Rating: Summary: Great Resource Review: I wasn't even familiar with the original "Charlie's Angels" too much before reading this book -- it's the perfect primer for the upcoming repeats on "TV Land" and it will surely have you wanting the "real" Angels once the movie comes along. This book features an excellent episode guide, interviews, and the story of the show where three little girls went to the police academy. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: AN AWESOME TRIBUTE TO A CLASSIC SHOW!! Review: Hats off to super fan, Jack Condon, and David Hofstede. This book is an amazing tribute to what has become a classic show in American pop culture. Every page is packed with information about the show, including lots of behind-the-scenes stories that probably aren't known to the general public. The book is informative, entertaining, and well-written. You'll also enjoy reading about all 6 angels, not just the first 3. This book will appeal even to the casual fan of the show, and it is an ABSOLUTE MUST for the die-hard fan. It is one of the best tributes to classic television that I have ever seen. WOW!!!
Rating: Summary: Alerting All "Charlie's Angels" Fans! Review: Jack Condon, with David Hofstede, has produced a wonderful homage to a timeless show in "Charlie's Angels Casebook." They enlighten us with intriguing information you wouldn't know unless you were on the set or in the meeting rooms with Aaron himself (or are a lifetime fan and collector, like Jack!). In doing this, they set the stage for all of us to reminisce about a groundbreaking show from a very influential era in television. The episode guide not only is a wealth of information, but also makes connections in personnel and cast often overlooked or forgotten. Readers may have different opinions about what their favorite Angels episode(s) or show nuance is; However, I feel the authors have presented the information in a way that takes us back to how the episodes and show were originally viewed by the public as well as the cast and the production team. This is a functional commemorative piece for tried-&-true Angels fans, as well as the new watcher. I have already begun to make my copy "my own" by adding notes in the margins! Enjoy, Angels . . .
Rating: Summary: Angelic Treasure Review: I thought I knew everything about every episode of "Charlie's Angels." The Charlie's Angels Casebook was a treasure chest of information, photos and great detail. Each episode has a synopsis and commentary with background facts and trivia. The book was everything I wanted in a detailed history of the show, from the actresses current status, to a complete list of Angel merchandise. I hope the new Charlie's Angels movie has the same reverence for the television show that this book has. Thouroughly enjoyable read that I'll pick up everynight when the show starts it's run on TV Land in October. I'll enjoy the shows in a new light with my new wealth of knowledge.

Rating: Summary: Angels in Print Review: If the names Kate, Farrah and Jaclyn mean anything to you--or Shelley, Cheryl and Tanya--you're a Charlie's Angeles regular and must have this book on your shelf for easy reference! Loaded with impossible-to-find-elsewhere info, David Hofstede goes behind the scenes to find the truth behind some of the goings on that, to us, were even more mysterious than any episode of "Charlie's Angels". You'll learn why Kate left, why Shelley didn't work out, the search for Tanya and the struggles Cheryl had fitting into a hit series--and why Jaclyn was queen (personal feeling on my part!). The usual synopsis of all the episodes is given a really nice treatment in this TV book with commentary and background info on virtually all installments of this much loved and much maligned show. If you ever found yourself having to defend your love for the show, you're not alone, but this book shows there were quality episodes produced every season featuring six beautiful and talented ladies. Gush, gush gush, I know I am--but it's great!
Rating: Summary: "Heavenly" Summer Reading Review: Once upon a time... there were three little words that summed up the best reading of the summer of 2000: CHARLIE'S ANGELS CASEBOOK. Condon's book is a MUST for any "Angels" fan. It was a wonderful trip down memory for this groundbreaking show. How "Charlie's Angels" came to be and the adventures that transpired from season to season were often more exciting than any case that Charlie would assign to his lovely Angels. Condon manages to accurately capture the juicy ongoing behind-the-scene drama. I found myself saying, "Oh yeah, I remember reading that back in People back in 1979" or "I wonder why so-and-so didn't like so-and-so." Condon answers all questions clearly and concisely (like a good detective.) And the episode guide at the end of the book is the perfect companion when watching those heavenly reruns. The author's love of this classic 70s show comes across through his words. As a result, you will LOVE the Charlie's Angels Casebook this summer.
