Rating: Summary: To a reader from still from planet earth... Review: "We all lie, it's not like this is some sort of gateway sin which will eventually lead to murderess actions."We all lie? Well maybe, but it seems to be an exceptionally poor time to start lying when your husband is missing. "As far as the only other version being courtney's......this is not what I'm getting at..Courtney's version, grant's version, the writers.....None of this matters. What matters is the truth." Ok, so what is the truth, since you're so postive you know it? "...when there are many reputable examiners that would disagree with this statement?" There are? Who are they, why have they not come foward? And please, show me some reputable examiners that disagree with these statements, who are NOT friends of Courtney's and therefore having a conflict of interest. "What I'm getting at is that the facts need to be examined....the forensics,etc...and the fact is that there is much dispute against the writers claims." Exactly. That's what i've been saying from the beginning. Re-open the case, and study the facts. That will prove whether he was or was not murdered... thank you Captain Obvious! Also forensics are a little hard to work with at this point since Courtney had Kurt's body cremated and had the ashes scatted in two different places (which I'm sure is just another coincidence in you're opinion, even though Kurt never said anything about wanting to be cremated). "What courtney loved blabbered on about on some tapes is completely irrelevant." Irrelevant considering it all has to do with an investigator she hired to investigate, and then her lies purposly mislead him from his goal? Um ok, sure... it's irrelevent. I think you should join the Seattle PD, you'd fit in great there. "Maybe she's a drug addict...maybe she's completely insane....None of this involves her in a conspiracy to kill her husband." Ok, so you're saying that insane drug adicts don't have the capability of murdering someone or conspiring to muder someone?... again join the Seattle PD, you'll be officer of the month in no time. "As far as grant not making money of the book...whatever. I'm sure he makes enough off of the "case manuals" which can be purchased on his website." Actually his case manuals are really cheap (he stated he would make more money working part time at McDonald's) and now he isn't even selling them anymore... the website IS the case manual. "This book was a very disappointing read....I really thought there was going to be some sort of revelation....let's face it though...there wasn't. These so called "damning" tapes are courtney being courtney" It must take a hell of alot to shock you if this book had no effect on you what-so-ever. You all so seem to be very protective of Courtney for some reason... hmmm I wonder. "Oh and you want ignorant how about this: how celebrities in the media can very easily get away with murder and that America's system of criminal justice simply DOES NOT WORK (remember the OJ trial, people!!!)." So I am being ignorant of the fact that he murdered his wife, and got away with it... you'll have to explain this one. "What exactly is the correlation here...." The correlation? Um, gee I don't know the fact that he is celebrity who got away with murder? Unless of course you think he is innocent and that's a conspiracy as well, which at this point it wouldn't suprise me, since you seem to ignore the obvious. "sure it ain't perfect, but it's not like the countries overrun with complete anarchy....." No, it's not, but that still doesn't mean that there isn't enough evidence to re-open the case and take another look at it. I have nothing left to say at this point, you've done an excellent job of painting yourself into a corner... but I'll leave you with this: If Courtney Love is indeed innocent as you so believe, all she has to do is release the autopsy reports and photos from the scene of his death to prove her innocence as Grant has said. She doesn't seem to be interested in doing this though... nor does she seem to be taking any legal action against all these "conspiracy theorists" who in you're opinion are publishing false information. If someone was saying I murdered my spouse and I was innocent, and they were making money off of those lies, I'd be pretty angry and definatly looking to file a lawsuit... but she isn't. I wonder why.
