Summary: It was really cool!
Review: I thought "Zlata's Diary" was a really interesting book. In some parts, it was sad. In other parts is was scary. Over all, I thought it was a really good book.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: The book was very eye-opening to the problems in Bosnia.
Review: I thought that the book was very good, but also very sad in times, like when Zlata's friends left or were killed. But since the book was a diary, it also got boring at times, when she would go through a boring day and tell us about it. I liked the book overall, but some parts were very boring.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A wonderful book. Extremely touching.
Review: I thought the book Zlata's Diary was one of the best books I'd ever read. It was extremely touching. It begins with a little girl, age 11, who has to become an adult too early in her life because of a terrible war going on in Bosnia. H er most precious friend during the whole thing was her diary, in which she wrote all her thoughts about life, and war. A young girl's life ruined because of a disgusting war.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A heart felt story.
Review: I thought this book was very:sad, eye opening, and extriemly touching. I liked this book. It's about an 11 year old girl that lives in Sarajevo. At first her life is as a normel 11 year old girls should be. Then a war starts. She loses: friends, relitaves, pets, and her childhood. I sympathize for her.

Summary: Not what I expected!
Review: I'm a senior in high school and have just read Zlata's diary for our historical literature class. Truthfully, I was somewhat let down by the book. It seemed as though with the announcement of her diary's publication, the entries changed from introspective to writing for an audience. Whereas Anne Frank was purely writing for herself, Zlata knew that her diary would be published, making it less impacting on my emotions. Granted, I could never comprehend what she had to go through and I feel for her, her family, and the lost innocence of her childhood. I recommend this book with some reservations.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: not a great book , but a true story
Review: it is not a bad book for a girl of 11 years but I think taht Anne Frank was a better book because she showed her feelings more and she didn't know taht her diary would be published , anywy is good for learn something about what is going on in Sarajevo.

Summary: I really thought Zlata's Diary was boring yet sad.
Review: It is not like this book wasn't a good book, but she kept repeating the same things over and over. At times it was sad because of what was happening to her and her family. It was really unfortunate that she had to go through this.

Summary: Zlata's Diary...A good book
Review: The book Zlata's Diary by Zlata Filipovic herself, takes place in Sarajevo, Bosnia from 1991-1993. During most of this time a war is going on. Zlata, the twelve year-old girl who writes in her diary, is very up-beat and strong. She reminds her parents and herself what hopes the future may bring. She is also very friendly to anyone or anything. Zlata is obedient too. She doesn't go into any of the dangerous rooms or go outside when told not to. As you could probably tell, Zlata's Diary is writen as a diary, or journal entries genre. The way it's writen is intresting because you are reading exactly now the person felt or what they thought about something. So it's almost like reading your brother or sister's diary, only the fact the Zlata is mostly writing about the war. This fact, I thought was o.k., but it would have been better if she wrote more about her view or how she felt through it all. Although, Zlata did show that war is never good and that kids should never go through it. She had to see her parents struggliing and changing so often. She wasn't even allowed to go outside or play with any of her friends or even go to school. She saw loved ones move away or sometimes die. She had to suffer sometimes with little to eat and little supplies. I overall enjoyed this book because, to me, it was very interesting to read about war through a child's eyes who is about my age. It made me realize that you really shouldn't take anything for granted in life. It was also neat to read a published diary of a child. I would recommend Zlata's Diary to a girl of almost any age who likes to read diaries, or who likes to read about war directly from a girl's eyes.
