Summary: "That's wolves for you. Good guys!" - Wolf, 10th Kingdom
Review: Virginia, a beautiful New York waitress, didn't know the adventure that would unfold the day she hit a dog with her bike. She and her single parent father, Tony, a bumbling but caring man, follow the magical Prince turned dog into a world straight out of Grimm's Fairy Tales. They soon find Happily Ever After didn't turn out the way everyone hoped as they are pursued by Trolls, and an Evil Queen. They are joined by Wolf, a werewolf who can't decide whether he wants to love or eat Virginia. Through page after page of striking comedy, fast-paced chases pitfalls and magic spells, they fight to save all the 10 Kingdoms and find out about their true destinies.

10th Kingdom keeps alive the traditions of fantasies, but manages to give a modern twist to old fairy tales and eventually weaving itself into its own unique legend. The characters are as colorful in the book as in the aclaimed TV series, but it lacks in how it's written, which could be a bit better. However, I believe that for a book written from a TV mini-series, this is the most excellent of its kind. I found 10th Kingdom to be extremely thrilling and I could easily get into the vast storyline. It was long enough to fully develop each character's personality and most of it commented on each character's inner thoughts and desires.

My favorite character has to be Wolf, who acted as the dashing but dangerous hero. He was constantly moody, yet could always figure out what to do when different problems came into play. His favorite phrases are "Huff-puff," and "Cripes," which he frequently uses. Wolf says on page 471 near the end of the book to Virginia, "This is not the end of the story. It is just a chapter." This story is all about the end of one story and beginning of another, and ends in the same way. When you close one chapter of your life, another is just beginning and with each chapter, there's always a second chance to make your life better.

10th Kingdom does contain a good amount cussing, and also some gory scenes, (Which, if you've read any of the original Grimm Tales, you know this is how they are.) so I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone. I believe most younger kids would be better off with something else, but if they still want to, I suggest having an adult read it so they get more out of it. It would make a great bedtime story in that way also. There are many more wonderful fantasy books out there that are begging to be read by adventurous readers like yourself. This is only one of them, and what a jewel it is!

Summary: A Dream Come True
Review: I loved what little I saw on the television. While waiting for the movie to come out on DVD so that I could see what I missed, I picked up the book. It was better than the movie. I love it when you are able to know what the character is saying. Now I own the book and the DVD version of the movie. I love them both!!!!! Yes the real world is nice, but now I have two forms of escape! It's a Dream Come True!!!!!!

Summary: One of My Favorite Books
Review: I'm 11 and it took me 2 days to finish this book - I loved it! A young lady named Virginia is swept up in a magical chase after a mirror- to get her back to New York. The book has a good sense of humour and a bit of romance.

Summary: A successful story
Review: I started reading this book, about a week ago. I couldn't take my eyes off of it. Kathryn Wesley wrote a great book, of extreme situations. Starting when, a 20 year old and her father get stuck in a magical world of nine kingdoms. New York, where they live, was found to be the tenth. This book of magical mystery, will keep you guesing until the end. With a surprise or twist when it is least expected. This book is addicting, from the begining, when this twosome got stuck, until they find there ways in the end. I recomend this book to anyone age 11+.

Summary: Cripes --- Bravo!!
Review: Ok, I have read some of the reviews here... yes, they changed some stuff in the movie... notice I say movie, and not the book... the book came before the movie. It was actualy written before the movie... I too wonder why they changed stuff, but didn't alter the quality of the story.

I absolutely loved this book and the series. It is very creative and full of life. A very wonderful story that keeps you hooked till the last page.

The only way you're not going to enjoy this book is if you are not a creative, imaginative, and fantasy loving person.

Summary: A delightful mixture of all things nasty and nice
Review: ' a delightful mixture of all things nasty and nice ' i think this describes the 10th Kingdom to a tee...from the beautifull Virginia abbandoned by her mother at an early age to the villinous huntsman with his bow that doesn't stop still it strikes the heart of a living thing, this story is a wonderfull cocktail of fairy tales and myths. It'll keep you hanging on till the last page and you'll be very upset when the end comes!

Summary: Very good book
Review: This book rocked. It was WONDERFUL, I totally fell in love with it. I've read it a million times already, and I think it's the greatest. The story line flows along nicely with the mini-series. There are some things here and there that I would change, like using more variation than just "He said" "she said", but all together, the book was great. I totally recommend you read it. It has a little bit of everything, mystery, romance, suspense, adventure. Buy it, you won't regret it!

Summary: Wow!!
Review: What a book! What a movie! This book is based on The 10th Kingdom the TV movie from NBC. I thought it was the best! It has a few missing parts that the movie couldn't put all in. And it gives you a point of view of some of the characters.

Summary: Half & Half
Review: The book has some good points on things that weren't clear in the film, but in my opinion is lacking a great deal. The author took liberties with the story, changing scenes, dialog, even backgrounds that made me wonder why she even bothered. I understand that when you novelize something you have to make it book-size, but I think she could have done it better in sticking to the movie's placement of things. It answers a few questions, yes, but also has a lot more bad language than the film and is more suggestive. I'd give the author a smile for trying, but stick to the movie.
