Summary: Judy Blume makes a friendship come alive
Review: This was a great book! I'm 14 and I read this 375 page book in half a week. But not all teens would enjoy this. It does have very adult situations so watch it. I liked the childhood part better (teen part) but that's probably because I could relate to it better. The only thing I didn't like was the very end. I won't spoil it but the epilogue is what I'm talking about. I felt like she didn't know how to end it so she thought that was the only way to put closure to it. Overall it was a spectacular book and I'm glad I own it!

Summary: Good Judy Blume; Predictable Ending.
Review: I read this book on the beach, as I do with most books. It was an easy read, interesting characters, and a good plot. BUT...I could see the ending coming a mile away. It almost seemed the author was tired of her own story, and needed to put it to bed. It is a good book, don't get me wrong, but another 50 pages would have given the ending a better chance.

Summary: This book has everything that can possibly make a book great
Review: Romance, family problems of every kind, "current" events, and suspense. There's something for everybody to like and not like. What could be a better summer read for a young woman!?!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I was captivated by the stories of the girls in this book.
Review: I read a lot of Judy Blume's books as I was growing up. I'm so glad she has started writing for adult readers. I really enjoyed "Summer Sisters." I couldn't put it down. The book made me laugh and at times I wanted to cry. However, I was a little disappointed with the end. After following the lives of the two girls from their young teens to their 30's, I wanted to know more. I would like it if Blume would write a sequel.

Summary: A real Page turner! Loved it!
Review: I too like many of the readers am in my early 30's.. I have read Judy Blume as a teen and loved her work then, and Summer Sisters is no exception! I couldn't put the book down! The references to the events of the 70's and 80's were wonderful as well as I relived my teen years..Can't wait for the next one!!

Summary: This book was great!
Review: As a teen, I think this book was great. I read it within 24 hours. I couldn't put it down.

Summary: Nice aroma, good body, but a very dry finish!
Review: I fell right away for this book as it took me through the difficult teenage years we all try not to remember. As I was lured through to the end, I expected, as most of us would, a creative finish where one exhales and at the close of the cover. But, instead, was greeted with what seems to be a rushed and not well thought out ending. The plot and characters are well illuminated, but their actions seem less than credible.

Summary: I remember now why i read fudge
Review: brings back memories, of her writings. indeed, it was an excellent summer reading, but i personally felt it could do with more details to tread the story through. melodramatic perhaps?

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: fun, frivolous reading
Review: I enjoyed this book, although it did cross my mind that for the most part the only people that would enjoy reading about the sex lives of 14 year olds are other 14 year olds and I don't feel it's a suitable book for young teens. On the other hand it reminded me of my own youth and my very best childhood friend. I hadn't read a Judy Blume book since I was about 11 years old, and I must admit it was enjoyable to return to her world!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Shallow characters in a cliche situation
Review: I was disappointed in this book, the first adult book I have read by Blume whose children's books I thought were great. The two main characters seemed to be sterotypes of the rich and poor girl. No attention was given to the complexities of these roles. In particular, I think Caitlin was overlooked. Is a rich girl only superficial? Does she get no credit for taking a job cleaning toilets in order to keep her friend company? These summer jobs were, to me, a particularly jarring note. I am not familiar with the Vineyard but since when do trust fund kids take summer jobs with cleaning services? Didn't this raise eyebrows with the family? Was it courageous? What did Caitlin think? The reader will never know what she thought since Blume doesn't tell us or seem interested. I suspected Blume had no idea what the inner life of a rich kid was like and assumed it wasn't worth considering. I would not recommend this book to a friend.
