Summary: Entertaining, but stretches the believable
Review: I gave this five stars for the entertainment value. Just don't spend too much time thinking about the plausibility of some of the character's behavior and some of the action sequences. Baldacci is one of my favorite authors, however I would rank this well behind some of his other work. I'm getting a little weary of the single-mom-turned-selfless-heroine characters that I have come across in about 6 of the last 10 books I have read.

Summary: O.K. Read
Review: Saving Faith David Baldacci Warner Books 1999 ISBN #0446525774 H.C. Thriller

A political thriller with nonstop action, and an astounding look into the inner sanctums of our government.

The villain Robert Thornhill, a deputy director of The Central Intelligence Agency hates the FBI because they have more money & power than his CIA. This character is the ultimate bad guy, you get the impression that he has no good in him at all. In a wooded area of Northern Virginia a small house at the end of a gravel road, with its security apparatus and hidden miniaturized cameras it is being used by the the FBI to interview one of the most important witnesses the agency has ever had. But a few people know about the secret meeting, for them a violent drama is about to begin. Faith Lockhart is the secret witness who must go on the run with Lee Adams, a man that she does not know and does not trust yet. Adams and Lockhart are very likable characters, but I felt that the author didn't develop the characters enough. I also thought that this book had to much foul language compared to his other books. Even with those 2 faults, this was a very good read. Don't pass it up.

Davis Baldacci is also the author of "Absolute Power' which is very good. So if you like "Saving Faith" get "Absolute Power". No wonder that David Baldacci is always on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Summary: Not even entertaining
Review: I have liked Baldacci's previous books because I liked the characters and I thought the guy wrote good stories. At times I began to think that his story hooks were a little too frequent, but then I realized they were all exciting and really perfect for the 'made for TV' style of nove. This book, however, had characters that, despite a lot of time with them, were never developed. The dialogue was comical in its simplicity and idiocy. Would you ever be completely angry with, upset with, suspicious of, and afraid of a complete stranger (both vocally and internally) one minute and then be pouring out your heart within two minutes? Well Baldacci thinks you would. I will not read another Baldacci book unless a very large number of people assure me that he has returned to his former talent. Otherwise I would feel like I was watching my life tick away.

Summary: Amateurish
Review: I never read anything by David Baldacci before. Based on this book I won't be reading anything else by him in the future. My library closes for the weekend and I like to have at least one good book ready for weekend reading. I picked this one up with much anticipation based on the reviews of Baldacci's other books reprinted on the back cover. What a disappointment. I read only one chapter; I found it poorly written and unbelievable. It's going back to the library on Monday.

Summary: What was that about?
Review: I've read all books written by Baldacchi and I was very excited about this book. I liked the title. And that was it. The first part boring, annoying - no Baldacchi at all. The last few pages with the big show-down, that was a bit more Baldacchi. I can't recommend this book, sorry for this time, but I think, it's the most unlikely and rushed book I've ever read by Baldacchi. I just hope that the next one will be a good one, just like the others.

Summary: What Happened to David Baldacci?
Review: Wow, what a let down! Was this book rushed, written to quickly to satisfy the publisher's contract? Where is the imagination? Where is the "unpredictable" suspense. None of this was present, this book was written more to the tune of a 3rd graders reading and imagination level....Poor, poor, poor...

Summary: Pure Balderdacci
Review: If anybody but a bestselling author submitting this, ahem, manuscript to a reputable publisher, they'd have gotten a Dear John letter. I hope this doesn't end Baldacci's career, but it will certainly be something to overcome, like Arnold's Last Action Hero and End of Days. Like those, the title Saving Faith could end up as a double entendre. How about that male FBI agent that was passed over so a woman his junior could become his boss? I bet he would make a good turncoat... :) How about a nasty CIA director so drunk with power that he is a pure black widow spider in a Brooks Brothers suit? I bet he will fall prey to the Fallacy of the Talking Killer at the end :) How about having every politician in Washington be on the take and then instantly conspire to claim they were in on a FBI sting and were just pretending? What realism! There are so many problems with this half-cooked book it could be used in writing classes as a case study. I give it 2 stars because the interplay between Faith and her PI protector/lover had its moments, and I found only about half a dozen instances of bad grammar and sentence fragments.

Summary: Diane Yannick
Review: David Baldacci, you should be ashamed of yourself! This book is wretched. How dare you write a book so convoluted and stupid. I will never trust your name again. I bought all of your other books in hardcover and enjoyed them. I wish I had never bought this one period. I did not care about any of the characters or the plot. How dare your editor let you think that this was ready for your readers!

Summary: Entertaining
Review: Raeding Saving Faith is like chewing a good piece of bubble gum. You enjoy it while chewing it but forget about it immediately once you're through with it. Baldacci provides enough action in this political thriller to maintain your interest, although much of the suspense and interplay between the characters is somewhat predictable. While I enjoyed reading Saving Faith, it is certainly not among his best books. However, I don't agree that it is as bad as many of the earlier rewiewers consider it to be. If you're looking for light beach reading that is fast-paced, mildly exciting and will hold your interest, give Saving Faith a try. But if you have not read Baldacci before, I'd suggest you start by reading one of his other books --especially Absolute Power.

Summary: Too bad--I wanted to like this book
Review: Do you ever "save" a book to savor at a special time? I met the author and chatted with him while he autographed my book. I love political thrillers and I live in DC and so was prepared to really like this book which I saved for Christmas week. Sadly I was not gripped by suspense and could not feel for any of the characters. I really did not care if Faith was saved. Too much chasing, little left to the imagination. Kind of like a "Murder she wrote" episode
