My Sister's Keeper : A Novel

Review: I'm not here to provide spoilers (when will this be outlawed?) or plot summaries. Be warned: Once you pick up this book, don't plan on putting it down until you're finished! I devoted my lunch breaks to this book, stayed up till 1:00 a.m. on work nights, and even read while having a headache (something which I've never done). If this doesn't clue you in to the greatness of this novel, I don't know what will.

MY SISTER'S KEEPER is narrated by the many people affected by one girl's (Kate's) battle with cancer -- her sister, brother, parents, Guardian Ad Litem, and attorney. At first, I was a bit aggravated that Anna (the younger sister whose bone marrow repeatedly saves Kate's life) did not narrate more of the chapters. However, having so many narrators enables the reader to understand the whole picture. This is the only way you'll end up relating to the characters whose choices might enrage you at first. People directly or indirectly involved in the medical and psychology fields should definitely read this, as well as anyone craving an intense, well-written, controversial novel. This was my first Jodi Picoult book, and I'm sure I'll be buying another one in the next week. This book has everything that would draw you into a Lifetime movie, MINUS the corniness and low-budget feel. SIMPLY FABULOUS!
