Summary: THE BEST BOOK THAT I HAVE EVER READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I loved the book, there is only one word to describe it "PERFECT!" It told the truth about the south, and in a way, it was beautiful! I would reccament you to read it to!

Summary: Magnificent!
Review: I first had the priviledge of reading Ms. Angelou's IKWTCBS in the 8th grade and now, sixteen years later have picked it up again. It is a wonderful and poignant book of a young southern black girl's struggle towards womanhood and the events which surrounded her blossoming into one of this country's finest authors.

I think that the first time I read it, IKWTCBS was a bit too "adult" for me in some parts (surprising since it was assigned school reading) but now I am better able to understand the difficult and heart-wrenching circumstances in which "Ritie" found herself and how she dealt with the loneliness she felt from not having her parents around and the ways in which she sought to make up for this difficiency.

Perhaps today's children are more sophisticated than my generation. In any event, this moving autobiography should be read and taken to heart for it shows how one can overcome what may seem to be unsurmountable obstacles and thrive and contribute to the world.

Summary: It's a heart touching true story!!
Review: This book inspired me. It's shows no matter how bad life can be it can always get better (or worse) I'd have to recommend this book to everyone!

Summary: EASILY THE WORST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ
Review: Everyone seems to think that Maya Angelou is a great author. In my opinion, there has never been a worse book written. Even the style of writing put me to sleep. If I were reading a good story, written in her style, I wouldn't enjoy it. Usually I only use these reviews to say how good many books are, but I felt that this one was bad enough to warrant warning the world about what an awful piece of literature it is.

Summary: Extraordinary
Review: This book is...What can I say? Extraordinary in the naked honesty she uses. When I read it, I lost myself in the story, I knew exactly what she was talking about. And due to that book, I know why the caged bird sings now. It is a marvelous book that I highly recommend to everyone. It shows you a survivor, a real survivor who despite her difficult background, could still rise up to become respected and reknowned in the literary world.

Summary: Something for everyone!!!!
Review: I was given the idea to read this book for part of my coursework at college.I really enjoyed the way Maya and Baliey had a great relationship and didn't have to talk to each other to communicate with each other. Maya grew up quick when she moved to live with her mother in a rape situation with her mothers boyfreind. She also had the incident with her father in which she had to drive the car home after her father had had a drinking binge. The book was really enjoyable and shows how female characters can just be as strong as any males!!!!

Summary: i love this book
Review: I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings was assigned to me for a summer reading assignment. I was forced to read it, but i can't beleive now that i would actually think it would be bad. It taught me so much about life in general, I love this book and it is for anyone and everyone who wants something to read, that is fun. I have read it three more times since June, and it's only August.

Summary: Maya deserves a Nobel Prize for Literature
Review: This was not the first book by Maya Angelou that I read and it is not my favourite but it is extraordinary! I have to confess that I have only become aware of Maya Angelou through Oprah Winfrey's talk show/book club. I had remembered seeing Maya interviewed on Oprah several years ago and am embarrassed (now) to say that I didn't watch the interview because I found she talked so slow. I cannot believe my own ignorance!!! When I read The Heart of a Woman because it was part of Oprah's book club I could not put it down and was immediately uplifted and mesmerized not only by Maya's 'life story' but also her writing style. I immediately went out to buy all of the other 4 books that comprise her memoir. Because I started with The Heart of a Woman I proceeded to Gather Together in My Name (my favorite). I Know why the Caged Bird Sings was the third book that I read and I can see why when it was published it created such a stir. Wow. I recommend this book to anyone and I hope that you will be as uplifted as I was by this incredible woman.

Summary: Eloquent Piece of Work!
Review: I am in my 2nd year of college and I read this book my 1st year for a research paper. For the next month and a half, Angelou was my life. I spent much of my time in the library reading this book and depicting myself in Stamps. I sniffled silently as the tears rolled down my face when she was raped. Maya Angelou is also a comical writer, saying subtle phrases that make you chuckle. All in all, this is a riveting tale of her struggles in society and her private life.

Summary: Wow. I love this woman.
Review: Maya Angelou is one of the best authors I have ever read. I read this book when I was ten, and again this year at age 17. Her life story is more fascinating than most fictional books I've read, and it just gets more complex in her next book, "Gather Together in My Name" (which I'd also highly recommend). Her poetic use of language, interesting storytelling, and scattered insights into life are all amazing. I love this book, and as an avid reader, I would say that this is truly one of the best books I've ever read.
