Summary: A good story, but too jumpy.
Review: Summer Sisters, by Judy Blume, is a great story about a friendship that lasts for twenty years. The author uses valuable historical facts from the seventies, eighties, and early nineties, adding a nice touch to the book. However, it skips to fast from event to event in some places in the novel. The ending was very surprising, but some things were very predictable leading up to the ending. What a sad but wonderful story. The events surrounding puberty and other life altering events is wonderful throughout the book. Between chapters, the author added insight to characters' thoughts. It was very easy to read, but I wish the chapters flowed more.

Summary: Disappointingly shallow
Review: Compared to the memorable female characters in recent great novels like "Mother of Pearl" or "The Triumph and the Glory", Blume's creations in "Summer Sisters" suffered from lack of depth, they seemed very one-dimensional. I love many of Blume's books, but this one didn't do much for me. I'm looking forward to her next one in the hope that she will return to form.

Summary: A heart wrenching book that makes you laugh and cry. Super!
Review: This book was definantly a page turner! A book about the love of two best friends, and the ups and downs they surpass throughout their friendship. As the girls are young, we get to go on a journey with them as they experience their first kiss, first love and summer flings right up to their acceptance into college, marriage and so forth. We grow up along with the two characters and feel so connected with them by time I finished the book I missed the girls deeply! You will love this story because it will remind you of yourself while you were young. I highly recommend this story to any female who loves a fun summer reading! Enjoy.

Summary: took me back in time
Review: I just finished this book and it only took me two days. I found myself lost in the lives of Vix and her summer sister. I'm 31, so I remember much about the refrences made in this book to the 70's and 80's. I would recomend this book to anyone under the age of 35 to read, but it's much too "young" for some people to read. It will bring back memories, to those that read it, of what it was like to be young, vulnerable, and innocent. My hats off to Judy Blume for once again capturing the feelings of adolesence.

Summary: Loved the book, love the author
Review: As a teen I read Judy Blume and I was thrilled when she targeted adult readers. Summer Sisters was fantastic and I can't wait to see what's next!

Summary: FABULOUS, WONDERFUL, AWESOME
Review: This novel was exciting and thorough. I greatly enjoyed the well-developed characters and the energetic plot. The girls' relationship was so real and they were easy to relate to, even if you've never had that best friend. I highly recommend this novel. THANK YOU Judy Blume for a wonderful adult book.

Summary: wonderful, enlightening, every woman can relate
Review: This novel reminded me of days spent on the Jersey shore. It helped me rediscover and understand aspects of being a woman I had long forgotten. A great read for young and older women alike.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: This book was pointless.
Review: I could find nothing of particular interest in the characters or plot of this novel. Page after page of childish, empty actions by childish, empty people. Sex seemed to be the only motivation for any of the characters. The main character might have had some depth, but it was never developed to any extent. I don't even want to lend this book to anyone - why should they bother to read it? I wish I hadn't.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great Summer Reading
Review: This is for all women who can remember their one "wild friend" from high school. Blume brings out the insecurities of the quiet one and show the reader that everyone goes thru the same feelings at one point in their lives or another.
