Rating: Summary: Wish I could have given it ZERO stars! Review: What an enormous waste of money and time. I LOVE John Stewart - really, I do! It's why I bought the book. But there wasn't a funny thing about it. Nothing at all. I read every page, waiting for the giggles to happen - as I plainly knew they would. But again, nothing.I am very disappointed. Maybe his humor just doesn't translate well to the printed page. I'll keep watching the Daily Show and his movies though.
Rating: Summary: Dissappointed Fan Review: I'm a huge JS fan (I watch The Daily show, uh, daily) and I was not too impressed with this book. It had a few guffaws -- paticularly the weekend with JFK and the transcripts of the AOL chat hall -- but it mostly only "mildly amusing." Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I was hoping for more.
Rating: Summary: Funniest Damn Book Ever Review: This is the funniest book I have ever read. Don't waste your money on the other stuff. Oh and bye the way, when you get it read "A Very Hanson Christmas", It's really funny!
Rating: Summary: A modern day Woody Allen Review: Having grown up in a Woody Allen household-- my parents are major Allen fans- thanks Mom & Dad!-- I was immediately enthralled by Stewart's book. It not only reminded me of Woody's "Getting Even' and "Without Feathers", it actually matched or exceeded some of Woody's written work at times (Captain Crunch cult, the Kennedys and Hitler interview stand out). For those reviewers who found the book boring or unfunny, go back to chuckling over your "Garfield" treasuries. True literary genius is lost on you.
Rating: Summary: I love smart, funny people . . . Review: . . . because they write smart, funny books. There are only a few really intelligent writers out there, and Jon Stewart is one of them. All of the stories are hysterically funny, and even more so if you are familiar with the source material . . . in my case, Martha Stewart, Hanson, Judaism, and Princess Di / Mother Teresa. When I wasn't familiar with a subject (such as all the people in the Last Supper / Dead Waiter bit), I looked up the real story on the net, and then reread Jon's version - and, of course, laughed harder and faster than before! Thank you, Jon, for assuming a highest-common denominator reader profile . . . we appreciate you and your big words!
Rating: Summary: One of the best written, most imaginative books ever written Review: Jon Stewart truely is a genious. The range he displays in Naked Pictures makes you want to hang out with him on weekends. His overall delivery and wording is truly masterful. Breakfast at Kennedy's had me laughing hysterically as did Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold. As a comedic writer myself, I appreciated this book more than anything I've read thus far. Kudos and Huzzah for Jon Stewart!
Rating: Summary: This book was hilarious Review: I picked up this book at the book store and read just one paragraph before I decided that I had to buy this book. I read the whole thing in one sitdown. I also brought it to school and now half the student body has read it. I would recomend that everyone read this book!
Rating: Summary: Friggin' Hilarious! Review: With the exceptions of DaVinci's Lost Notebook, this was the funniest thing I've ever read in my life!! Some of the best stories were: Adolf Hitler, the Larry King Interview, Lenny Bruce: the Making of a Sitcom, and The Last Supper, or the Dead Waiter. Jon Stewart is one of the funniest comedians alive today, and this book certainly shows his extroidanary, off-the-wall talent. This book is Hilarious!!
Rating: Summary: Good... Review: I adore watching Jon Stewart on the Daily Show, my favorite show. And while this book was clever, it was a little less than I expected from Jon. Some of the stories were great, like the Last Supper, Hanson Christmas, Revenge... and the New Judaism; but I only got a few really good laughs out of this book. Some didn't even come close, like Martha Stewart. Not because I'm offended by the vagina but it just wasn't funny. Overall I'd say the book is more clever than ha ha funny. Still, it's enjoyable, and I'm still a huge Jon Stewart fan.
Rating: Summary: Great book, very funny! Review: I had been watching the daily show for about a month, and I thought it was so hilarious. Jon Stewart is a comic great! I didn't know he had written a book, but one day i was at the store and i saw it. I bought and read and loved it! The essays are great. The Captain Crunch Cult was great, the Hitler and Larry KIng very funny. Jon has proved himself as a great writter and an even better comic!
