Review: I have read both of Parry Brown's books and have yet to be disappointed. In Sittin' in the Front Pew she gives the reader a different look at death. The coping and healing a family goes through when a loved one passes on. The book is full of characters to love and characters to hate. Ms. Brown also shakes in a dash of drama and mystery. It is an enjoyable read that makes you laugh, cry, and shout. I couldn't put it down.

Review: I have been meaning to get to this book for a long time but I just picked it up. I didn't realize what I was missing. What a real account of how folks act when someone dies. Then in this book when the secrets unfold folks just start cutting up. The characters in this book were real for me so real that at the end of the book a sister shed real tears. I must now go and purchase Parry"EbonySatin" Brown's other book The Shirt off His Back because I am sure it will be just as good. Well done Ms.Brown.....Oh and I do agree SEXY DOES NOT HAVE A DRESS SIZE!!!!!

Review: Ms. Brown is a truly gifted writer. I have never before enjoyed crying while reading until Sittin' in the front pew. She makes you feel you are sitting next to the characters.....Can't wait till your next book. A new loyal fan!!!!!

Summary: I"M SORRY, BUT THIS STORY [is awful!]
Review: THIS IS THE MOST BORING BOOK I HAVE EVER READ. ONLY REASON WHY I'M READING THIS IS BECAUSE I HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO READ. PARRY, GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD ON THIS ONE, CAUSE IT'S VERY BAD. I DIDN'T LIKE THE CHARACTERS IN THIS BOOK, ESPECIALLY THE SISTERS, AND I FEEL LIKE SLAPPING ALL OF THEM TOO. THEY ACT LIKE SPOILED BRATS! AND THESE ARE SUPPOSE TO BE "STRONG BLACK SISTAS?" THE SISTAS I KNOW DON'T ACT LIKE THIS. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYBODY TO READ AND THE PLOT WAS VERY SLOW AND BORING, TOO DETAILED IN PLANNING A FUNERAL. WE DID NOT NEED TO KNOW ABOUT "FONTS USED FOR THE PROGRAM AND FLOWERS AND COLORS FOR THE CASET, AND WHAT COLORS WAS THE SISTERS GOING TO WEAR". ALL THAT WAS VERY TRIVIAL. MS BROWN, START AGAIN, PLEASE. AND THIS TIME, GET TO THE POINT OF THE PLOT, DON'T MAKE IT SO DRAWN OUT THAT THE READER GETS TIRED OF READING IT.

Review: This was wonderful, heart wrenching novel that remidns us all to appreciate those in our lives while they are here. A wonderful since of family...since we as African American are always deplicted as products of broken homes this book reveals not only family togetherness but that "We to" want higher educations for our children and we can be sucessful!!!!not stars of the 11 o'clock news.

Review: I read this book in one day and while I got tired of all the funeral arrangements as another reviewer did, I still found this to be an fascinating book. I loved it. Got a day at the beach or just sitting our relaxing in the garden? Then this book is the perfect compliment. I found myself laughing out loud more than I care to admit. The book is that engrossing. Do yourself a favor. READ IT!!!!

Summary: Who's Sittin on the front Pew
Review: Sittin' in the Front Pew let us inside the lives, of four of the Naylor sisters planning the funeral of their much loved dad. How can a man so loved be afraid to share such a secret with his family? Especially when this happened so long ago.
Can you imagine a person going to his grave and not telling the people he loved the most something so important . Then when the mystery person shows up and is allowed to sit on the front row one of the sisters refuses to attend.
Collette later decide to come and all hell breaks loose when she steps in the church dressed the way she was. While I did not find much humor in this story I did feel a lot of the emotions shared. It allowed me to go behind the scenes and actually see what can happen to a family after losing a loved one.
Having read this story I'll give it 3.5 stars .
