Rating: Summary: Fiction as a way to learn History. Review: This story is fiction yet all details of the setting and
history of the time are accurate. Reading this book
is a wonderful way to learn about Scotland and the Jacobite revolution. It's sequels, Dragonfly in Amber and Voyager, continue the story of the main characters and the history of
Scotland.
Rating: Summary: The best sci-fi, historic, romantic fiction ever written! Review: This book has something for every reader. Sci-fi fans will
like the time travel. Historic fans will like the fiction
blended with the actual history of 18th century Scotland. And romance fans will love the trial and tribulations of Clair and Jamie. Diana Gabaldon is thorough, imaginative, and funny. The book flows from one scene to another, the reader will forget where they are and become enveloped into
the story. Her descriptions are so vivid and her imagination is so wild, and her words so well written that one forgets
that the book is fiction. Not only is the reader cheering
for Clair and Jamie, but for all of Scotland as well. A must read
for anyone who loves a well written, all around great story!
Rating: Summary: A Fantastic book! Review: This is one of my favorite books. I even got my mother who only reads Science Fiction to admit that this was a wonderful book. Its nice and long, the characters are very real and engaging, and the plot is full of twists and turns. I honestly couldn't put it down, and stayed up all night to read it
Rating: Summary: An absolutely amazing piece of literature! Review: If I had a choice, I'd give this book an 11. In this enthralling page-turner, Diana Gabaldon whisks you back in time to Scotland and gives you the ride of your lifetime. I started this book one summer morning, and read straight through for 9 1/2 hours. This book is impossible to put down, as you are swept up in the exciting and dangerous lives of Jamie and Claire. A young woman stumbles through a portal and finds herself back in old Scotland and married to a man with a price on his head. This book is a spectacular example of what writing should be
Rating: Summary: Enchanting, wonderful way to learn history Review: Years ago, I stumbled across Outlander. Unable to shake my attachments to Jamie and Claire, I voraciously read Dragon in Amber when it was published. Reading the "teaser" for Voyager, I was driven to a frenzy until I could purchase the book. Now I have re-read each book three times. With each reading I pick up little clues and tidbits I had bypassed earlier. I am anxiously waiting for release of Winds of Autumn. I have visited Scotland twice and have been most interested in locales frequented by the Frasers. Fort William is a train station, no longer a prison. Culloden truly is an emotional destination. I found myself listening for pipes and tall Scots wearing plaids. NOw I look forward to the answers to questions like what happened to Brian
Rating: Summary: Outlanders is full of Romance, witch craft, history and more Review: This book has it all; marriage gone sour...time travel.
...boy meets girl...historic events...witch craft...herbal lore...unexpected ending. When you pick this book up you won't want to lay it down untill your done. When you finish
the book you will wish there were more. Outlanders is written in dialoge, which I enjoy reading, it also makes you
stop and think what if?????
Rating: Summary: The all-time best romance! Review: I don't usually read romances, but this is by far the best book I've read in a long time! Exciting, romantic, perfect
historical details--it took my breath away. I've shared the
series with all of my friends and we've each read all of the
books several times already! Lose yourself with Jamie and Claire--and hold your breath until the next book comes! Hurry up Diana--we're all waiting!
Rating: Summary: BUY THE BOOK! If you don't have the time, buy the tapes. Review: I've just started getting into audio books so wanted to
try out one of my favorite books. The audio books are
pretty good for when you're sitting traffic or doing stuff
around the house but they have to leave out so much of the
story. It is nice to be able to hear the correct pronouncation though. The book series is excellent but the audio, after reading the books, is a let down.
Rating: Summary: wow what a read Review: I must be one of the few men that ever read a romance novel, mushy right.not this one it has everything high adventure, time travel, battles, excitement all the way through from first page to last, humor, oh yes and romance. i would recommend this book to anyone
Rating: Summary: 02/04/96 Review: This book is an amazing tale of love. The story draws you in and makes you unable to put this book down. It is a love story
that endures over centuries. All in all, this is a wonderful book if you are looking for a story to lose yourself in. Diana Gabaldon
has an excellent talent for details and makes the story quite believable.
