Summary: Adventure and Romance Shoot Sparks from Cover to Cover
Review: Diana Gabaldon writes one of the best Historical Romance Stories I have ever read. Her characters spring from the pages and set the imagination soaring as you follow Claire as she falls through the ring of stones in Scottland of 1945 to find herself suddenly flung back in time to Scottland of the 1743. She meets the Ancestor of her Husband in the Future and Jaimie who will become her husband in this time period. She learns to adapt quickly to the ways of the past and with Jaimie ends up traveling much of Scottland in her quest to help him escape from Captain Carter, her husband of the futures ancestor, a boor from the word go. A rip roaring good tale that will capture you from the start. A really hard book to put down

Summary: This is simply put the BEST book I have ever read!!
Review: My Mother interduced me to "Outlander" she told me it was a really good book. I love time-travel anyways, so I thought I'd give it a try. We had to get the books back from my Aunt and I have to admit when I first saw how many pages there was I said that it would take me forever to read them. To which my Aunt said "Oh don't worry once you start reading they are so good you will have no problem reading them" boy was she right . I have read all of the first three books and have the last one ordered and cannot hardly wait. It is true that these books ruin you because you don't want to read anything else. there is just no way anything else could even come close to these books. I started reading "Outlander" in the evening and I could not put it down I was up till way in the morning. The same was true when I read her other two books. I have to say that Diana Gabaldon is the best!! You will not be able to put any of her books down let alone Outlander I have read it twice and this was right after I finished all three I had to go back and read about Claire and Jamie again and I am sure that I will read them all again

Summary: The quintessential romance book!!
Review: When I first picked up "Outlander", I was just humoring my mother, who insisted that this was THE most engrossing novel she had ever read. When I finished "Outlander", one day and eight hours later, I was addicted to Scottish lore, time travel, and possibly the greatest love couple to come along since Romeo and Juliet. Diana Gabaldon masterfully weaves a tale of the political and domestic intrigues of 1743 Scotland, of love lost and discovered elsewhere, and the triumph of two souls who find each other despite the centuries that separate them. A unique plot and characters so real that you can almost touch them, and wish that you could! Long live Diana Gabaldon and Jamie and Claire

Summary: I was hooked from page one
Review: I work in a bookstore and have the opportunity to read a very diverse group of books. A fellow employee recommended this book to me so I thought I would pick it up at break. Break came and went and I forgot to go back to work. This story of the Scottish trials and the love between two people will literally rip your heart out and keep you on the edge of your seat. I finished this book in two nights and immediatly went and got the next one in the series. Diana Gabaldon is an incredible author and her books are just wonderfu

Summary: ALMOST DIVORCED!
Review: The best book I have ever read! Thank goodness my husband didn't divorce me, because all I did was read. I couldn't put it down. My whole world revolved around this book. Too bad there aren't more Jamie's in this world, fortunately, my husband is my Jamie.

Summary: Even if you hate romances, you'll love this book!
Review: I have spent most of my life avoiding "romance" books, since I consider them to be a complete waste of time. They actually suck intelligence out of your brain as you read them. That being said, I wholeheartedly enjoyed "Outlander" and "Dragonfly in Amber" by Diana Gabaldon, the first two books in what appears to be a five book series. Actually, I don't believe that the books should be classified as "romance," because the characters are too realistic and the historical details are too enjoyable. The science-fiction flourish also distinguishes this series from mere "romances." Jamie and Claire are the kind of people you would like to have as friends, they aren't mere puppets of the author going through formulaic motions. Buy Diana Gabaldon's books. Read them. You will enjoy them

Summary: Beam me up Scotty!
Review: I have read all of Gabaldon's series but OUTLANDER was by far the best. I stumbled upon the book in the library( I am unfortunately one of those people who DO judge a book by it's cover!), brought it home, finished dinner, got the kids to bed and started to read the book at about 8:00 PM. About 5:00 AM, I finally closed the book feeling like I had found a treasure! Claire is a wonderful, smart, down to earth woman who I would love to have as a friend. And Jamie. For the sake of my marriage, I will say no more. These books are a wonderful read! Prepare to be transported

Summary: literature quality writing, best in the outlander series.
Review: Outlander is one of the best books I have read in a long time. As a bookseller myself, I read many different types of books to recommend to my customers and this is always a favorite of mine for women OR men. My husband has read the whole series two times and loves them. It really spices up the home life
