Review: Jack Condon's "The Charlie's Angels Casebook" is a great source of information about the famous 1970's Crime/Drama Series. The book has great pieces of trivia about the cast and crew, along with a complete episode guide. Jack and his co-author reveal interesting information about the six "Angels" that most fans never knew. Each profile outlines each of the "Angels" careers and how they felt about doing the series. A great book and an easy read. I give it an A+!

This book captures all the splendor of Charlie's Angels and then some. It is long over due!

Summary: Charlie's Angels Casebook Review
Review: As a fan of Charlie's Angels since I was a kid, I would like to say that the book is a treasure to all fans of the series. I love its behind the scenes details. There were many questions that were answered after reading the book. I now know how each girl was hired. I know why Farrah & Kate quit (ouch). I know why Shelley Hack was fired (double ouch) and why the show subsequently was cancelled. I also appreciate the episode guide the book has to offer. Its better than any episode guide I have seen on the internet. I also like the input the producers like Barney Rosenzweig, Rick Husky & of course Aaron Spelling put into the book. But lastly I am grateful for the authors for finally providing a detailed book on one of my favorite series of all time. You all did an excellent job as far as I'm concerned.

Summary: A Case For Charlie's Angels
Review: This book brought back many warm memories watching the Angels for the first time as a child, and a nostalgia of a different era when television was more free to provide escapism without the ties of having to be so politically correct all the time. I learned many new and interesting facts and trivia as well. I always wondered how the show did after Farrah Fawcett left. She had been such a phenomenon, but her departure had a far less impact, ironically than the departure of "the plainer Angel" Kate Jackson. It was very interesting to learn more exclusive information such as, the kind of material given to Shelley Hack vs. Tanya Roberts, Cheryl Ladd's approach to her role compared to her predecessor, Farrah, how the original Angels and their replacements were cast, what each new Angel was hoped to bring to the show, why they each took the job, how they got along in real life, who else was considered, David Doyle's positive influence on working conditions, the relationship Barney Rosenzweig saw between "Charlie's Angels" and "Cagney and Lacey", the wardrobe designers', like Nolan Miller, favorite and least favorite Angels to work with, life after Charlie, and so on. I especially liked the parts about Jaclyn Smith and why she stayed with the show, specifically what impact she was able to have on the show after sticking with her contract, the direct liberties and influence she was able to obtain, and the impact this role has had on her entire career. The episode guide provided basic plot and story information, commentary of the stronger and weaker points to every episode, as well as the individual actors' likes and dislikes of individual story lines and writing. I didn't know my favorite episode "Avenging Angel" was also strongly appreciated by Jaclyn Smith herself, and she also considered it "more meatier material than usual". The authors were very fair to mention considered weaknesses of the show by various critics as well, such as those very tiresome double entendres mentioned seemingly endless times by Charlie in the earlier episodes. After reading, one could just see the actresses gritting their teeth through those smiles at the end of the show. I also found a genuine kind of gentle affection for the show and its stars, creators, and producers, very similar to Herbie J. Pilato's love for Elizabeth Montgomery in his book "Bewitched Forever" and an appreciation for substance and quality work found in "The Columbo Phile-A Case Book" by Mark Dawidziak. While reading this book, a very fond memory that came to my mind was the first time I saw Farrah outsmart her pursuers by taking that zoom down a hill on her skateboard. I thought that was one of the coolest things I had ever seen and this is one Angel that doesn't need wings to fly. That was exactly the kind of grown up lady I wanted to be and I had a lot of fun in my own attempts to imitate her with my skateboard. This book is obviously the compilation of a lot of detailed, exclusive research, personal interviews, marvelous color photos, and a great fun and fact-filled guide on those infamous female detectives we all like to call "Charlie's Angels".

Summary: A fascinating journey into the lives of Angels.
Review: From the moment I laid eyes on the cover, I was hooked! Finally, someone had taken the time to publish an authoritative, yet utterly enjoyable book on the history of one of the biggest icons of 70's pop culture- Charlie's Angels! The book was addicting. I couldn't put it down until I had finished every page. Of particular interest was the episode guide in the back with interesting facts and tidbits! Thank you forever for a fascinating read!
