Summary: moved me in ways words can't describe
Review: I finally finished Salad Days. It's the most inspiring book I've read. I can completely relate to Frank. And Norm's outlook on life is amazing, it's all very emotional. The book ends with an inspirational message that really hit home with me. I'm going to order Rash now. This book has seriously changed my outlook on some things.

Summary: Very Good
Review: I was genuinely surprised and pleased with Salad Days. It's a very down to earth and realistic book that made me laugh out loud and even feel the character's pain. I would recommend this book to anyone involved in underground culture that is interested in what seems like real people in a real situation. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to get into Rash.

Summary: most inspiring book I've ever read
Review: This will probably stand as being the most inspiring book I've ever read. Initially set around the exploits of a group of punks, the story sets itself against the developing hardcore scene in the early-mid '80s. Frank is the main man, and his developed views on hardcore set the intelligent tone perfectly, from the early gigs at The Outhouse and garage rehearsals to the epic tour. Plenty of colorful characters adorn the pages and some remind me so much of people I know it's almost embarrassing. Romalotti seems to take a great amount of pleasure in skillfully taking the wind out of some of his own characters. On the other hand though, the close relationships between Frank and his friends George and Stanley are a joy to behold, and convey an open sense of love. The most overwhelming aspect though, is the portrayal of a scene with such a strong level of participation from its followers.

Summary: Everyone Should Read This One
Review: I picked up this book by means of recomendation of my older brother. I was amazed with the depth and intelligence of this story of a teen punk and his hardships of being an outcast and his experiences as a member of different bands. Romalotti's use of indepth psychological descriptions makes this book not only a cool story about punk rock, but a more fulfiling read which both challenges and rewards the reader. Romalotti perfectly dates the life of Frank Short with what bands Frank listens to, meets and gets to open for or visa versa throughout his life. Anyone who loves punk MUST read this book and anyone who doesn't or doesn't know anything about it should read it because they would still enjoy it and learn a lot.

Summary: Very Inspiring!
Review: I just finished reading Salad Days. I think this is one of the most powerful things I've ever read. As a fourteen year old kid in a hardcore band, I thought this book was amazing. Throughout reading the book I had to keep telling myself it wasn't real. Seeing different scenes like the skinhead and straight-edge scene was great. This book is just a very inspiring read for a person in the punk scene and out. I'm going to buy Rash as soon as I can.

Summary: Best Book of 1999/2000
Review: Charles mailed me this book a few months before its release and I read it, and this is a great book. I look forward to his other book, Rash coming in the mail anyday now. He has a way with words, and the factual part of this fiction novel makes any punk rocker remember their past. I recommend this book to all punks!

Summary: Oi!
Review: I just had the pleasure of reading Salad Days and I must say it rocked! I've lived the punk lifestyle since 1980. Over the years a lot of books were written about it, but not one has come as close to capturing the true essence of it as this book. The similarities between this story and my very own experiences was uncanny. I couldn't help but see myself in the character Specky (I'm a punk of the skinhead variety, y'see). The way the skinheads are portrayed in this book gave me a big sense of pride (we've always been portrayed as racist boneheads), and anyone reading this book will learn the real deal. Thank you!

Summary: The book was a BLAST!
Review: A friend of mine had told me about a book that he had just read and I believe it was this one. He said it was a great book. When I got it, I didn't put it down except for when I was doing work. It touched on the ups and downs and everything in between the hardcore/punk scene. I loved it. My boyfriend laughed at me because he had never really seen me read at all. When I finished it he marked it on the calendar, which I thought was very funny. The book was amazing. I can't wait for the next book to come out.
