Summary: a hopeful slice of black humor
Review: The funniest thing I've read in monthes, but if you think you live outside the asylum, and are not part of one mass craziness, it might not be for you.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Boring and annoying
Review: The only reason this got two stars is because it made me laugh two or three times. Other than that it does not have anything of value in it. I actually read book three in the GroVont trilogy first - and actually liked it a bit. Unfortunatly, this book did not even begin to compare to the third. I am debating whether or not to even give the second book a glance at all because of this story... the angst in Social Blunders (GroVont 3, for those of you who don't know) was funny, the angst in this one is frustrating to read - not because you empathize with Sam but because he is extremely annoying and very, very dumb, even for a thirteen year old. I'm not resorting to petty name-calling here - read the book for yourself and find out. I don't know what the people who gave this story fives stars were reading, but it sure wasn't Skipped Parts.

Summary: GREAT (If you're not offened by graphic teen sex)
Review: The worst thing about this book was that I didn't own its sequel, so I could start reading it immediately after finishing SKIPPED PARTS. This book's main character, Sam Callahan, is a sexually active Holden Caufield. It satirizes hick life, but no more than it mocks the people who deem them hicks. Tim Sandlin captures the curious voice of a thirteen-year-old, frightfully perfectly. I would recommend this book in a heartbeat. But don't buy only one of the trilogy's books, buy all three of you'll be aching for more without any thing to appease your craving

Summary: It takes small town madness to an entirely new level
Review: There is something for everyone to identify with in this story. It took me into GroVont and would not let me out. There is a little bit of Lydia, Sam and Maurey in all of us. I would recommend this book to teenagers in their late teens. It makes you think about your own twisted youth. And you fall in love with their naiveness.

Summary: Truly deserving of 5 stars!
Review: This book is a must read for everyone that loves to escape into a new world. I found myself craving to read it when I wasn't, and reading it sparingly so that I would never have to finish it.

Summary: Dangerously funny
Review: This book is shocking, revolting, and tragic, a roller coaster of unlikely events put together in even more unlikely sequence. It also had me falling out of bed with laughter. Try as I might to put it down, I must keep going back to it over and over again. Once you get past the shocking revolting tragic parts, the characters are wonderfully human, and you find yourself rooting for them in spite of how revolting they are. Yay for Skipped Parts!

Summary: Changed My life!
Review: This book single-handedly restored my faith in the American Novel. A sharp, quick-witted look at adolescent sexuality, "Skipped Parts" explores taboo territory with an unflinching smart-assed sense of humor. Tim Sandlin's works belong on every serious reader's bookshelf. Start with "Skipped Parts" and work your way through the entire trilogy.

Summary: The next American novel....
Review: This book was an amazing book. I read Social Blunders, the third book in the series, before this book, the first. I had no idea about the other two books when I got Social Blunders... So I read it out of order. Although I read the series out of order, I actually liked it better this way. But on to the review...

I think that Tim Sandlin has created a new American novel. Although it is very satirical, it captures the feelings of broken homes, casual teenage sex, and sexual relationships very realistically. I belive that, fortunately or unfortunately, these "problems" are parts, large or small, of every life in America. The way Tim Sandlin wove all of these ideas together was woderful. I thought that it was especially moving when he talked about the relationship between Sam and Maurey. He captured the naivetè and innocence of youth and juxtaposed it beautifully with the harshness of the tensions that sex and pregnancy bring into a relationship. A beautiful and moving work. I reccomend it fully to anyone. Please fell free to comment on my review or comment in general at my e-mail address that is listed. Thanks...

Summary: Terrific
Review: This boook was the book I was looking for. A book to devour cover to cover. A story where I didn't have to read sentences over and over. It all went together so smoothly, and blended every element of the human heart. Tim Sandlin is a huge inspiration to me, considering he has held odd jobs to support his writing for years, and went 25 years in between publishings. I can only hope to achieve half the gratness of this book, and the others in the Wyoming trilogy. I hold Sam, Maurey, and Lydia very dear to my heart.
