Rating: Summary: THE TITLE SAYS IT ALL... An inspirational story. Review: A philosophy he's lived by since he recorded the song of the same name, back in 1973 on his "Alone Together" album, Donny Osmond has certainly made much of his life "so far" within his soon-to-be 42 years. Beyond the life of a multi-hyphenate entertainer - singer, songwriter, musician, actor, producer and now author, Osmond is also a devoted husband, father, brother and son, as well as computer/electronic wizard, creative performer and dare-devil stuntman. But his melodic tenor voice which first started out wooing a generation of young hearts in the early 70s has continued to thrive into a mature audience of appreciating ears on stage with critically acclaimed rave review of his performance in the long-running Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, to the now Platinum Disney soundtrack of "Mulan" - attracting a new generation of Donny Osmond fans. Much has been consistent with Osmond over the years. Through his challenging obstacles within his career, overcoming the bubble-gum pop teen idol icon to International musical superstar of stage and screen.... the consistent echoing from colleagues, industry professionals and friends is that Osmond is a well-respected, warm, generous individual who graciously and charismatically engages all he encounters with a genuine heart-felt sincerity and eloquent class, unmatched by many who have had the illustrious career he has, starting from such a young age. Though he has managed to live, breathe and thrive within the industry without becoming jaded, Osmond has transformed his wisdom and experience into an example in leadership and ambition of embracing life and taking it for all it's worth. He reveals a very reality based and emotionally expressive peek into the spirituality life-preserver which gives him the trust, faith and belief system that continues to keep him centered throughout all he does. Achieving many historical milestones within his multi-faceted life and career, perhaps one of the greatest of all is Osmond's raw vulnerability to be himself, which propels his Universal appeal spanning across several generations, with a longevity of committed following. He is a man of integrity, inner-grit with a solid-soul and a heart of gold - something which permeates through his performances with a mysterious allure of breaking the wholesome glass, encasing a down-to-earth spirit of playful mischief and rebellion to achieve his own individuality without judgement. This book is sure to reveal his own admittance of humanistic flaws - further drawing you in to embracing who he is, what he's done, how he's done it and what he's overcome in a motivating and captivating essay of truth and reality. While I have not yet read this long-awaited book, but have contributed specific dates/locations and archival content upon a global calling to provide supplemental information in the compilation of this book (which I don't know at this time if any of it was utilized), I am writing this review from 25 years of admiration, research, following and working with the Osmond family on a multitude of levels --- most recently as a supplier of clients as guest segments for the Donny & Marie Show this season --- and I have met Donny twice, now. On a personal note, the very title of Donny's book is the key inspiration of why his music has been instrumental in my life's empowerment and survival during a couple decades of challenging times. While he was not privy to this information at the time of our in-person meetings, I know I am a number amongst the many who have been touched by the man he is and the legacy he has already put forth so far. I encourage everyone who is looking for a fascinating story of triumph and victory abounding from a gold fish bowl life defunct from anonymity, while maintaining a foundation of spirituality, sense of self and family - this book is IT. Respectfully, Stacey Kumagai Media Monster Communications, Inc.
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE Review: Donny Osmond is nothing more than extraordinary!! This man has gone through more changes in his personal and professional life that noone could ever imagine, and he has handled those changes with nothing more than exceptional grace! At a time when the music industry would second guess him every move he made, he rose above them (industry watchers) and showed them that with age comes wisdom. He definitely has gained and given alot of wisdom through his 37 years of being in show business. The industry and the general public can definitely learn something from this book
Rating: Summary: Donny is an all out great guy Review: I haven't actually read this yet but I can tell you already it will be worth reading. I have researched Donny's life a lot and it is very interesting. To grow up in show biz is trial enough. But to go through the career changes Donny has and then end up singing again is magnificent. I encourage everyone to read this book.
Rating: Summary: Best Autobiography ever Review: As much as I followed the Osmond Family careers, I read this hoping to find all the rumors to be false. It opened my eyes to how it really was for him in the limelight. Glad to have the MAN back......the little boy grew up.
Rating: Summary: Not an Osmond fan but loved the book Review: ...While I will probably never be a fan of the music I really enjoyed the book. I think there are some important lessons here regarding raising children in the entertainment industry. Lesson #1 - Don't do it! Frankly I am a bit surprised that he did not end up another casualty of child celebrity or head into dark places like his friend Michael Jackson. I was most impressed with Osmond's honesty and candor. His handling of his devastating career collapse as well as his social phobia really make for good reading. Somehow I suspect we haven't seen the end of Donny Osmond. Even if you run screaming whenever "Puppy Soldier of Love" comes on you may still enjoy the book. I certainly did.
Rating: Summary: I read this book in 2 days. I couldn't put it down! Review: I read this book in 2 days which is quite a miracle considering that I hate to read. It was an act of unbeliveable courage for Donny to write this. I really admire him for being more human than most people I know. We very often see celebrities as being super-human, this book makes it clear that they are regular people with different jobs. I always thought that Donny was a great entertainer but I never realized what he had to go through to please so many others. He is a real inspiration!!! This book is also great for young teens because he has lead such a clean lifestyle (but not without his problems). I would also recommend this book to anyone who has ever had a panic attack and felt like they were "loosing it". It makes you realize that you're not alone. Even the "untouchable" celebrities have thier problems and flaws. You have to read this book!!!
Rating: Summary: Donny Osmond - Life is Just What You Make It Review: Being a fan of Donny's for the past 28 years, I purchased this book as soon as it came out and read it in two days. I thought I knew everything about him and was surprised after reading it how much I did not know. I found the book to be very honest, easy to read, and enjoyable. Donny has had to struggle through a lot just because of the name "Donny Osmond". I applaud him for all he had to overcome, the courage and strength he has shown, and the fact that he did not turn to drugs or alcohol as so many child stars have done. He should be proud of the man he has become. There are a lot of ignorant people still out there who still make fun of Donny. They are the ones who need to read this book - and read it with an open mind.
Rating: Summary: Honest Review: I have read it and loved it. We have always known there was more to Donny than meets the eye and this book has given me a real insight to what my wife has always told me. Sorry Donny, you are better than the BAY CITY ROLLERS.
