Rating: Summary: Sittin' in the Front Pew Review: This book brought laughter and tears. Ms. Brown is an excellent writer. She leads her readers to believe that this is their (crazy but real) family. She is realistic and down to earth. Any author that makes her readers laugh and cry when they are alone is a gem. Once you pick up the novel, you cannot put it down until you have completed. This means that work and family have to step aside for a few hours and allow you to enjoy this brilliant novel. Please pick this book up and keep in your collection.
Rating: Summary: A READER FOR LIFE Review: Outstanding! This is a must read. It's full of emotion and the characters really come to life.
Rating: Summary: Exciting, Heart Wrenching and Emotional Review: Everytime, I read Parry's books they grab you from the opening line. This book had my undivided attention from the word go. When, I started reading and after the father had died and they found the will, and foundout that he was leaving money to a person name Nina Blackford. I was really hooked. I had to know who this person was. I read that book in exactly 24 hours from the time I got it from the bookstore. This is her second book that I have read, and I will continue to read them as long as she continue to write them. It has been great to know that their are black men out their that will handle their business and take care of their responsiblities. The storyline was very real to me, and it seemed like I knew people just like that, and were really selfish and uncaring. The most important person in their lives had been taken from them, and one person can cause a division in the whole family. To where they are not speaking to each other and it was all about money, and feeling that they were being left out of things. So, their was alot of pain going on and what could have been the worst case scenario end on a happy note. I really proud of Anthony because he wanted to be their to support his woman and did everything with in his power to be their when he was needed. Mr. Naylor was my kind of man, and their aren't to many of them. All I have to say is keep on writing, and I'll continue to read them.
Rating: Summary: Is this your family? Review: How many times have we been involved with the funeral of a loved one? It can be the hardest thing in the world to have to deal with. Especially when someone decides to act out. And that's BEFORE the actual funeral. And guaranteed, somebody ALWAYS acts out! Such is the case with the Naylor girls. Edward Naylor was the much beloved patriach of the Naylor family. Loved and respected by friends and coworkers alike. He was a pillar of the community. He was the type of father every female dreams of having, and some men feel they may never measure up to. Especially when they want to marry a daughter of such a man. However, what would happen to that image should a secret almost beyond compehension be revealed? Would the daughters still think their father a man of such sterling character? Edward Naylors four daughters are forced to deal with such a question when they must painfully deal with their father's unexpected death and plan his funeral. Along with much in-house fighting, an unthinkable mystery is revealed. How they each deal with it will surprise, anger and sadden you. This is my first read by this author. I loved this book. The hardest part was trying to read the ending and crying at the same time! Now for me, THAT'S a good read, when I am moved to tears, anger and empathy. I enjoyed this book very much and would highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: A Modern Soul Food Review: This book reminds the reader of how important family really is. The novel seems to be an even better of the popular 90's novel and movie "Soul Food." The plot takes a surprising twist that makes all of the sisters re-evaluate her life as well as the lives of her parents. I highly recommend this book. I read it in 5 hours.
