Summary: I LOVED It
Review: Hey, I don't know why all of you are bashing this book. I'm about 10 pages from the end and I loved every page.

Philosophy was my favorite subject in high school. I found this book to be a very entertaining and clever way to present the materials. Remember, folks, the book was written to get teenagers interested in Philosophy.

It certainly beats the "heck" out of the Will Durant text that we had to read.

Summary: Boring
Review: the storyline on Sophie and Hilde was intriguing but the 10-page long discourses put me to sleep. the ending was stupid , also.

Summary: One of the most deadly dull books ever
Review: I loved The Solitaire Mystery, But I found Sophie's World extremely boring. EXTREMELY boring. However, I might decide to give it another go after reading all the good comments here.

Summary: The connecting story was absurd
Review: The only way I can fault this work is through the connecting story. It's so weak that I can't understand why the author bothered. Nancy Drew meets Plato is the only way I describe it. Still, it is a good way to introduce philosophy to the initiated (including me). I just wish I didn't have to deal with that interfering narrator!

Summary: An outstanding mysterial novel.
Review: I am out of words to describe this boo

Summary: Still haven't manage to finish it.....
Review: I started off excited and intrigued by the unfolding mystery and then got completely bogged down in all the lengthy philosophical bits. Subsequently got half way through and started reading something else. That was a year ago. However, having read all the rave reviews on Amazon I will go home tonight and pick it up again......

Summary: Great introduction to philosophy but falls apart at the end.
Review: I loved the first half of this book. It was a great introduction to the great philosophers of history. I even found the fictitious story of Sophie, Alberto and Hilde enchanting. But two-thirds of the way through, the story lost momentum and became silly. Worth reading for the philosophy, but not as a novel.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the top ten books I've ever read!
Review: ...and I read it about about 3 years ago, but finally gettingaround to post my 5 stars...stick with it and you'll be amazed as youget into the book.

Summary: This book is the most boring book ever written
Review: Sophies World is written by a demented idiot who is obviously psycho. What kind of sane person would write a book about how a young girl suddenly finds herself living in a book. Oh sure, Sophie and Hilde and Alberto and Knag sure sound healthy and sane to me! NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only a crazed lunatic could write a book like this and anyone who reads it and likes it (this is for you Mr Coombe, stuff you!) is a crazed luntic as well!!!

PS I would give this book, since im feeling generous -158031540 but 1 was the lowest they had!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent book! Great way to present material to students.
Review: As a teacher, I'm interested in sharing this with my class. Does anyone know of an UNabridged audiotape available?
