Rating: Summary: Brilliant just brilliant Review: This book was the funniest book and whoever thinks is is dumb needs to get a reality check because obvioulsy they have no good taste in anything.
Rating: Summary: NO NAKED PEOPLE!!!!! Review: A FEW WORDS:::::NO NAKED PEOPL
Rating: Summary: a set of tv sketches does not a book make Review: my wife and i each read this book in 1 evening (it's short, folks), and both had the same impression: a series of hit-and-miss sketches somewhat appropriate for a SNL-type setting, but not really worth it as a book.
Rating: Summary: boring Review: borin
Rating: Summary: funniest book I ever read Review: Anybody who didn't like this book, especially for some dumb reason like vulgarness, get with the times. If you don't like a book because it has some bad words in it, go to hell
Rating: Summary: Jon at his finest Review: After reading his book I am very thrilled that Jon will be hosting The Daily Show. He has a natural talent for humor and a catchy wit that makes you wanting more, 5 stars Jon you have out done yourself. (btw "the cult" will leaving you rolling on the floor)
Rating: Summary: Jon Stewart is hilarious Review: Jon Stewart's book is original, creative material. It's also fifty times funnier than any show which ever featured Tony Danza. The first vignette, a look at the Kennedy family through the eyes of JFK's young Jewish friend, thoroughly parodies anything and everything about the American Camelot. Later stories on the saga of the Hanson family and the appearance of Adolf Hitler on the Larry King show kept me laughing constantly. Stewart also manages to stay away from recycling old stand-up material. Although I am a huge fan of his stand-up, the book complements his act nicely. One last thing must be added. Before reading this book, buy a spare pair of pants, lest the ones you are wearing be soiled in the ensuing fits of laughter.
Rating: Summary: Finnaly a comedian who wrote a funny book Review: With countless comedians simply transcribing their stand up act onto paper, it's good to see one finally write works of fiction, that are actually funny!!!! Writing in a simular fashion as Woody Allen, Stewart has a way of grabbing and keeping your attention throughout the book with many deranged, silly and very funny essays and other humorous storys. A great read that I'd recomend to any sideshow freak walking the streets, let alone my friends!!!!
Rating: Summary: Well done and worth Review: It was a weird day at the book store. I went in with the idea of buying 2 'humor' books; not something I usually do. So I walk out with Steve Martin's Pure Drivel and this one. 10 pages into both and Mr. Stewart's effort clearly works best. Clever topics, nicely done. The waiter at the 'last supper' had me curled up like a shrimp on the floor with laughter. Loved the 'Revenge' peice as well. I'm not sure why there is so much venom in the other reviews about his jabs at Jews and Christians. Thin skins should never read humor.
Rating: Summary: Pure Garbage - 1 star is too generous Review: Stewart's feeble attempt at humor would have been better placed if scribbled on bathroom walls. From beginning to end, this book is filled with vulgarity, racism and sexism. It is totally without merit. Usually when I finish with a book, I either place it in my bookcase or pass it on to a relative or friend. Stewart's book deserved neither. It went in the dumpster.
