Rating: Summary: One of the BEST reads ever! Review: I just happened upon this book and found it to be one of the best books I have ever read. It is gripping from beginning to end. A lengthy book it is, but every page will keep you wanting more. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction. You won't want it to end!
Rating: Summary: Sacajawea Review: I read the book while travelling in our Motor Home along the Lewis & Clark trail and I found it to be most adventurous book I have ever read and I can hardly wait to read it again. It was wonderful and I rate it in the top 5 of all books I have read.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful read!! Review: I read this a couple of summers ago, and it's the perfect "summer" book. It's a grand and wonderful read. I wish I could find something as great for this summer.
Rating: Summary: a fabulous read. Review: I read this book a least 12 years ago and thought it was just a fantastic book. Waldo writes in a way that you want to read everything she writes. I have a friend in Boise, Idaho and she mentioned a Historical Site about Sacajawea just this morning. I asked her if she had read the book - no.. I'm going to send it to her for her birthday this month. I'm currently looking for the book in hard bound... I believe it was the longest book I have ever read...I want to read the book again!!!! Read it, you won't be disapointed!
Rating: Summary: A Truly Amazing Story about an Amazing Woman Review: I read this book a number of years ago, but felt that I had to reveiw it. This is a book that touched me deeply. It is probably one of the longest books I've ever read, but it didn't seem long when I read it. I was so engrossed in the story about this courageous woman. I am an avid historical fiction buff, and I would honestly rate this book as one of the ten best of this genre that I have read. It's wonderful, heartwarming and sad. I laughed and cried with Sacajawea. I feel richer for having known her.

Rating: Summary: a fabulous read. Review: I read this book about 10+ years ago and still recommend it to people to this day. I LOVED this book. I remember reaching the last 20 or so pages of this book and crying because I didn't want it to end... it was like saying good-bye to a good friend. Ever since then I have been a big fan of "historical" books and a bigger fan of Sacajawea. When the Sacajawea dollar was released and nobody knew who she was I quickly filled them in and told them to READ THIS BOOK!! She deserves so much respect I am so amazed she did what she did at the age she did it. I'm ordering the book today for a friend who finds herself with lots of time on her hands. (What better way to spend your time than to read a GREAT book).

Rating: Summary: Breathtaking! The perfect "beach book." Review: I read this book when it first came out, and I still have the tattered copy that I've reread twice. The writing is a delightful guide to the minds eye. You can see and feel every detail of this magnificent journey. This book does credit to Sacajawea's character and remarkable courage. As an educator, I recommend this book to anyone who avoids historical books because they're too dull. You won't want to put this one down.
Rating: Summary: beautiful, sumptious, magnificent writing Review: I was completely enthralled with this book during the month it took me to read it and now that I have finished it, I feel like I am saying good-bye to a true and valued friend. Anna Lee Waldo has created a scholarly masterpiece that deserves to be read by future generations, not just by North Americans seeking to learn more about their countries, but by people all over the world. Sacagawea's story of perservance, hope and belief in herself are an inspiration for everyone. Although the book covers all of what is known about Sacagawea's life, there appears to be some question as to when and where exactly she died. Waldo presents the known facts and lets the reader decide for him/herself. The book contains hundreds of interesting footnotes as well as a detailed biography. There is also a small, rather inadequate map -- you may find you need to get a larger, clearer one of the area in order to keep up with Sacagawea's travels throughout the west. My only problem with the book was the cover which makes it look like an historical romance which it is decidedly not (although it does contain love and romance and joy as well as sorrow and pain). I am greatful to amazon.com for helping me to find this wonderful book, to echo what jhogan said earlier, why isn't this book better known?
