Summary: Hell yeah
Review: The two stories that frame this volume, "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" and "Teddy," are probably the most famous contained therein. At any rate, they're the ones that everyone's clamoring about. Personally, I love "For Esme -- With Love and Squalor" the best. The character of Esme is one of the most fascinating I've come across, bar none. But none of the stories aren't literature in the grandest sense...this little volume contains most of the contemporary wisdom on how a short story should be constructed. Read it.

Summary: Here I write today... I read "Teddy" eight years ago in HS
Review: Often as my head sinks into my pillow I think about Teddy. I read the story once. I will never read it again. I don't need to.

Summary: good vs evil
Review: This book was alright but what always bothers me about Salinger is that he always makes his characters either good guys or bad guys. We have the almost mystical precouis good guys, like the glass family, and then theres everyone else, the narrowminded phonys. In real life people are both good and bad and have many failings, weaknesses and strengths. Personally I find the glass family to be terribly unrealistic and annoying.Catcher in the Rye was a much better book.

Summary: everyone NEEDS to read this book
Review: the truest book ever writte

Summary: Touching book full of top class humour
Review: Many things have been said about salinger's books. In this one,so personal and autobiographic he talks us about his childhood. His style is sober and accurate wich may make you think there's little room for laugh(like in The catcher..), but here I had a good laugh; And there aren't many writers that make me laugh!! I strongly recommend you to read the last one,"The blue period of Daumier-smith". It's so funny!

Summary: Amazing
Review: These are simply some of the best stories ever written. Salinger's style is so unique and wonderful, I gobbled up these stories in a day, and then went back and read them all again. My favorites were "For Esme..," "Down at the Dinghy," and "The Laughing Man." Truly a great collection. Anyone who likes this should also read "Franny and Zooey" and "Raise High the Roofbeams." "catcher.." remains my least favorite Salinger work.

Summary: A pretty good read
Review: This book was alright but a lot of people dont seem to understand that in Pretty Mouth and Green My Eyes that the guys wife is cheating on him with the friend that hes talking to on the phone. Shes the girl on the bed. See, the irony is that this poor guys been bleeding out his heart to his friend and his friend is sleeping with his wife.Thats why he wont let him come over to talk and why he is surprised when the guy calls back again and tells him that his wife came home. The poor guy is either very seriously deluding himself or he just wants to keep on pretending that everything is ok and he resents himself for spilling his feelings out to someone so hes going to try and repress them again. That was a good story but it wasnt half as good as a Perfect Day for Bananna Fish

Summary: wow!
Review: will we ever see another amazing writer like J.D. Salinger? I wish this man would grace us with more of his genius. He is a master story teller. His stories are like magnificent paintings and he's leading me by the hand through the landscape only to be left standing alone in the dark.

I'm wondering if he will leave us stacks of unpublished work when he has expired? please?

Summary: disturbingly beautiful
Review: This book is everything - the truth, the truth, and thetruth. From the beginning with "The perfect day..." to thebreathtaking "Teddy", it just hits straight to the point. It is completely perfect.

Summary: a good book
Review: this is a pretty good book. the best stories are "a great day for banna fish" and "Teddy". "For esme: with love and squaler" is also very good. "down at the dinghy" and "mr. Damuer smiths blue period" are also ok. each story is very passionate and really makes you think. I read "a great day for bannafish 3 times again right after i read it the first at 1:00 in the morning. all in all its very good, even if your not a big salinger fan.