Rating: Summary: Angels Rule! Review: When I saw that this book was about to be published, I went directly to the publisher at a book fair and threatened to shoot the place up if they didn't let my buy a copy! I have been wondering for ten years or so now why nobody has really done a what Jack Condon has with "Charlie's Angels Casebook" -- give us a behind-the-scenes tour of the TV show that defined the late-1970s in America, more perhaps than any single institution, trend or fad. I was a kid when CA premiered (nine years old in 1976) and from the first episode, I was hooked, and for five years, I faithfully showed up on Wednesday nights (Saturdays in the last dreadful season) to see what the Angels were up to. Thinking about it now, it has the single commitment in my life that I have followed through with without fail and without pain. Hmm. Anyway, Condon dives into the nitty-gritty of things that the tabloids only hinted at back during the show's original run: Kate's ongoing tantrums about the show's sexism, her squabbles with and resentment against Cheryl, Farrah's decision to leave the show because of pressure from her husband, Lee Majors, Jaclyn's anchoring presence on the set during all the post-Farrah turmoil, Shelley's alleged role in the demise of the series, Tanya's party-girl antics. Like Condon, I think that Shelley got a bum rap on that show and I am glad he spends so much time in the book giving us the details about her hiring and firing. While he never states it, he suggests that Ed Lakso, one of the show's lead writers, sabotaged her because he wanted another actress to replace Kate. Shelley had an extremely tough act to follow when Kate, the leader of the trio, left the show; naturally, the scripts changed to reflect a new character, and possibly Ed Lakso gave her so little to do in the stories that he created and edited that she couldn't help but seem like furniture. Look at those episodes with Shelley -- she rarely had more than ten lines to say in any given episode -- how could she shine when the writers were treating her like nothing more than a warm body to fill up empty space? As devoted to the show as I was, I knew the end was near when Aaron Spelling lost his mind and hired Tanya Roberts. While I she may be terrific actress in other roles (how can you NOT love "Sheena, Queen of the Jungle?"), she lacked the personal sophistication that had helped the other angels to rise above some of the admitted silliness they had to play out. Jaclyn overcame it with quiet, calculating charm and subtle sarcasm; Kate with intelligence and creativity; Farrah with playfulness and physicality; Cheryl with humor and musical talent; Shelley with professionalism and grace. Tanya just sat in the canoe while Jaclyn and Cheryl tried to do the rowing by themselves. Anyway -- if you're an Angels fan, I don't have to tell you to get this book; we are a special breed obsessed by our subject of focus and I am sure you have it already and have dogeared it to death with multiple readings. If you are not an Angels fan, I recommend giving it a look if you are at all curious about what goes into producing a phenominally successful TV show or if you are even slightly nostalgic about the 1970s. This a fast-moving, entertaining read. I tore through it in one long sitting and closed it wishing I had another volume with yet more details.
Rating: Summary: the best there is THE guide to the angels Review: This book is the best written book about a T.V show ever! I don't think there is another book out there that is like this with all the info and facts about a t.v show, this person knows his Angels, I recently had the pleasure of seeing him at a book signing. If you have the chance don't miss this, he will talk with such charisma and knowledge not only about the angels but about anything. This book is a must for any Angels fan or for anyone who likes t.v.
Rating: Summary: Revisit the most beautiful women detectives in television! Review: I can still picture in my mind the memories of Wednesday nights spent in front of my tv, as a little girl, watching the ladies whom I most wished I could be! The Charlies Angels Casebook is mandatory reading for in depth episode guides, personal looks behind the scenes, and a true slice of American 70's pop culture from Farrah's hair to bellbottom jeans! Read the inside scoop from the Angels themselves as they share annecdotes from the series and find out what goes on behind the scenes as the lineup changed throughout the shows' run. A very comprehensive and complete book, I couldn't put it down! Most impressive to me were the many episode guides which, in detail, gave a little biographical info on the many guest stars who were staples of 70's and 80's television programming. In addition, there are Angel bio's, credit lists, a swimsuit guide (!), and an exhaustive list of Charlies Angels merchandise. Author Jack Condon has even taken it a step further by including a picture of his private collection of Angel items which must be seen to be believed! This book is simply one of the best out there of any individual television show. Buy it, you won't be dissapointed!;o)
