Rating: Summary: funny female philosophy Review: This 12-Step Program is from another time of frivolous innocence where "Go-get'em!" was the rallying whoop & where women wore their egos like tiaras - lighting the way with humor & a prod(or nod) to reality. Cathryn Michon, the mistressmind of the whole Grrl Genius phenomenon & an award-winning stand-up comic herself takes us through her dozen steps, showing how to become a true Grrl Genius. Spelling notwithstanding! The Girl Genius Club played to sold-out audiences in Hollywood & featured some of today's top comediennes including Janeane Garofalo, Ellen Degeneres, Margaret Cho & Kathy Griffin. The Grrl Genius Guide to Life is a fluent feast of fast, funny, female philosophies which left me rather relaxed, once I came back up for air!
Rating: Summary: Really great! Review: This book is full of heart, wisdom, and laughter. The perfect read for the summer. Hilarious romp through the crazy life of stand up comic Cathryn Michon.

Rating: Summary: She's a grrl genius Review: This book is hysterically funny. I read it on a plane and laughed out loud often enough to annoy everyone around me! The book is also very brave -- author Michon tells some very personal stories with honesty and without apology. After reading THE GRRL GENIUS GUIDE TO LIFE, I found myself clicking my heels and saying "I'm a Grrl Genius," -- and telling all of my grrl genius friends to read the book, too!
Rating: Summary: Not bad Review: This book is really funny in parts. The twelve step approach was a neat spin on the whole idea of women's empowerment; there was a nice satiric bite to the concept. Overall, the book does have some serious moments, in with the humor. The insights just aren't deep enough to really stick with the reader. The book is very easily disposable. She doesn't really have alot to say that hasn't been said before, and parts of the book drag, or are a bit more crude than I like. But the Krispy Kreme stuff is hilarious (I'm now desperate to try them!) and there were other parts where I definitely laughed, which I can't say about every humor book I've read. There are moments in this book where Michon's own Grrrl Genius shines through, but she can't seem to sustain it. Worth it if you see it in a used book store or a garage sale, but don't go out of your way to track it down.
Rating: Summary: Grrl genius Review: This book was excellent. It's content was about important issues for women yet it was not boring or depressing like many others with similiar content. It was hilarious and I found myself laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes.
Rating: Summary: Great Gift For All Your Co-Grrl Genius Friends! Review: This book will make you laugh and cry and wake up in the morning knowing that you can be a genius. Cathryn's charming honesty and humor will make you feel like baking cookies and having all your friends over to paint each other's toes and plan on how to take over the universe. Read it!!!
Rating: Summary: Six stars! Eight stars! Review: This is the funniest book ever, I just adore it. Not only does it make me laugh, which as we all know is good for you, I really started to believe in the power of Grrl Genius. Now, when I see a woman I hate or I'm really jealous of, I say to myself, hey, she's just a Grrl Genius like me, trying to fulfill her Genius to its greatest potential. And then, I make peace with her vicious and witchy overtures to the guy I'm crushing on, and move on. It's bizarre! But it's working, and I love it. Watch her show, too! It's on AMC, it's called Grrl Genius at the movies, and she shows and analyzes great retro films where the main character is a GG, like Marnie and Desperately Seeking Susan. Buy the book, live the life. I am a Grrl Genius, I am a Grrl Genius, I am a Grrl Genius...
Rating: Summary: More than just fun and games Review: When I first got my hands on this book I expected a sassy, "chicks rule!" comic romp - and got it, for the most part. What I hadn't anticipated was the touching honesty with which Cathryn describes the obstacles she had to overcome on the road to Grrl Geniushood, including a difficult divorce, bad temporary jobs, and being asked to interview for a job with her top off. Makes the reader feel that, if Cathryn can overcome and declare herself a Grrl Genius, well, I can too. Read this book - you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll find yourself wanting to sign up for a live salad-making competition.
