Summary: Outlander was outlandish!!!
Review: If you have not had a chance to read this book yet, do now! Gabaldon's Outlander, as well as the rest in the outlander series, are at the top best books of the decade. Her characters are full of emotion and "character", each one with their own identity. It offers romance for the romance lovers out there, history for the historians, action and war, and passion and sex. A real page turner. So good you don't want it it end

Summary:
Outlander: Out of Time, Out of Sight, Out of this World!
Review:
I must strongly disagree with an earlier reviewer.

This is NOT a woman's book. It is a HUMAN's book.

Anyone with heart, passion, and a head on his shoulders (or her shoulders) will enjoy this book. So much so that their eyes will bleed as they read into the wee hours of the night.

Sadly, she has also written three more books in the series. Why sad, you ask? Because the eye-bleeding just will not stop. You will be compelled to read of the further adventures of the Frasers and simply will get NO SLEEP!

If you think this review was written by someone smitten, yes it was. DG is a terrific author.

Summary: Never has a story capivated me as it did in "Outlander".
Review: I literally could not put this book down. As well as the two books that followed it, "Drangonfly In Amber" and "Voyager". The thought of time travel mixed in with history, adventure, romance, and humor absolutely kept me entertained and waiting to turn to the next page. I highly recommended these books to 2 friends who immediately fell in love with the characters and story. I don't usually buy books but I bought these three. Probably more of a woman's book.

Summary: The only book that I took a vacation day to finish reading!!
Review: I have purchased this book three times, because I never get it back when a friend borrows it! I have learned to give this book as a gift when I want to share Diana Gabaldon. My husband was very curious about this book, because I took a vacation day to finish reading it. He wondered if a man would enjoy this story. Well, he thought it was one of the best books he has read, and he plans to read each sequel. I can't wait for her fourth book, but I may be fighting with my husband to read it first!

Summary: Outstanding Historical Romance and Adventure
Review: This book, in fact the whole series, is a treasure for anyone who enjoys historical fiction. After I read it I passed it on to a friend, who passed it on to another friend... This is the best way to get your history. The author did a wonderful job with the research and the adventure keeps you glued to every page. The weekend I picked it up my family complained that they felt like orphans. I didn't cook, I didn't clean, I didn't do anything I was suposed to do. I stayed curled up in my favorite spot (with the occasional break for a cup of tea) and answered all questions with a "hmmm?" and a far-away look in my eye. Each book is almost a thousand pages but you don't mind. You _HAVE_ to read each book to continue the story where it left off. You become so attached to the characters that you want the story to go on and on...

Summary: Drats!
Review: Never before has one book (or actually one series) managed to so completely spoil so many categories for me. Time Travel - ruined. After all, who else can so perfectly describe the state of a Scottish inn or the smell of a feasting hall. And if the author I'm reading doesn't even try, I am disgusted at their shortsightedness. Romance - ruined. Let's face it, after you have fallen in love with charming, gorgeous, funny, wry, red-headed Jaime, how can anyone else ever hold your interest. Mystery - Pah! What courtroom drama is more compelling than the fate of Jaime & Claire vs. the dastardly Capt. Randall! (Not to mention the nail-biting suspense of book two where you follow Claire's attempts to determine Jaime's fate after . . . well, I don't want to spoil it.) I confess. I am addicted to Jaime & Claire - they are my well-read, well-worn companions on car trips, doctor visits, rainy Saturdays and late night indulgences. Be forewarned - these books are dangerous, but let me assure you, sometimes danger can be oh, so, seductive

Summary: Why is it 'Cross Stitch' in Australia and 'Outlander' in US?
Review: Thoroughly enjoyed this book - and am hunting for the rest of them. But, why was the book published in Australia as 'Cross Stitch'

Summary: DON'T START THIS BOOK RIGHT BEFORE GOING TO BED...
Review: ...I did, and was up all night long!! I couldn't put it down. I have never been a 'read the last page first' kind of reader, but I sure wanted to this time. Diana Gabaldon has done an excellent job. She gathered everything into one book, history, romance, action, adventure, even a little mystery. The twists and turns this writer leads you on will exhaust you and leave you begging for more. And just when you think it can't be topped she adds a second and third book to the series. A definate must have book, you certainly won't regret it!!!

Summary: Keep your copy, you'll want to read it over and over.
Review: Outlander by Diana Gabaldon is one of those instant classics that appeals to almost every segment of the reading public. For the romantics, there is the sweet, and sometimes bitter- sweet relationship between the two main characters Claire and Jamie. For history lovers, there is the rich discovery of 18th century Scotland, England and France (other places are explored in the sequels). For armchair adventurers, Claire and Jamie take you on a wild ride for war, mischief, political intrigue, treason, mystery, piracy, betrayal, capture and escape...you will not be bored! You will find it difficult to believe it is only the figment of one author's imagination. This story comes alive and kidnaps your own imagination and you just might find yourself in the closest library doing research to learn more about the characters you meet in Outlander. The characters will follow you wherever you go even after you have turned that last page. Read in now, and read it again later because I guarantee that you will be right there with me waiting impatiently for the next book.

Summary: Better than Butter!
Review: An outrageously fantastic novel that will redefine the definitions of category. There are many genres stuck to this work, but it has no peers... A world unto itself. Deserves every award that a book can receive
