Rating: Summary: Hmm.. Review: This book is alright. It has a close connection to teenaged girls and what goes on with them. This reminds me a lot of the book 'That Summer' by Sarah Dessen.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: This is one of the best teen novels I've ever read. Most teen novels have plot but are poorly written, while this one has both, plot and an amazing writing style by Megan McCafferty. This novel is absolutely hilarious, and everytime I read it, I always laugh, or realize something new about the main character; Jessica Darling. This novel is real, even though it's fiction, it doesn't butter up the reality of what happens in high school, what teens do, and the mistakes that they make. This book is absolutely amazing, and funny, and I would recommend it to anyone, who likes good novels, After reading this I would recommend the sequel Second Helpings, which is just as funny, and great.
Rating: Summary: I can relate so much it's kinda scary... Review: I picked up this book from my local library about a month ago (eek.....can't wait to see those late fees) and it sat on my desk for that long until about two nights ago. I was extremely bored with nothing on TV and sick of listening to music so I picked the book up and read the first page, thinking it would be dumb. Then I read the second page, then the third, then by the time I went to bed I had finished the whole entire novel. Jessica Darling is the kind of character everybody wants to read about; sassy, sarcastic, witty, confused, and anyone can relate to her problems. She reminded me so much of myself I felt as if Megan McCafferty had ripped pages out of my diary and transformed them into her own book. I love Bridget, the friend in the end, Pepe the insecure but totally lovable boy who hit puberty and WHAM!, Marcus, a guy I could see myself falling head over heels for, and even though I totally hated her I couldn't help but find Manda completely funny in her "extreme virgin" ways. So, to end this rather lengthy paragraph I am telling anyone out there looking to read a charming, funny, and relatable (word?) book to go to your local bookstore (no late fees) and pick up Sloppy Firsts. You won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: loved it! Review: i loved this book! it was excellent. the only thing that bothered me was why she didn't get with Marcus at the end.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful in Anger Review: "Sloppy Firsts" is a great book that I think every teenager should read. It is beautiful and angry, in fact it is beautiful in its anger. I felt the exact same things that the characters felt. The ONLY other book to ever do that was Rikki Lee Travolta's "My Fractured Life" which is probably the BEST book ever on how it feels to be young and struggling with the things we have to deal with as today's generation.
Rating: Summary: Jessica Kicks Butt! Review: I totally loved this book! Full of laughs, tears and surprises, Jessica is a character you'll never forget. Megan McCafferty is an author to look for!
Rating: Summary: uh... AMAZING Review: This is an extremely good book! Once I picked it up there was no putting it down! The dramas of a high school girl that everyone can relate to. It's humor and sincerity are amazing! I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book!
Rating: Summary: Decent, but not a hall-of-famer Review: This book misses the mark in terms of realism. This debut (I think) is a noble endeavor on McCafferty's part; unfortunately, she doesn't know enough about teenage girls to produce compelling, multi-dimensional characters. Jessica Darling fails in her role as a YA-novel heroine. Quite simply, she has too much going for her: a 99.9 GPA, obnoxiously impressive (and overmentioned) athletic talent, the interest of an alluringly infamous older boy and a soul, too. If you liked Mia Thermopolis you'll likely grow to loathe Jess Darling. The ancillary characters are also poorly crafted. Even the shamelessly unrealistic Gossip Girl series manages to be more realistic than this. However, the lucitey characters aside, this book has many good points. The plot is amusing and the writing tight. Probably not worth $10, however.
Rating: Summary: A Must-read Review: Sloppy Firsts is one of the best books I have ever read. The book is in a diary format and when I read it, I felt like it could have been from my own diary. I recommend this book to people of all ages.
Rating: Summary: awsome Review: There is no other way to express this compelling novel other than that it was absolutly awsome. At first, it is hard to get a feel for all the characters but after the first 20 pages you are instantly taken into the life of this teen who is way cooler than she realizes. Jessica Darling is stuck in the last semester of sophmore year in high school with out her best friend. You soon learn why hope has moved. I can't say much with out giving the whole story away, but you have got to read it.
