Summary: ÔDo the things that scare you the most.Õ
Review: This book is all about not being a product. The characters are struggling to break out of the confines that are their lives. Brandy says anything they do is safe, because itÕs something they can imagine doing. But still, she does Òthe opposite of following [her] bliss.Ó She makes every possible effort to f--- up her life. I think I love her.

Summary: Excellent
Review: First I saw the movie Fight Club. Loved it. The I read the novel. Loved it even more. Just had to buy the rest of his books, definitely one of the smartest moves I've ever done.

Invisible Monsters is the third novel by Chuck Palahniuk and, I'm sorry to say, his weakest. Or so I thought till I came closer and closer to the end. It takes these mindbending twists and turns which leave you begging for more.

Palahniuk writes with this indescribable, stream of consciousness-like flow which is just a joy to experience. I started reading it out loud to myself and I was filled with awe and jealousy. Why can't I write like this?! I've actually typed down a few of the many wonderful quotes onto the back of one of my business cards, to keep in my wallet when I need a good laugh.

This novel is a hilarious, excrutiatingly tragic, sick and twisted soap opera rollercoaster ride!

Summary: Palahniuk the prophet
Review: If there was a class on the philosophy of Chuck Palahniuk, I would camp outside my advisor's office to get in. All of his books (except choke - the latest) have the ability to drag you through the drudge and muck of human existence and emerge enlightened and better off. Invisible monsters is by far the best of his four novels, mostly because the ideas and philosophies are more tightly organized. Fight Club and Survivor were both fantastic novels, but it was more the thrill of hearing an innovative literary voice than anything else. With Invisible Monsters, Palahniuk uses that voice not just to shake your mind to pieces, but also to reshape it, and change the way you see the world. If you'll only read one Chuck Palahniuk book in your lifetime, make sure it's this one.

Summary: The best of Palahniuk
Review: If there was a course on the philosophy of Chuck Palahniuk at my college I would camp outside the advisor's office to sign up. He is, without a doubt, a major literary voice of the late twenty and early twentieth century, and is one of the few authors willing to take chances and SAY SOMETHING MEANINGFUL in a world where so many others are just following the formula and banking on it.

Invisible Monsters is his most solid writing ever. While Survivor and Fight Club were incredible novels, they failed to lift you out of the murky skewed thought patterns of their writer and solidify completely. The ideas and philosophies behind Invisible Monsters, however, are tighter and more organized, while at the same time losing none of the dramatic effect. Invisible Monsters is a great read - Palahniuk should keep up the good work.

Summary: The best, so far, from Chuck!
Review: I was busy, reading something else when I bought this. But it was from Chuck Pal(something), so. I had faith. Even better, slightly, than 'Skinny Legs and All', sorry Tom. I laughed, I cried, I fudged my undies. Read it!

Summary: Who really is Brandy Alexander?
Review: The book was exciting that it left me most of the time at the edge. It started in a situation like how Fight Club started but it was still an outstanding introduction for the story. The concept of the characters having different identities was excellent. How the main character reminisced about her past and described it in a vivid explaination. All the events cliqued so well with the story from the beginning all the way to the very end. Plus, the ending is a total shock. I recommend this book to everyone who likes Chuck Palahnuik or who ever wants to read a good novel or who ever is tired of being beautiful......

Summary: Soul Saver
Review: If you want your soul saved, you've come to the right spot. Not here in my feeble review of a master author, but in ANY book written by Palahniuk. Using a combination of a humor, shock value, and viseral knowledge of not so everyday things and a disfunction hero/heroine, Palahniuk constructs a tale that will save your soul by the end of the novel. His stories are assembled in such a fashion that everything-EVERYTHING is tied together with a surprising little bow in an ending that always comes full circle. And, with a flare all his own, he takes the reader on a bumpy journey that dances from plot to plot, finally making sense when you won't think it will. This book, out of all of his, took my breath away. The ending was shocking and wonderful and disturbing and everything I love about his writing, and yes I felt as if my soul was saved. IF you're wondering why I'm not talking about the plot, its because you just need to read it for yourself. Jump in on your own, I won't guide you, you need to experience it first hand. For roughly 13 dollars, you too can save your soul.

Summary: Whoa!
Review: Great read, I put it down practically in a trans-Atlantic flight. Pretty hard to digest at first - the writing style is a bit off beat but you soon see why. It kept me guessing till the end!

Summary: Marilyn Manson Meets Glamour Magazine
Review: Obviously, you know it's written by the dude who wrote Fight Club. If you know how the relationship between Brad Pitt and Ed Norton is cleverly tied together in that movie, then Invisible Monsters may not pack the same dramatic punch. I saw Fight Club, and thus anticipated the plot twist of Invisible Monsters from a mile away, yet I enjoyed the book thoroughly. It's a difficult novel to describe: really disorienting at first, focused on facial disfigurement and prescription drugs, but written with the upbeat puffery of women's fashion magazines. Lurid and delicious like a bar drink named after a raunchy sexual position.

Summary: Palahniuk at his best once again.
Review: Once again Palahniuk shines. This time there is an interesting twist from the normal male point of view given so often by Palahniuk. The main character is a female and the novel deals with her battles to overcome her addiction to beauty and the false life she had lived until her face was shot off and eaten by the birds (don't worry, it will make sense when you read it.) You can see all of the normal traits of a Palhniuk novel from the typical crazy storyline to the placement of the philosophy of the characters throughout the story to assist them in becoming something better. Another great job by one of the most important authors of our time.
