Summary: tag along with duff
Review: In her book, Duff takes you with her to the Emmys, MTV even on a few dates with Chris Farley. I laughed on every page! Even as she tells of her days stuck in a hospital bed, or too sick to move out of bed, you feel for her and get a better understadning of what someone with a rare and serious illness goes through. It was very well written and admire her even more now that I how she is batteling this illness. It was inspitational, I couldn't put it down. I just bought five more copies for my friends! Keep going Duff!

Review: An incredibly funny, inspiring, and interesting book. I bought it and couldn't put this book down until I finished! I continue to pick up this book, turn to any page, and laugh out loud! Duff's natural style of writing makes this book such a great read.

Summary: Don't waste your money, donate it to Sarcoidosis Research
Review: I am a Sarcoidosis sufferer and know first hand what it is like to have this dibilitating disease. Karen Duffy's book is not about her disease it is about how many dates she had and who she hung out with. She talks about how this disease effected her life in terms of her "dating meter". She tells of the pain but not without dropping a few celebrity names first. I think she just wants people to know who she is not what she has. If I had to do over I would not buy this book I would instead donate the money to SARCOIDOSIS RESEARCH. Write to National Sarcoidosis Resource Center PO Box 1593 Piscataway, NJ 08855-1593 to find out how you can help. Take it from a woman who has Sarcoidosis I know what I am talking about.

Summary: The first book from a patient's perspective on Sarcoidosis
Review: I found this book to be invaluable to those of us that suffer with this rare autoimmune disorder Sarcoidosis. And even more invaluable to those of us afflicted with the even rarer form of the disease - Neurosarcoidosis (as it primarily affects people in the lungs). The is hardly any medical information out there on sarcoidosis in general. Just do a search here on Amazon to see - and most that is available is from 20 yrs ago before most of the recent studies on this disorder were even conducted. The fact that it is told from a celebritie's point of view in the seat of patient - is what really makes this book such a find. Most of us with sarcoidosis have noone that really understands what a debilitating, horrible,life-threatening disease this is. And it is a comfort to see someone write about this disease. Most of the medical profession is even clueless about this disease (except for the university and research center experts). Hopefully, we will begin to see more come out in public about this disease. And I commend Karen Duffy on writing it as she has started the ball rolling. It's so nice to see a celebrity using her stardom for the good of others. I found the book extremely easy to read and very understandable, not to mention funny and uplifting to me during this rough time (as I was just recently diagnosed with Neurosarcoidosis and have been undergoing chemotherapy). I found her stories and her experiences that she shared to be of great support to me and even hope-inspiring during this rough patch of my life. It's nice to see a success story concerning this mysterious disease. Keep writing Duffy!

Summary: Very good, actually
Review: The book is excellent for its type, and unusual.

While fully acknowledging the horrors of her sarcoidosis, Duffy makes the point that deathly illness needn't result in exactly the sort of crushing depression that would allow the illness to triumph. Her book goes beyond the bromide that "laughter is the best medicine" to examine the actual practice of survival. That she is even in a position to recount her ordeal and that she does so in such an engaging way and with such good humor are a testament to the utility and sincerity of her outlook.

"Death Be Not Proud" it ain't, and neither is it a clinical guide to the grieving process...and clearly Duffy doesn't want it to be either one. Certainly her condition is both very real and very dire, and a little levity in the face of all that misfortune is a relief after the maudlin weepiness of so much latter-day disease literature. I recommend it heartily, particularly to the similarly afflicted and those who love them.

Summary: Well, I enjoyed it a lot
Review: I'm a little surprised by such strong reactions to this book, because I really liked it and would recommend it to anyone who asked, or even without asking. I wonder if the people who didn't like it actually finished the book, because it's really the story of a person who grows tremendously while battling a deadly illness. I do enjoy reading memoirs, and this was by far above the level of most.

Summary: Wow! I couldn't put it down
Review: I remember Duff from her days as a VJ so I pick up her book out of curiosity. I started reading in the store and finally bought it when I realized I was into chapter 3 without stopping! I was trying to walk down the street reading it and bumping into people because I didn't want to stop reading. I finished it last night on the same day I bought it. It's warm, touching, moving, etc but it's also really funny! Definitely NOT like other books about sick people or famous people. Buy a copy for anybody you know who likes good books, not just sick people!

Summary: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Review: Model Patient is an incredibly funny, inspirational, and interesting book -- I highly recommend it!

Summary: A must NOT read !
Review: Do not waste your time buying or reading this book. This woman obviously is using her disease to put herself back in the limelight. It seems she was lucky to be discovered, has little or no talent, and is only using her sickness on a self promotion tour. This is an insult to all those who have truely suffered in their life. If this woman had any integrity she would take any proceeds recieved from this book and donate ALL to organizations that actually help the less fortunate (or lucky in her case) who have suffered. When are people going to stop being "hooked" by this garbage? Wait and see.

Summary: Sickening
Review: Horribly written. I use to be a big fan but I feel sorry for celebrities who have to stay in ther limelight by exploiting tragedy. She should just go away.
