Summary: Sweet
Review: It's been difficult for me to find I book in a long time that has captured my attention the way this book did. I felt myself rooting for JJ (Jemima) the entire way through!! Although I had some difficulties at first with Jemima being attracted to really over-the-top gorgeous men, I got over it. Atleast Ben was a little more than just a beautiful face.

I felt that I could relate to Jemima even though I've never really had a huge problem with my weight. I think we all need to be aware of comfort eating.

Summary: Do not take this book lightly....throw with great force
Review: Obviously this book was written by someone who has never been overweight in her life. Besides being poorly written and predictable I also found it to be patronizing and ridiculous. It may come as a surprise to Jane Green but many overweight people do have friends and do go out in public. Also if Jemima is so insecure would she really be seen walking to work eating 2 bacon sandwiches? Another surprise for the author is that if you have been heavy your whole life as Jemima was and lose that much weight in that short of a time you will not look like a supermodel naked. This book was unfunny, unrealistic and at its best extremely boring. Do your self a favor and skip it.

Summary: You'll either love it or hate it.
Review: I read this book straight through in one sitting because I couldn't leave Jemima before I found out how things would end for her. Jemima Jones is overweight and obsessed with food and a boy she works with, Ben Williams. She discovers the Internet, meets a gorgeous man online, and when he decides he wants to meet her, she exercises like mad and starves herself to be tiny. Things work out rather strangely with the Internet Guy, but the ending is a happy one that should make everyone smile.

Having been overweight myself and also having been involved in a relationship online, I could relate easily to the book. Sure, there were some bits where I wanted to strangle Jemima, but if you take the time to look at things from her point of view, you will understand. It's important to be understanding of Jemima and not pass judgment on the character because her feelings are quite realistic, and maybe not everyone can relate to it.

This is a good book. Yes, Jane Green jumps from on POV to another, and yes, it isn't a literary masterpiece. But it's a human story with human themes and it ends with the discovery of true love so it's all good.

Summary: If you like books about losing weight...
Review: this is your book! You will note in the reviews that people either love it or hate it. I have to admit, it isn't the greatest writing, but it is an easy and fast read. A total of 8 people read my copy, and everyone liked it. Also, one thing you have to understand in the book is that a British size 8 is around an American size 0-4. This can be confusing if you read the book and can't understand how someone who is 121 pounds and 5'7'' would wear a 6 or 8 or whatever she wears.

Summary: I Couldn't Even Finish It!
Review: Being that I could not force myself to waste another minute of my life and finish Jemima Jones, I might not be the best reviewer. Once I decided to quit reading it, I felt myself being shallowly pulled towards it. Though, when I considered the completely unrealistic plot and annoying tense shifts, the pulls weakened. The character transformation of Jemima Jones was laughable. A woman who could never control her eating habits suddenly becomes practically anorexic in the name of an online love! It would take a little more motivation than that to completely reverse all your bad habits and food mentality. Don't waste your time on this book. I suggest "Bridget Jones' Diary" and "Bridget Jones': The Edge of Reason." They are so much better than this fairy tale!

Summary: Wonderful Book
Review: I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone who loves a great story.
The author had me guessing what was going to happen next the whole time.
It's a beautiful story! BUY it today!

Summary: A quick read, but rather heinous
Review: I bought this book in London to read on the the 15 hour flight back to the states. I finished it on the plane. It was a rather quick and painless read, but oh so lame. I felt that women were depicted very poorly, especially overweight women. Green harldy touches on the self-esteem/mental side of being overweight, and chooses to focus instead on the more shallow aspects (i.e. thin = happy, love, money). I didn't HATE the book, but I felt it was poorly written, and many of the characters were undefined. JJ was very unlikable because she was so shallow. A decent book to read if you have several hours to kill and there is nothing better around. Otherwise, avoid it.

Summary: Awesome book
Review: There is a little of Jemima Jones in everyone. The ending was a little obvious but the book is a great read. I passed this book onto a friend and she could NOT put it down either. The book may come across superficial-she loses weight to be with a great looking guy that she would normally not have if she remained overweight, but the book also deals with issues of what overweight people deal with daily. We all feel like a Jemima Jones at one time or another, almost everyone can identify with her in one way or another. A great book for the mid-20 singleton!!!

Summary: Review for Jemima J
Review: Jemima J is a great book, for it describes alot about real life situations. This book is a story about an overweight girl, called Jemima who is in love with one of her co-workers. Unfortunatedly, the coworker only likes her as a friend, and seems "interested" in the only real friend Jemima has, Geraldine. Geraldine, on the other hand, is gorgeous and happy, and can have any man she wants. The story goes on about Jemima going on the Internet for the first time, and meeting a perfect man from California who owns a gym. This causes Jemima to start motivating herself to lose weight with the goal to become beautiful and happy. You will have to read the book to see what happens. This book teaches the reader about self esteem, and loving yourself, as well as friendship, with a little touch of romance and humor in it. This book made me laugh many times, but there were also moments where there were emotional parts that really encourages me to read other books written by Jane Green. This book is full of the wonders of real life situations, and it is a book that you simply can't put down until you know what happens at the end. Anyone looking for a laugh, and just for a peaceful but fun filled time should definetly read this book.

Summary: Absolutely Fabulous
Review: I just finished the book today and I *loved* it!! Yeah, it was a little far fetched at some points, but it IS fiction. If you keep that in the back of your mind, you'll love it. The only thing that bothered me was that she described herself as larger than a house, and complained about how huge she was. But then when she went to the fitness guy, she was only 217, and was 5'7...not exactly bigger than a house, and actually mildly insulting to overweight women. However, I completely loved this book, and can relate a lot to Jemima. If you like comedy and have a few hours to spare (because you won't be able to put this down!!) then I recommend it 100% :)
