Summary: An Outstanding Value
Review: The front cover of this book proudly proclaims, "Full transcriptions from the original recordings. Every song written & recorded by the Beatles." Think about it: the complete scores for every Beatles song--and all for such a affordable price. Wow! What an incredible deal!Although I have managed to find a few mistakes, I believe that the overall quality of the transcriptions is very high. The copyright page reveals that they were completed by Tetsuya Fujita, Yuji Hagino, Hajime Kubo and Goro Sato. These gentlemen are to be congratulated for completing such an immense work of over 1100 pages! I believe it when it states that "a great deal of effort has been put into presenting these performances in musical notation that is as faithful as possible to the original recordings." (p. 11) Some have suggested that there may be some other individual transcriptions that are more faithful to the original for a few songs, particularly those involving orchestral instruments. Perhaps. I ask, what will it cost you to amass the entire collection of Beatles scores individually, and how much effort will it take to locate them all? For all of the people who have criticized this book, not one single reviewer to date has provided an alternative recommendation that includes the complete scores to all Beatles songs. That's because one does not exist. I've got a number of guitar transcription books to The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Creedence Clearwater Revival, etc. These books all fall short in one way. What are you going to do for the bass guitar and the drums? You have to go out and try to find a book for those parts--if they even exist, which they probably don't. Does anyone know of the complete scores to other major artists like Elvis, Frank Sinatra, or the Rolling Stones? I don't think they exist either, and if they do, they probably cost a lot more than that what this book does. Friends, I cannot think of a better music book for a rock musician to have than this book. According to "The Billboard Book of Top 40 Albums" (Revised & Enlarged 3rd Edition) by Joel Whitburn, the Beatles are the number one artist of the rock era (according to Billboard's ranking system). The Beatles achievements include most weeks at number one, and most number one albums. This book is not to be underestimated in its importance. Growing up, I was never a really big fan of the Beatles, and there were a lot of other groups that I liked better. But when I started taking up the guitar, I decided to pick up "The Beatles Complete Scores" simply for educational purposes. After studying these scores, my appreciation of their talents has grown immensely, and these scores have provided me with many hours of enjoyment. I recommend this book highly.

Summary: This is about as close as they're gonna get, However...
Review: This book is definitively the best book to get on the actual music of the Beatles and at this time there isn't anything closer, Yet ! I, having played in Beatlemania, highly suggest this book to the hard core Beatles fans. There are, however, some mistakes in this book and it is not perfect, close, but not perfect. The book size and text size should definitely be increased, even if you have to pay more money for it, because there is alot of information here, too much for such a small book. I gave it 5 stars because of the vast amount of information. It is a must for Beatlemania want-to-be's ! I have it and I'll buy it again if they increase the book and text size.

Summary: A great guide for me!
Review: Hello! I'm Cristina, from Argentina, I've read the book and I think it's great. I play the drums and here it's really difficult to find books that have the drum's part. As I'm a big fan of The Beatles, this book was like a dream come true. I find it very complete, and easy to understand, although it's not written in the way I'm used to read music. I think it is a good option for people like me.

Review: If you are a musician and love the Beatles, then you must buy this book. It is the most amazingly accurate transcription of their songs I have seen. Not only does it cover the songs the group wrote, it also covers the songs written by others and performed by the Beatles. It also gives great insight to their individual style. A must buy!

Summary: The best book there is
Review: I have owned at one time or another the 4 Lennon McCartney song books. The major flaw with those books was that they replicated the melody line and attached a chord, but in most cases they came nowhere near the actual arrangements. This is particularly true on piano based hits such as Hey Jude, Letit Be, Yesterday, Lady Madonna, Back in the USSR etc. This book gets the original arrangements as played by the Beatles which are generally much better and actually easier to play a lot of times. You can discern McCartney's piano style which is not technically difficult. After all you are accompanying a voice and not playing a melody. So when you attempt Let it Be it sounds so much better, and with Hey Jude you think that's all he did to make that sound. Lady Madonna enables you to sound ridiculously accomplished playing something that is technically quite easy. Obviously I am approaching this from a piano player's viewpoint. I have found this book to be unbelievably helpful. You are getting some of the Beatles trade secrets here. You finally get to see the outside the box thinking that separated the Beatles from the rest. I rate this book the best sheet music investment I have ever made, and a must for any aspiring musician.

Review: Although it has some little mistakes, the book is perfect, especially for the keyboard players, who can compile all the non-basic instruments in a keyboard, not losing any detail of the songs.

Review: hey i love this book & it's the only of it's kind, so stop whining you guys& besides when it was printed. real love , free as a bird were'nt heard of then . if your beatle freak like i am, get this book & rock on into the night, have fun. Review: Most of these transcriptions have some error or other, but that isn't my main complaint. My main complaint is that you get the lead vocal line, the basic bass pattern, the basic drum pattern, and chord symbols, and everything else is hit or miss (mostly miss, but I do appreciate the hits; the hits are why I've given this three stars and not one star). The lead vocal line, the basic bass pattern, the basic drum pattern, and chord symbols are just what you can easily take off the record yourself. For songs with arrangements not guitar or keyboard oriented, for "Eleanor Rigby", "Within You and Without You", and many other songs, these transcriptions are almost completely useless. Several writers have complained about the small print. These writers are evidently unfamiliar with "miniature" or "study" scores. (Full-size scores are prohibitively expensive to purchase; conductors usually rent them.) Nevertheless, what we find in this book, which resembles a set of scores in some ways (not enough to justify the title), could easily be enlarged if tablature for two guitars, tablature for bass guitar, and chord diagrams were removed--and at no loss whatsoever to the content. (Stop whining: if you want to read Beatles music, first you need to learn to read music; it's not that tough.) One more thing: By "complete", the title means every song the Beatles recorded and released to the general public while the Beatles existed is included here. I don't want to hear anyone else lamenting the absence of "Free as a Bird". Thank you.

Summary: great but small print
Review: This is a great book. There are some mistakes but none that are too bad. Where else are you going to find such a resourceful book? If you like the Beatles, get it. But i must emphasize the fact that the print is small! So small that chords written in TAB are staggered. Also, the TAB notation is a little strange.

Review: This book is great! Except for the fact that the book print is tiny, and in some cases can give one a headache, it is a great book. I have not yet found any of the mistakes I've heard about, but I'm sure they are there. Also, this book is missing the transcriptions for Free As A Bird and Real Love, but then no book's perfect, is it?
