Rating: Summary: If You Want To 'Get to Know' The Gipper.. Review: This *is* YOUR book. No Holds Barred!I appreciate President Reagan - and his family - even more! (The best gift I got for Christmas!)
Rating: Summary: Proof That Reagan is the Greatest President of the Century Review: This was the most accurate an concise defense of the Gipper I have ever read. It elucidates the great changes that occured throughout the 1980's, allowing unprecedented expansion. The economy has, since 1983 faced continued growth and expansion of wealth with the exception of only one moderate recession. Since then, despite Clintion's massive tax increases there has been little sign of economic distress in the US. Reaganomics worked, and this book proves it. It depicts the fallacies of the left in attempting to palm the budget deficits entirely off on Reagan and declaring the 80's a "decade of greed". Congratulations to Mr. D'Souza in portraying Reagan as a leader worthy of a place in history next to Washington and Lincoln.
Rating: Summary: fantastic Review: I make a habit of reading the biographies of presidents. his one was the most impressive I have read in a long time. Rather than presenting a moment-by-moment recap of the presidency, the flaw of so many biographies, this book encapsulates the traits that made Reagan successful. The most powerful chapter in the book dealt with the end of the cold war and the steps Reagan took to bring that about, often overruling his deputies to implement his vision. It is a treatise on skilful management and negotiation. I can not recommend this book more highly.
Rating: Summary: Dinesh does it again. Outstanding!!! Review: A great look at the greatest president of this century. It reminds you why this is the greatest country in the world.
Rating: Summary: To understand Reagan, read this book! Review: A concise, accurate, and easily understandable book of what Ronald Reagan's presidency was all about. Read this book if you need a little bit of inspiration and hope about the future.
Rating: Summary: Finally - someone sets the record straight ... Review: Gorbachev - TIME'S MAN OF THE DECADE - that always blew me away ... When in history was victory ever credited to the loser? It just goes to show how liberal the media was/is and how much they hated Reagan. D'Souza hits the nail on the head. Granted, Reagan was no rocket scientist but he had a vision for America, he brought in the right people to execute that vision, and ultimately his vision became a reality. How many presidents can claim to have achieved the things they promised to the American people? Several come to mind: Lincoln, FDR, and whether you like it or not - Reagan - a most extraordinary leader. As Nixon (a vocal critic of Reagan's Soviet policy during the 80's said) "history has justified his leadership."
Rating: Summary: made me rethink the reagan presidency Review: though i'm not what might be considered a conservative, this book made me appreciate much of what ronald reagan accomplished . . . it was easy to "knock" the guy, but in retrospect, he did lead us effectively.
Rating: Summary: The record set straight Review: A great read. An insightful, honest, and funny book about one of our greatest presidents. A must!
Rating: Summary: Dinesh's book helps you understand a great American leader Review: Dinesh's book reviews the life of an Amercan. This extraordinary man with his american ideals, faith in his fellow citizen and his own human flaws became the leader of the free world. Dinesh explains from start to finish the rules that Reagan lived by and legislated for. Dinesh also explores Reagan's personal and professional lives, further helping us understand the man. After reading this book I think of Reagan in a new way. At a critical time in history when America desprately needed a leader and then found one in Reagan. The book explains how history will show that the world is a better place for having had his leadership. Americans who read this book will come away like me, missing the man who saw America as the, "Shining city on the Hill".
Rating: Summary: Outstanding book, stunningly insightful Review: This book is a well written, extremely insightful story about a man who changed the world. D'Souza does not tell an ambivalent story; he makes judgments - and the facts prove him right. He clearly shows the failure of intellectuals to win the Cold War, and the fact that it was not a PhD thesis that was needed to deal with the Soviets, but firm values and the willingness to back them up. D'Souza rates Reagan as one of the all time greats, and it is difficult to disagree after reading this book which shows how a relatively simple man changed the word through sheer character - and most pundits and intellectuals still haven't noticed.