Rating: Summary: Critique of BeenStung's July 3 review Review: "I've had first-hand experience...good at it." Yeah. And this book proves it since she contradicts herself a lot (see my other review here). "I was shocked, however...everyone around her." Meanwhile her lawyers in the past have foiled attempts to show the film Kurt and Courtney and tried to persuade Halperin (or was it Wallace) to stop talking about this case. They also tried to get Grant's license revoked on some bogus charge. It's not just Courtney trying to keep things under wraps; its her own lawyers who she's paying. "She recently said...deserves to be punished." Oh how marvelous of her. She's obviously such a wonderful person now that she's apologizing. She must be innocent of complicity in Kurt's suspicious death. Seriously though, I have a hard time believing what she says about divine justice since she's lied so much already. "this book contains...the United States." I fail to see how this refutes the scientific evidence in the book and other odd circumstantial evidence. This reviewer should pick more important battles. "And Rolling Stone aren't secretly "friends of Courtney " But they are her friends to the extent that they don't cover the Kurt Cobain case; and they barely cover it. And if I'm wrong about this bit of RS magazine, which I doubt, that has no impact on the scientific and circumstantial oddities of this whole case. "In their last...become "a series"?" Embellishment? Yes. But guess what? Courtney is still making self serving calls. That's the bottom line! "And doesn't it...in her room? She was paying for three separate suites at that hotel, not just one." So since she could have made the calls from room B or C instead of A she's innocent all of a sudden and no longer deserves to have her behavior examined? Oh please! Such a weak argument! "Above all...has been disputed." Yeah, and I can dispute that the earth is round. The point is can I REFUTE it? "NBC's "Dateline" interviewed...information was inconclusive." And what were these medical examiners main area of expertise? Was it opiates and toxicity like Denise Marshall or were they like Nikolas Hartshorne in that it wasn't their area of expertise and were just making an uneducated guess? And how ignorant were they of Kurt's severe drop in heroin intake in the last few months of his life since he no longer needed it to cure the stomach pain that had been cured thus making his tolerance level much lower again? "Other experts noted...recoils on firing." This is addressed in chapter 9. The 20-guage gun with the jumpback that it had should not have been across his chest the way it was. And plus, what about the three people who handled the gun before Kurt's "suicide"? What happened to their prints? "And when "Dateline"...of Cobain's writing." How many times do we have to go through this? It's not a suicide note. Isn't it odd that the only lines that indicate suicide are in a different and bigger style and come after Kurt signed his name? It's also odd that the other lines which only talk about exhaustion with the music business don't seem to match other writing found in Kurt's diary? Richard Lee was on a "Conspiracies" and showed how Kurt's signature in his bank files nowhere near match ANY style of writing found in the note. (this clip can be found on justiceforkurt.com) And what about the odd sheet of practice handwriting samples found in Courtney's purse which are closer to the style of writing in the note at the death scene? Why is the reviewer ignoring this though there is a photo of it in the book? "The murder...Kurt Cobain's death." H & W don't deny this was solved. Nor do they deny two men shot him and went to trial for it. In fact, they affirm this in the book. "Two men were...life in prison." What the reviewer omits is that witnesses at trial said terry didn't stop for a stranded motorist but was flagged down by two men as he turned onto the exit. Terry also lived long enough to tell that he heard them say, "He's a cop," which is odd since he was in plain clothes. Terry's personnel records were altered to make it seem like he was on-duty when he was shot. This altering has not been explained, but it does prove that those two men being able to identify a plain clothes Terry as a cop is an odd thing. " In this book, the...doing life in prison? " Well Courtney MAY have been trying to buy those two men's silence. Unfortunately for them, Terry lived long enough to identify them. Another odd thing: why did Courtney say she "felt responsible" for Terry's death and why did she pay his widow a significant amount of money in 1994? These and other questions remain unanswered and need to be addressed. Ignoring them does not make them go away. Well, that's another negative review torn to shreds. I may return should there be another one which evades important issues and advances poor arguments. Feel free to check out my last reviews (one which is short and has a correction to supplement the main one).
Rating: Summary: Shocking, Incredible and I believe it!! Review: ...I bought the book today and have not been able to put it down. Every Cobain fan should put this book on their shelf. No doubt, this is the best Cobain book ever. Rest in peace, Kurt! ...
Rating: Summary: read the book and then decide for yourself Review: a stunning look into the suspicious events surrounding the death of kurt cobain. The authors lay out all the evidence and all it takes is common sense to conclude that the seattle PD rushed to judgement and botched the investigation. But was it murder? the evidence is there. the motive is there. The highly suspicious behavior of courtney love is there. The case needs to be reopened to get to the truth. in response to "the reader"- it's obvious this person did not read the book and is having a typical knee jerk reaction to "conspiracies" Also as far as the dateline special that was a hatchet job. They did not present the medical examiner they claimed said it would still be possible for Cobain to committe suicide with that amount of drugs in his system. They did not state what his speciality was and he was not on camera. Simply saying "we talked to a medical examiner that says it is possible that he could have pulled the trigger" doesn't jive.
Rating: Summary: Ignore the first review by ...........Courtney? Review: All kidding aside the facts are here. I would love to see the case reopen. If Courtney is so innocent why doesn't she make a public statement like Michael Jackson did to clear herself? She is so media hungrey and she is having a bad career lately she may even benifet herself to just that, oh but then I've read interviews of her putting her foot in her mouth. I say she did it and I never changed my mind since then. The photo of the piece of paper with the letters she was coyping from Kurts hand writing is very haunting.
