Summary: Great for old and new knitters!
Review: Debbie Stoller outdid herself on this one! Not only is this book fun to read, it has all the basics you will need to learn to knit and complete all the projects in the book, and it includes ideas on how to branch out and learn more about knitting. The stories Stoller has included are inspiring, sentimental and a great history lesson, it is just like reading the magazine edited by this wonderful author. The 40!! projects are fun, creative and a flash of something new. There is something for everyone - beginning, intermediate and advanced to the most conservative knitters and some for the flamboyant. If you are a new knitter the skills you will pick up and take away with you after reading and practising on the projects will be valuable for everything you make in the future. You definately did a great job Stoller, I give my props to you and cannot wait to see what the future will bring for knitting - here's hoping for more amazing books like this!

Summary: Not just for Grandmas anymore!
Review: I recently purchased this book from Amazon.com without viewing the book first and I was not disappointed! The patterns are designed by a whole crew of young and innovative knitters with a wide variety of styles and items. I also enjoyed that there was some interesting information to read - input from the author on her own history with knitting - many knitting books just provide some instruction and then the patterns, I find that I enjoy the personal information as well. I also enjoyed the witty, sassy humor the author displayed throughout the book - what fun to laugh at a knitting book! I highly recommend it to anyone who knits - beginners or advanced knitters.

Summary: The Best Knitting Book on the market!
Review: I highly recommend this knitting book. Debbie did a beautiful job of including many needed and interesting facts about knitting in a enjoyable and easy to read format. I own over 30 knitting books and this is the one I use the most. You won't go wrong in purchasing this book whether you are a first time knitter or an experienced knitter... There is something in this book for everyone. If you wish to spend your money wisely, purchase this book... You won't be sorry....

Summary: Fun, stylish patterns, great instruction
Review: Debbie did a great job pulling together so many varied, interesting patterns. The level of creativity is impressive, and anyone who thinks knitting is for grannies needs to check out the Wonder Woman bikini. The patterns seem very wearable also. While I didn't need the extensive instructions (the first half of the book is largely instruction), it would be a great book for a beginner. This is the book Lily Chin *wished* she wrote when she did "Urban Knitter,"---this book has better patterns and far better photographs and art direction. For this price, just buy it already!!

Summary: Cute, but annoying
Review: She's amusing. The patterns are very young and very thin. Don't buy this if you wear a size 10 or more. It made me chuckle a time or two, but the femenist mentality comes through way too much. The patterns are do-able for almost any knitter, but definately aimed at the 18-24 crowd. Although I'm still in that crowd, I'd pass on this given the chance again.

Summary: Great patterns and informative writing.
Review: I'm an intermediate knitter and I bought this book for the great patterns but was very impressed by the way it was written. It's easy to understand and offers tons of information. I have several knitting books, but this is the one that I refer to when I have questions. It's an excellent investment and is great for all levels of knitters.

Summary: Knitting for New Generation
Review: this book has literally changed my life. i've been trying to get into knitting for about 4 years now and never really caught on. i bought "i can't believe i'm knitting" as well as "Knitting and Crochet for Dummies"... and i'd have to say you would be a true Dummy for not purchasing this book.

the book explains EVERYTHING in easy phrasing and, hey, it's got a wicked sense of humor too. the patterns are fresh and exciting... and the diagrams are the best of any how-to-knit book i've seen.

knitting is meditative, creative, and useful. it's even helped me cut down on smoking. when i'm watching TV with the needles in hand i don't have the desire to light up.

i hope S n B II comes out someday... deb stoller is a revolutionary genius. this book doesn't disappoint.

Summary: Upbeat text with great tips and instructions
Review: Even though I live in New Orleans, the weather this winter has been really nasty--- enough to send anyone into hibernation. For me, hibernation means keeping busy, especially at night -- so I whipped out the old knitting needles and checked my store of yarn skeins---my only problem was I was so out of touch with the craft of knitting, I forgot what to do. I needed a quick and upbeat way to refresh both my mind and fingers. Enter "Stich N' Bitch" by Debbie Stoller--I noticed this hardy trade paperback on display at a local store and decided that instead of ploughing through my stash of Vogue Knitting with their complicated patterns and instructions, this book may be just what I was looking for in terms of new and fresh ideas with easy to follow stitch details. I was so right. Not only is this book fun to read, it tells you just what you need to know and remember without the bog-down of other more "granny"-friendly knitting guides. If I didn't remember how to add a stitch, I just looked it up in the convenient index; when I needed to join to pieces together -- pages of easy-to-read explanatory text with illustrations helped me to pull it all together in a fun way with professional results. Best of all are the cute patterns -- in particular, the alien scarf and the devil/cat hats. Really cute and fun and easy to make.
Not only did I create lots of great gifts for the coming year -- I actually shaved my yarn supply down to almost nothing -- meaning I can now buy more without feeling guilty!
Bottom line: This is a fun way to get into a great life-time craft. You may still need mom, gran or an aunt to cast-off for you, but I promise you will be soon doing this on your own as your fingers start to fly.

Summary: Simple, clear, and fun!
Review: I'm not a complete newbie to knitting, but when I picked up knitting again this fall, I wanted to do be able to do MORE than what my lame, rusty skills at the time enabled me to do (because a girl only needs so many hats and scarves)

The combination of this book and various online resources have really helped me improve my knitting skills - and to abandon knitting simple hats and scarves, in favor of more complex techniques, such as cabling and intarsia, and finally even having the guts to try (and successfully knit) actual sweaters.

The instructions for the various techniques, and the accompanying illustrations are clear and simple (even if sometimes the attempts at "coolness" in the instructions sound rather forced and therefore ridiculous, instead of "down to earth" and friendly), the patterns are easy to knit to, and produce great-looking stuff!

Summary: Fantastic!
Review: I'm fairly new to knitting, and at Christmas my Mom gave this book to me ... It opened my eyes to a whole new world of knitting things I had never realized. Stitch 'n Bitch is a great book for the beginner knitter, with a ton of fun and easy to knit patterns, and instructions that are easy to understand. If you want to knit and don't know how, this is THE book to get.
