Rating: Summary: Typically Robbins, but still enjoyable. Review: Made a new friend this weekend, and during our touring of the city he mentioned "Still Life." So, on a whim I picked up a tattered, used, paperback copy. I'm glad I did. Robbins has a flair for creating the zanniest of characters, and putting them in the most absurd of predictaments. But it isn't just the story that keeps you interested; Robbins' style is unique, one that keeps you turning pages just to see HOW he'll deliver whats floating in his head. If you've ever read any of Robbins' works before, you know what I mean; and if you haven't read this one yet, do so.
Rating: Summary: ahhhh.. :) Review: this was probably one of the most incredible books i havce ever read. it is erotic.. and saucy.. and inticing ( i dont know how to spell sorry) read it to make you smile.. read it to feel the comfort of love.. and how it works.. it makes you warm.
Rating: Summary: ? Review: I've yet to come across a more verbose writer with less to say ... maybe Joseph Heller ... go out and buy Catch-22 if you liked this one
Rating: Summary: Read all of Tom Robbins, he's such a good time Review: Pick up a Tom Robbins book, Still Life or any other, and let yourself go into a million different worlds. He's funny, philosophical, and very, very, true. He will open your mind and you'll love it.
Rating: Summary: I went to a lecture that Tom Robbins gave at U. of Wash. Review: Since that fateful night in 1986 I have gorged myself on Still Life With A Woodpecker. Tom's sets forth the true difference between an outlaw and a criminal. He reveals, in the most FANTASTIC ways the purpose of the moon, redheads, and much, much more. Tom Robbins has the whit of Kurt Vonnegut, and the insane depth of Thomas Pinchon. Everyone of his books is a MUST READ for all those who crave the slightly twisted.
Rating: Summary: This was a GREAT book. Review: I read this book a couple of months ago and it was wonderful. This is the first book of Robbins that I've read and I can't wait to read more of his work. I often would be reading along and just have to burst out laughing. He's Great!
Rating: Summary: VERY good! Review: This is just an unbelievale book! It's like nothing I've ever read before. It's totally random, yet follows all logic. It goes into so many different subjects yet always stays on one path. Just unbelievable. A must read!
Rating: Summary: This book single-handedly made me believe in love again! Review: Amazing! I couldn't put this book down. A friend lent it to me, partially because I am a redhead, and much of this book focuses on our curious "race". Robbins' storytelling is phenominal, and I would, without a second thought, reccomend this book to anyone searching for the answer to the one true question in life, that is: Who know how to make love stay? This is perfect for the hopeless romantic, the fan of the black comedy, redheads and redhead lovers alike.
Rating: Summary: Drink lots of exspresso Review: This book will put you to sleep. Allright the beggining is not that bad, but it takes time to get going, and the story never really goes anywhere. A full plot is what is missing from this one. Slightly funny, Tom's typwriter hyjinks are the best part of the book.
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL AUTHOR Review: This is the best book that I have ever read. Robbins has a wonderful style of writing. Question such as "who knows how to make love stay" really make you think. It is my favorite book.
