever thought THEY had problems--a reason to laugh in the face of adversity!

Summary: Admirable!!
Review: How wonderful is it that someone can pull the good out of horrible situation. There should be more people in this world with the attitude of Karen; Maybe everyone would live longer, "WITH" or "WITHOUT" a disease. I hope she has reached the hearts of all those with her disease or any other and put a smile on thier face and given them a new outlook on LIFE!!! Great Job Karen !!

Summary: seriously funny
Review: I saw Karen Duffy on the TV show, Dateline, and I was intrigued because she seemed like a funny, insightful person. I bought her book and I wasn't disappointed. I couldn't put it down. It was hilarious. I laughed out loud ten times. ( I also cried when I read the chapter written by her husband.) I highly recommend Model Patient for anyone who needs practical advice on dealing with a serious illness, anyone with a friend or family member who is sick and could use some good cheering up, or anyone who likes comedy.

Summary: An Interesting Take...
Review: If you are a fan of Karen Duffy's irreverant antics or just a fan of irreverance in general, this is a book for you. Karen tells her story from the early years to now. She fills it with little juicy bits from her years on the celebrity circuit and it is certainly a page turner. She tells the story of a woman dealing with an incredible illness, a woman who never makes an attempt to be politically correct or apologetic for her feelings or opinions. Certainly, not what I would consider a self-help book in any way, it is full of facts and jokes, but not a lot of actual coping suggestions. An enjoyable page turner.

Summary: Duff's got moxie!
Review: I laughed out loud while reading this book! Clearly Duff's moxie and gumption has kept her going throughout her grueling battle with sarcoidosis. It is so rare to hear about someone who has faced the hardships that she has with such humor and zest. The fact that she continued to work in spite of being so sick, in between her visits to the hospital and to the doctor, speak volumes about her strength and focus. She should be an inspiration to all who face any kind of illness.

Summary: I almost missed this gem.
Review: This book was just given to me as a gift, and my first thought was 'Why would I want to read a book about an ex-VJ.' Well, nobody was more surprised than me, as once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. I laughed out loud at every page of what turned out to be a gripping and surely very inspiring story. If we could tap and bottle Ms. Duffy's spirit, this would be a much healthier happier (and amusing) world.

Summary: Live, Love and Laugh
Review: This book is terrific. Funny, touching and irreverent.Duff really does a great job letting people know that an illness is not a death sentance and even if your illness could be terminal you need to live, love and laugh. Her love affair with modern medicine is remarkable. I highly recoomend this book to anyone who needs a good laugh and some great insights into truly human behaviors by a women appears to be down to earth and very very real.