Rating: Summary: Nervously Shocking! Review: As a long time Nirvana fan, I had always heard the 'murder conspiracy' theories and had always taken them with a grain of salt... until I read this book! This book reveals an obnoxious amount of evidence that supports the fact that this case SHOULD BE RE-OPENED AND RE-INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATLY!!! After reading this book, providing all the information is accurate, I am convinced Kurt Cobain did NOT commit suicide, and met at the hands of foul play back in April of 1994. Even if you are not a Nirvana fan, you should read this book for the very fact that it reveals how celebrities in the media can very easily get away with murder and that America's system of criminal justice simply DOES NOT WORK (remember the OJ trial, people!!!). Those who wish to bring Kurt Cobain justice should also visit this website: http://www.cobaincase.com And... just in case Courtney Love is reading these reviews, I have a message: 'Follow the advice on the last page of this book, and keep to your promise. It is the only thing that will end this debate forever.'
Rating: Summary: Best book yet!! Review: As I am reading this book I keep asking myself why Courtney has not been taken into custody & questioned reguarding Kurt's death. The evidence presented from Tom Grant's tapes of Courtney constantly changing her story, among other things, and of Kurt & Courtney's lawyer saying she believed he was murdered leaves me wondering why no one has looked further into the murder theory. After reading Who Killed Kurt Cobain, I believe that Courtney off'd Kurt without a doubt. After reading this book it's incredible that anyone would think Kurt killed himself. Courtney even states on tape that Kurt is worth more dead than alive. Come on people, get your "stuff" together and more actively persue re-opening the case. I am amazed that anyone would believe Courtney didn't have someone kill Kurt after they have read this book. There is way too much evidence and too many unanswered questions to think otherwise. I guess what they say is true, it is possible to get away with murder....
Rating: Summary: Everyone sees what they want to see Review: Conspiracy theories abound because everyone needs to believe something other than what is officially reported. Cobain was a narsasistic, untalented drug addict who lived life evryday as though he wanted to die. Suicide is not that hard to believe. That said, there are some interesting points made here, but overall nothing concrete or overwhelmingly convincing. Could it have been murder? Possible, but not likely. Selling books is the point here, and to do so the authors have to go out on a limb, even if only to raise unanswerable questions with very little fact. Well written, but highly suspect.
Rating: Summary: A Balance To Corporate Media (Courtney financed media) Review: Excellent gathering of objective facts from many named and proven sources. No speculation or fictional attempts to portray Cobain's mental or emotional states. This is investigative journalism by reputable and award winning journalists. This is not made up "quack theories" by fanatical Cobain fans unable to accept his suicide, (as those who question his death have been critisized.) The authors even discredit pretty damning information, (information that seems highly probable to me), if it isn't backed up by objective proof and reliable sources. And there are more than enough reliable sources and objective evidence to bring certain people to trial, and at the very least, reopen this case. Please read the book with an open mind, and if you feel compelled to afterwards, add your voice to the growing number of voices calling for truth to be told. And if you don't care to do so for Kurt, then do so for Francis Bean, who needs to know her father loved her and didn't leave her by choice, and for all the lost kids who have copied Kurt in suicide, and all the ones who will in the future after the Heavier Than Heavon movie gets released. The only person who will benefit from that movie is, once again, Courtney Love. Read it and circulate it, and use freedom of speech and information to counter balance the Courtney edited Hollywood versions, that will try to burn the idea of Kurt's heroin use and suicide into the minds of future generations. Speak now, or forever hold your peace.
Rating: Summary: To A Reader from Planet Earth... Review: First of all, if you had read the book, you'd realize that the authors themselves said a number of times throughout the book that they were skeptical at times, and didn't believe the conspiracy theories when they first set out to write their books. Secondly, if you'd read the book, you would realize that the only other version of the story there is, is Courtney Love's version. Grant has all of their conversations on tape, and has caught her in her own lies many times. The audio files are ON his website (cobaincase.com)...what more proof do you need? And last but not least, to say that the authors are in this only for profit, is very ignorant of you. I quote Grant on this and support him fully: "In spite of what some are saying, I have no financial interest in the Love And Death Book. There are no "behind the scenes" or "under the table deals" here. As with other journalists, I provided material to the authors without charge. This is an independent project by Ian Halperin and Max Wallace. They, alone, obtained the backing of a huge publishing company, Simon And Schuster. They are to be congratulated for a job well done. Everyone has to make a living. Hundreds, if not thousands of writers and others in the media have been paid for the highly innaccurate stories they've published about the death of one of rock's greatest icons, Kurt Cobain. It's a bit hypocritical of these gullible journalists to claim Halperin and Wallace are "capitalizing" on Cobain's death, as the very same accusers are being paid very well to cover the story!" - Tom Grant (from his website cobaincase.com)
