Summary: Thought Provoking!
Review: Paying It Forward is one of the best books I have read for a great while! It was interesting, kept you guessing how all of the people Trevor helped (with the condition they "pay it forward") would pay their dept forward. It also made you think about how a small act of kindness can have long lasting effects, far past the originator's eyes. I would recommend this book to everyone. Not only is it a good story, but the underlying request to DO SOMETHING leaves you thinking about the book long after the last page is read.

Summary: Beautiful and inspiring
Review: I just read Pay it Forward in two days. It will be my Christmas gift book this year for all my book loving friends who don't discover it themselves before December. It is a beautiful story about a regular 13 yr old boy with a simple vision on how he can improve the world, never realising at the onset how far reaching his plan would be and how many people's lives it would touch and forever change. This novel is nowhere near as syrupy as it sounds but you know someone out there is going to make a movie of Pay it Forward eventually - let's hope they can do it justice.

Summary: What a wonderful book!
Review: This is the most uplifting book that I have read in a long time, and I really needed an uplifting book for a change. Too many books out there are cynical and depressing. There are a lot of good people in our world, and this book talks about three of them -- Trevor, Arlene, and Reuben. And further more, the author explores the possibility for good that is in all of us -- given the right motivation. Too many books concentrate on the possibility of evil in everyone. But this story does the opposite. The book is not long, but her characters were well-crafted and lived on the page. I also loved the way she told the story, in bits and pieces from different points of view and from different angles of time. This increased the suspense of the story. Read this book!

Summary: This Was Good But Not Great
Review: "Pay it Forward" was a decent read. It kept my attention enough to finish it in 2 days, however I feel the characters could have been more developed. I especially would have liked a better portrayal of Arlene. Her character was the best in the book. I would recommend it to others.

Review: I was so thrilled with this book, I went back and bought three more copies for others. This is my first step in "Paying it Forward." What a wonderful message for the world. I'm looking for other DELIBERATE acts of kindness. Thank you to Catherine Ryan Hyde!

Summary: Audio Tapes - Not for Children
Review: The audio version of this story is filled with four-letter expletives, discussions of sloppy birth control practices, and the like. These are unnecessary and do not add to the story. Perhaps my understanding of the intended audience was incorrect. This is an "R" rated audio, not appropriate for children's ears. Yet, the message has such appeal. It is a shame that it cannot be shared with our children. Perhaps the book is better. I am returing the tapes.

Summary: Hope + Action + Determination = Change
Review: Catherine Ryan Hyde has thrown a pebble into the stagnant pond of cynicism and the waves have already begun to reverberate into our daily lives. This novel will reawaken your childlike sense of possibility and wonder. It is a well written and compelling story about characters with real problems, and how change might be possible when hope is combined with action and determination. Watch out. Someone you don't even know might be doing you a favor.

Summary: We should all Pay It Forward
Review: Although I finished this book several weeks ago, it's message has not left me. I wrote the simple words," I Will" on the inside cover and passed it on. I have since been contemplating an action I could take that would have an impact on the next person. I have found one and I am sure you will ,too. Enjoy this wonderful quick and fullfilling read as I did and although it sounds too simple to believe,that something so simple could work, it gives each of us an oppportunity to find out for ourselves....

Summary: If only it could happen-a haunting novel
Review: I absolutely loved this book, I couldn't put it down. It may be idealistic, but if it could be true on a small scale, the world would be a better place. You will love the characters. Don't wait for the movie.....
