Rating: Summary: imperfect comment, perfect book Review: this is a book about a perfect idea thought by a 12 year-old boy who grew up in an imperfect environment, meeting imperfect people. some chapters are writing about the other people involved in other places. those interviews about them afterwards are of great cinematic feel! it's like a documentary of the boy's life! although it has a sad ending, it leaves great emotions for the readers to think about the idea and also about the world around them. it's really good and worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Pay it Forward..... Review: Wow, this was an amazing book. A young boy with an idea that could change the world, his mother who only goes for what is the worst for her (even when she already has something better), and his teacher who is disfigured in Vietnam. A group of three flawed people that end up doing something big, the perfect plot for a perfect happy ending book right? Not so fast there tiger! This book will take an unexpected twist, but all ends well. This shares an amazing message, and gives hope for the human race!
Rating: Summary: INSPIRING Review: This book won't take you long to read because it's WONDERFUL! I strongly reccommend reading it BEFORE seeing the movie because key characters have changed...Pay It Forward is inspiring, funny, tearful...I couldn't put it down. It's not sappy either. The story of giving to others unconditionally is set in the harsh reality of what we call our world!
Rating: Summary: A mezmerizing book Review: Although this book didn't touch me like other books I have read in the past. I would recommend this book to anybody who wants to change the world because this book has such an important message. It says no matter how small you are what age you are you can make a difference, and this book is a perfect example of that. This book had me in awe that a kid my age named Trevor Mckinny could change the world with a Social Studies project that stated see if you can change the world. Trevor got right to work and made a huge impact in socity. The author did such a great job on describing Trevor's friends and family. They where so vivid and clear. For example th way she describes Ruben St. Clairs face( Trevor's Social Studies teacher) as being all torn up from an accident in war. Another character that the author did a vivid job of describing is Arline Mckinny(Trevors mom)she described her as being a worn out mother who has so much love to give yet she is giving it to all the wrong people. Get ready to be blown away with an endiing that you will never forget. This ending had me in awe, who would ever think that innocent Trevor Mckinny on his last mission to help the world would be fatally stabbed. Will he live or die you will just have to read and find out. So if you have a heart and your ready to be blasted away read the book Pay It Forward
Rating: Summary: Just read it! Review: Read this book, and then pay it forward to someone else...I did!
Rating: Summary: It could happen Review: The best book I've read in a long time, I could not put it down. The best thing about it is that while you are reading about Trevor's idea and how he accomplishes it, you are thinking to yourself, "Wow! What if this was actually possible?". Well...is'nt it?
Rating: Summary: Where's the Beef? Review: I had two problems when reading this book. First, several methods of dialogue were terribly inaccurate. At one point, the author attempted to create authentic gangster dialogue for an interview. The word choice was that of a forties gangster, not a 90's gangsta. Several other times word selection reminded me of my mom trying to be "hip." The other problem I had with this book was the description. On more than one occasion the writer would build up to a non-existent climax by failing to give the reader sufficient detail. The television broadcast was one of many examples. The ending helped but couldn't salvage this struggling novel.
Rating: Summary: Pay It Forward, a model for a new utopia Review: Pay It Forward is a fast read with enough twists, turns, and surprises to keep most readers interested in this story of a young boy's attempt to change the world. Like the typical Thomas Hardy novel, a few well timed "accidents" maintain suspense. Also, this novel is clever enough for us to suspend disbelief in what appears to be a far fetched premise and care what happens to a young boy who believes he can change the world by helping others and then suggesting that instead of thanks, what he really wants is for the people he helped to pay it forward, that is, assist other people without expecting any reward for the good deed. As is the case with most popular books, the movie version of this story was not as good as the book on which it was based.
Rating: Summary: Pay it Forward Fails to Deliver Review: The telling of this sappy story has NUMEROUS flaws... -The character development is shallow. -The action is predictable -The action is unplausable -The stereotypes are very contrived (i.e. the little old woman who loves her garden, or the man with a scarred face that reflects his scarred emotional self) -The ending was predictable from the very beginning!
Rating: Summary: My first book by author and I loved it! Review: One of the most inspirational books I've read. This is the first book I've read by Catherine Ryan Hyde and loved it. It tells about a boy with a big heart and witty intelligence. He creates a project that will change the world though he doesn't know that the results will truly be worldwide. It makes you appreciate the simple creative minds of children. Aside from that, there is a romantic tie that flows with the story to give the book a combination plot. I recommend all to read it!
