Summary: Sittin on the Front Pew
Review: It took all I had to finish this book. I really got tired of the funeral planning and the bickering of the daughters. There were some funny moments but this book still left me with sour thoughts of the author for writing this junk. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone and I am hoping that the author will find a more interesting subject next time. However, I won't know one way or the other. (I'm done with their writing)

Summary: Definte Page Turner
Review: I read this book in one day, it definetly kept me wanting to what was going to happpen next. Death does do strange things to people if you are not prepared for it, or have never had a family discussion of what should happen. But in the end the love of family conquers all. For those of us who don't have sister you definetly won't want any after this one because they can be evil to each other. Between these 4 sisters they all are successful in different ways and are jealous of each other because of their differences. The father has left behind many questions about his life and death, it makes you wonder how well do you really know the people you live with everyday. I definetly recommend this book for a raining Saturday afternoon.

Summary: Lawd....my family...my family
Review: These sisters are crazy...with a capital "C" and this book is delisous with a scandalous "D". These women are the many faces of black women every where.

You will laugh out loud, you will cry...cause you understand, you will thank God that you bought this book.

Parry A. Brown has got it right. This book has all the elements and it tells the embarrasing truth about US! We will cut-up at a funeral...and dare someone to speak on it. Reading Sittin' In The Front Pew, is like being a fly on the wall, you get all the goods and no one knows you there.

Read this book...your heart and mind will thank you.

Easily the best book I've read in a while...

Summary: Predictable
Review: I found this book to be so predictable. It was an okay read; however, some parts were just too unbelieveable. For instance, the fight in the church, and Anthony coming from out of nowhere. If the father was all that, why did he keep such a big secret for so long? It wasnt that bad of thing to where he could'nt have told his family. His mother had already died years before. And everyone knew who Nina was from the start. More thought could have been put in introducing her. Not the worst book i've read, but I've read better.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I wish I could give it ten stars
Review: This book has surpassed any book I have read in 2002. I would pass by this book in the bookstore over and over again, I am sorry it took me so long to read it.

The book begins with a phone call telling a sister that their father has suddenly died. After this phone call the drama begins.

The story begins with the decisions that have to be made by the four sisters; Renee, Colette, Glynda (Sissy), and Dawn. Each child is affected dramatically by their father's death. Each child has a different idea of how they want the funeral to be done.

There is also the situation with Edward's fiancee', Estelle. Two of the sisters have accepted the situation, two of them haven't, this causes another argument.

Then there is the mysterious Nina Blackford.

The characters were so realistic it was amazing. This book gave insight on what may go on when you are one of the people Sittin' on the Front Pew.

If you haven't read this book I suggest you run to the nearest bookstore and buy it. This is a book that you must have in your collection.

Summary: Another funeral for the record books.
Review: Ms. Parry Brown has once again penned another moving novel depicting real live problems and the way people deal with them. The talented writer has so eloquently written some of the happenings that family members face during their time of loss. She has even given us some of the dirt and other shocking family secrets are revealed. So roll up your sleeves and pick up a box of tissues, which you will need.
We are introduced to Collette, Dawn, Renee and Glynda who had gathered together to buy their beloved father who had taken care of them alone, after the death of their mother ten years prior. The sisters immediately started drawing battle lines over whether their father's fiancee. Estelle should be apart of making the arrangements. The siblings had some almost knock down drag out bouts from the color of their father's suit, to who would ride in the family car. To top thngs off, friends of the sisters were showing up expecting to be considered family and trying to get a ride in the family car. Thank goodness, their father's brother Uncle Thomas was there to keep everybody focused, as much as he could.
Their beloved father, Edward Naylor had been a pillar of the community and an excellent husband and father. However, when the family gathered to read his will and find out his final wishes for his burial, they discovered an insurance policy among the other policies with the name Nina Blackford on it. Who was this person? What does she have to do with their father? Why has no one in the family ever heard of her? Pick up a copy of the book and see what happened when the stranger arrived. You will not be disappointed. Friend Gurlz Book Club had a great discussion laughing about the memories of our family funerals.

Summary: Who will sit in the Front Pew?
Review: Emotions are stirred as family and friends come together to mourn the loss of Eddie Naylor a beloved father and well respected pillar of the community. The Naylor sisters come together to plan the homecoming service for their later father. Each sister has a different opionion regarding the planning eventhough Eddie Naylor left detailed instructions in his will. Upon reading through personal information and will a mystery woman is discovered and all hell breaks loose. The hunt is on to find out who this mystery person is and why she is included in the will.

Parry has another hit novel under her belt. This novel touched my heart. I laughed and dropped a tear or two while reading.I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I just had to see what was going to happen next. Add this one to your personal collection. Keep up the good work Parry and stay blessed.

Summary: Bravo!!
Review: Oh my what do I say. I absolutely loved this book, possibly more than I enjoy "The Shirt off his back" if that's at all possible. Once I got into the book it was a nonstop read. I definitely could relate to the characters. I must admit though at the end I was boo hooing all of the place without even realizing it. It's an eye opener, I definitely am learning to appreciate life, to not take it for granted, to be true to myself and others while I'm still here. Thank you for sharing your work and I look forward to more work from you in the future.
