Summary: Funny from the first word
Review: I bought this book on a whim, and then I read it over and over and over. As a new "grown-up" (a few years out of college and swimming in credit card debt), I found this book to be a hilarious release. While I think it may encourage cc spending, I still laugh all the way to the creditors.

Summary: The Check is in the Mail
Review: Kinsella's novel, Confessions of a Shopaholic, is the hilarious read of Becky Bloomwood who will make any excuse to buy anything and put off paying her ever increasing debt.

Becky realizes her problem and comes up with "clever" ways she can help herself quit the buying habit and get herself out of debt; however, her plans usually backfire and only get her more in debt and her wardrobe closet more full.

While Becky's credit history is taking a nose dive you will be doubled over laughing at her never ending schemes and excuses. From her letters to the credit card companies, letters to the bank, to her bag lunch scheme, to her retail shop job (for the discounts of course) get ready for some laughs.

Summary: A Wonderfully Fun Fairytale.
Review: This book is hilarious! I couldn't put it down, but when I finally did (only because I was forced to by coming to the last page), I immediately started on the sequel 'Shopaholic Takes Manhatten' (and am eagerly awaiting the next installment, 'Shopaholic Ties the Knot')! Becky Bloomwood spends her way through somewhat implausible, but highly entertaining situations, with her unique Shopaholic attitude, providing page after page of belly laughs. Sure, her attitude toward bills and money in general is a little scary, but its extremeness is also part of its charm, and provides the impetus for Becky's adventures.

Whether you are a Shopaholic yourself or not, this is a wonderfully fun read, and a way for all of us to see that maybe our own debt situations aren't as bad as they could be!

Summary: Not bad
Review: I liked Confessions of a Shopaholic, not because I found it exceptionally funny, but it told the story of a girl we can all relate to on some level. The writing was never jejune and suspenseful enough to keep you interested. The author created her as someone we could all feel sympathetic for, thus we all root for her in the end.

This novel stars Rebecca (Becky, Bex) as its protagonist and the deemed "shopaholic." I enjoyed reading about her job as a financial journalist, however at some parts I found myself questioning it. It's a little hard to believe that a girl so easily persuaded and irresponsible ever managed to pull through college and get hired.

At some points I also found myself feeling sorry for poor Mark Smeathe of Endwich Bank, who had to endure Becky's endless games. However, had she faced up to the predicament she got herself into, this would have been one short book. Another questions raised in the back of my mind was the motivation for her excessive spending, and I think Sophie Kinsella could have gone with that a little bit. However, all things considered I thoroughly enjoyed this book, although I wouldn't recommend it to any man, ever.

Summary: This is soooo me!!!
Review: [...]I love this bk, it's the perfect mixture of comedy and drama! I couldn't put it down the night I bought it (LITERALLY) I read all 315 pgs in under 24 hrs & I'm the kind of girl who hardly reads magazine articles! I went to the spa & the woman there told me to put the bk down & relax! Ha! Not on my clock honey! I'm in the works of reading it for the 2nd time & my heart beats just as fast as it did when I read it for the 1st time! I relate so well to the main character, & when you think about it luggage is just as fun to buy as clothes or make-up or perfume or... ...well everything!!! If your a true shopaholic you'll buy this bk in the truck-load. Happy shopping!

Summary: I didn't want to believe the hype... but it was great!
Review: This book was fantastic--I read it in less than two days. The heroine is believable, even if some of her misadventures were somewhat far-fetched. One thing I did appreciate was how Becky was eventually responsible for her own actions and overspending.

This was definitely a lighthearted, fun book.

Summary: An unexpected treat.
Review: Normally I prefer more serious and profound works of literature but a friend had this book and sugested I read it. I politely accepted it with the thought that it would just end up collecting dust on my book shelf. However I found I myself one Sunday morning with nothing to read and decided I would just read a few pages. I didn't stop until I was finished. It was a joy to read, fun, and crazy, yet you understand completely what Becky Bloomwood is feeling. Bravo Sophie Kinsella!

Summary: An Absolute Joy
Review: I had been given this book as a gift. I didn't think I would enjoy the book so I put it on my bookshelf, where it collected dust for about a year. Out of sheer boredom one day, I picked up the book and started reading it. Well! I instantly fell in love! I read Confessions of a Shopaholic in one day and ran to the bookstore the next day to buy Shopaholic Takes Manhattan. I loved Sophie Kinsella's informal writing style - I actually felt as though I was inside the head of the main character and could feel every emotion she was feeling - what a hystericaly funny ride! Confessions of a Shopaholic was definately one of the most entertaining books I have read in a long time.
